Chapter 2
After mom told me to not take too long, I went up the stairs. When I finally finished walking up the stairs and got to my room, I went looking for my medication. I really did have a headache since I didn't get enough sleep yesterday.
While I was looking for the bottle of pills, I accidentally bumped into my drawer and I heard something fall. When I looked back to see what fell, I saw that it was a little jar. I don't even remember that, probably from a few years back I thought.
I can't believe I forgot I had that, I mentally face palmed. I was wondering what was inside and curiosity got the best of me. They say curiosity killed the cat but eh.
I tried to open it to see what was inside but it was hard to take the lid off. Once I did get it off, I got the urge to cry. It brought back so many memories seeing the things inside.
I saw that it was a small collection of things that Isaiah and I collected when we were kids. There were a few sea shells from when we went to the beach together and rocks we had picked up at the park. There were also some keychains we had gotten each other at amusement parks, a matching bracelet we gave to one another and a photo?
I was surprised to see a photo inside since we have photo albums. It was folded when I picked it up, so I undid it. There we were smiling like we had just gotten our favorite toys in the whole world. The picture finally made me break and I started crying.
It was the day we had promised each other that we would be best friends forever until we were old. It sounds dumb right? Well it might sound stupid but it means so much to me. I can remember it like if it was just yesterday.
It was a few days after my 9th birthday and I decided that it'd be cool to celebrate it at the beach with Isaiah's family and mine. So I told my parents and they said they were fine with it but would have to ask Isaiah's parents. After we had finished talking, they called them and told them what was happening and agreed to it.
We all met up and finally went together to the beach. We laughed, messed around, got wet, ate and made memories. Right before we left, I told my parents if they could take a picture of us and they did.
It was a meaningful day that will forever stay in my heart. That promise is what helped me get through hard times whether it was personal or school related. It made me realize how much time we had spent together throughout our childhood and made memories until the accident.
After that day, everything changed and it brings a pang to my heart. It sucks to know that we aren't the same as before. I sometimes wish I knew what had happened or would it be different if I was there.
All I know is that I miss him a lot and how much fun we had together. I'll do anything I can to know what happened that day. Even if I have to keep secrets to myself and away from my parents, then I'll do it.
