"Don't look under your bed..."
JUNG HOSEOK
OCTOBER 25
12:25 MN
Although I was a huge fan of the song, I never really thought I might end up being afraid of it. Following the voice, we had entered another hallway, seemingly darker in the absence of any windows. In the dead-end of the corridor, I saw a figure, it was Jimin and he was the one humming the song.
Hyunjin was the first one to acknowledge and ran up to him as Minho and I paced behind. Staying a few feet away from Jimin, Hyunjin spoke in a lightened tone. "Jimin... stop humming" he worriedly says. But Jimin kept on humming that damned song.
"Why are you wearing a hospital gown?" Minho suddenly asks and steps forward. This relatively caught mine and Hyunjin's attention, Jimin was wearing a hospital gown that touched his knee and his back and legs were bare. He was no longer wearing his black jeans and blue shirt. Jimin continued to hum as his eyes looked into Hyunjin's, his eyes were dull and bloodshot. He looked frightened, dead even, his hands were shuddering and his lips were dry.
"Come here" Minho takes off his jacket and draped it over Jimin, Who only wore the thin hospital gown. He even had a name tag on it which correctly quoted 'park jimin'.
"Let's go back," Hyunjin announces as I and Minho nod to his statement. Minho kept a hand around Jimin as we walked. The butcher was no longer here and so was his bloody ax. Taking a glance at the room's door where Taehyung rested I tightened my grip on the dull flashlight.
The double door we used to enter this death field was again in sight. I wanted to cry so badly right now, But I couldn't, not when I saw that. The butcher suddenly came out of nowhere, I panicked and stood back. "Fucking run!" Hyunjin yells and pushes me to run. We were running all over from the start again, like some kind of Deja Vu. Reaching the four-way corridor, Hyunjin yells. "To the left!" Minho yanks Jimin with him as we both follow behind them both and Hyunjin ran behind me.
Hearing a thud, I whirled back in worry and paused my run. Hyunjin was laying on the ground and loudly groaned before looking up at me. My eyes caught what caused his fall; the butcher's ax was laying on the floor next to him, blood was pooling around the aged weapon. Hyunjin's left leg had a large gash and the blood spread on the floor like water. My immediate response was to run over to him.
"No! Stop! Run! he's coming. I'm ok... I promise"
"No hyunjin!" Minho barks and steps closer when the butcher re-appears. "I said go! Escape from here! GO!"
With teary eyes, Minho grabbed my hand. "Hyunjin... you have to be ok" And we ran off, leaving behind Hyunjin alongside carrying guilt on our shoulders. Turning to another new hallway, we locked ourselves inside a dark room. Minho sat Jimin down, near a pillar and solemnly stood next to me. Giving the dying flashlight a few whacks, I twirled it around the room.
I reckoned we were inside a bathroom, without question. The rows of dirty bathtubs and rusted taps alongside showers were enough for the recognition. The room was stinking like a sewer, as I involuntary thought about Pennywise. I hopped out of my trance when I felt Minho tug on my sleeve. "Something's coming this way" I looked at the closed door and pulled Minho behind me. Jimin resumed humming the song as he sat on the floor, I had forgotten he had stopped humming when we lost Hyunjin.
The door was thrown open and closed with the same speed.
"Hyunjin!" I hugged the younger tightly, fearing if I let go he'll disappear again. Minho stood next to us and smiled in relief, I guess he knew Hyunjin would come back. God his smile is pretty- "That butcher guy can't catch an athlete like me" Hyunjin smugly smirks as he draped his hands around Minho's neck, He couldn't stand well I assumed, well I know.
But I didn't fail to notice Minho's faded happiness. His eyes were shaking as he stared forward; inside the room. We both looked over and saw Jimin, who was no longer seated next to the pillar. His hospital gown was highlighted in the dark, he was now standing in front of a bathtub and staring inside it. "That tub... it's filled with ...blood" I gulp at Hyunjin's words and saw the crimson liquid filled up a bit lower than the tub's top. Jimin intensely stared at the blood as I had a sudden urge to vomit out today's lunch.
"Jimin, come here" Hyunjin slowly walks towards him, yet kept his tone stern. Jimin tilts his head at a slow pace and looks back at Hyunjin, then at us. He suddenly gave us a wide grin, which, unlike the other times, wasn't infectious. It crept me out instead. Hyunjin ignored the smile and yanked Jimin away.
Then it all happened in milliseconds. Two rotten and bloody hands shot up from the blood and pulled Hyunjin inside the tub, the large ceramic tub flipped upside down and the blood splashes down on the floor. "Hyunjin!" Minho pushed up the tub upside again while I was rooted in my place, unable to decipher what the just happened. The tub was empty and the only thing present was the bloodstains.
He backed away from the tub and gradually looked at me. His face pleaded to do something, he looked so helpless and scared. I couldn't do anything, Minho is the strongest in us and seeing him like this. I know one thing, we are in the endgame now. Our journeys of chasing the supernatural were coming to its closure, and I hated it.
I looked over at Minho as we walked towards the double doors. Jimin no longer hummed the damned song and kept walking beside me. We had abandoned the bathroom and were walking back. The butcher was gratefully gone away, all thanks to luck. Minho slid open the door as I pushed Jimin inside and walked behind him. He is behaving out of his mind, as much as I hate to say this, I don't think he'll be our flirty Park Jimin again.
Minho's jacket that was given to Jimin had Bloodstains on it from the tub and Jimin's smiling face didn't match it. He still kept on smiling, Hyunjin just disappeared and that fucker is smiling. But it's not him I know, Something's playing with him, I'm sure.
We were again met with that help desk where all hell loose broke. I started to glance around the hallway, which seemed a lot emptier than before. Half of us were here a moment ago now it's only us three. Minho suddenly stopped, making me bump into him. Even though Jimin kept walking, my attention was more on Minho, wondering why he stopped.
"My head-" That's the only thing he said before falling to the floor. I have low reflexes to catch him on time as his head hits the ground. "Lee Know!" I knelt beside him, pulling his head onto my lap. "Minho! Wake up!" I patted his face and shook his body but to my dismay, he kept still. His pulse was normal, so was breathing. I hope he only passed out of exhaustion.
I took off his backpack and laid him down, using it as a pillow. "Jimin" I called out, without peering my eyes off Minho. However, I didn't get an answer nor a bloody hum. Looking up I found Jimin staring down at the open door, down at the stairs. "Jimin!" He still kept his eyes locked downstairs as I wondered if there was someone? or something? I looked back at Minho and stood up. "Come back here right now!" He doesn't budge at my voice, I was practically risking yelling at this place. With a nervous gulp, I walked towards him and felt myself fearing his actions. But to my expectations, he jumped down. "JIMIN NO!" I ran down the stairs skipping some in the process to get down faster. Jimin's eyes were wide open, it felt like he was staring at me. His unmoving body was laying on the last few steps of the stairs, blood was splattered all over the place
I sucked in a breath and felt my vision blurred with tears. Jimin's lips were curled up into a smile, as if he was happy, dying. I forced myself downstairs as the blood coated my shoes and imprinted them on the dusty floor. Kneeling next to him and I reached over my hand to his face and gently pressed his eyes to close. Taking off my coat, I played it over his face. "Rest in peace Jiminie" My vision blurred further as tears rolled down to my lips. Wiping away the salty liquid, I stood up and climbed back upstairs. Minho was still unconscious on the floor, not moving a single muscle. Transferring his stuff to my bag for lighter luggage, I picked him up.
Trying my best to not look at Jimin, I crossed over his corpse and walked down the stairs. Now it's just me and Minho. And I promise to you Minho, I'll do whatever it takes to make you escape this place safely. Even if it takes my life to do so.
"...Because they are all up, beside you"
