Four people stand in a gated elevator, a doctor, a nurse, one guard, and a patient

Patient
*starts to shift in noticeable discomfort*

Fluorescent hum of the lights stop as a sudden jolt of the lift stopping causes passengers to stumble, lights lightly flicker on and off

Patient
*starts to anxiously shift more and whine*

The Doctor shifts nervously glancing at the guard

Nurse Upshur
*turning to guard*
Can you just get him to shut up?!

Doctor backs more in his corner, the lights continue to flicker
The guard turns to the patient and gives him a nudge

Guard
He-

A blood curdling scream fills the air as the lift’s lights go out

Patient
*whimpers louder and starts to press back into the metal wall*

Nurse Upshur
Sh-shut him up!

Guard leans towards the patient but is cut off by the doctor

Doctor Waylon
Stop.

Doctor steps towards patient and places hand on shoulder, slowly leading the patient down to the ground in a crouch, the two huddle together and the patient becomes quieter

Doctor Waylon
*looks at nurse*
Just stop.

Guard awkwardly backs away but keeps an eye on the pair, the nurse moves over to the lift floor buttons and rapidly mashes buttons

Nurse Upshur
What? Why isn’t this-?!

Doctor Waylon
There’s no reason to panic, it’s probably a blackout-

Guard
Blackout? In the middle of the mountains? Sir, we run on private generators.

Doctor Waylon
*calmly*
Then the main generator malfunctioned, we’ll just wait until the emergency power cuts in

Patient sniffles fill the silent air for a moment, doctor continues to comfort patient

Nurse Upshur
The hell was that?!

The guard and doctor look up from the patient to the nurse, silence follows as both stare

Doctor Waylon
It was probably no-

Muffled screams bounce around, sounding from both above and below, a scraping sound is heard from above
The three look at each other in a mixture of fear and confusion, the patient starts to moan in discomfort while leaning into the doctor

Doctor Waylon
The...the,
*licks bottom lips nervously*
some of the patients must of gotten scared, so nothing to fear

Nurse Upshur
*frowns*
Yeah sure. We’re just stuck in an elevator with limited oxygen and crazy over there

Doctor stands up from crouch, patient slumps down completely and grabs onto doctor’s pants leg

Doctor Waylon
Well for one thing there’s holes in the top so we have all the oxygen we need, and secondly, Eddie here is handcuffed, and one of my more calmer patients

Nurse looks down at patient and then doctor with an unimpressed look

Doctor sighs

Doctor Waylon
If that doesn’t help you, we also have Mr. Walker-
*jerks head at guard*
here to protect us

Nurse frowns again, shifting into a corner away from the other men in the room

Guard Walker
It is my job

Scraping starts up again from above, muffled screams turn crystal clear “oh god no! Please, please don’t do this-No!” A woman’s voice breaks into cries of fear, coming closer, and closer until an heart stopping thud is heard from the top of the elevator, the metal box rattles due to the sudden weight
The three stare at the roof in horror, patient starts crying loudly clawing at Doctor’s pants leg, dark liquid seeps through the holes in the roof, dripping, dripping down onto the floor
Screams no longer muffled fill the silence, along with patient’s cries into Doctor’s pant leg

Guard Walker
*in breathless horror*
They...they’ve gotten out

Nurse's head snaps from the roof to the guard

The patients...they’ve escaped
