Devil in the Details

First of all huge thanks to omgyouatetheprincess for the chapter title idea! So go read their book 'Book Title Ideas'! They're super helpful!
Second of all, GhostsAreWriters came up with an amazing theory for Logan's past (which I spent way to long fangirling over) so I'll be using some of their ideas for this as well!

Warning: Murder, cannibalism, blood, fire, knife, decapitation, experiments, ghost, swearing f*ck, f*ggot.

Thomas stared at the man in front of him, he was tall and pale, his hair a brown, bearing black and eyed brown.

"You have to stay away from him." The man said.

"But, he's my friend. He's always looked out for me." Thomas said, frowning at the man.

"Listen here Sanders, Logan is not to be trusted!" The man yelled, making Thomas frown.

Emile Picani would say he was imagining it, that he was finally seeing his friends in their true light, insane criminals. But, he couldn't be imagining the man in front of him, and Logan was his best friend.

"He will deny it, but I swear I'm not making it up kid!" The man growled.

Thomas glared, "I'll bring it up, fine. But, don't expect me to like him any less. Now leave me alone."

"No! I'm going to be there when you-"

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Thomas yelled, eyes closed, as his voice bounced off the walls.

"Hey! What's going on in there?!" The guard yelled, making Thomas open his eyed. The man was gone.

"Nothing!"

Thomas waited another hour in silence, until he was led out to the cafeteria.

Everyone was there.

Patton was glaring at everyone and anyone who walked past, Janus was stiff and tapping his fingers on the table, the two next to each other.

Roman and Virgil sat opposite each other. The two were unusually quiet, staring at their trays, possibly because they were afraid to hurt the other, though Thomas wasn't sure.

Remus was messing with the plastic utensils, curbing his moustache with his fork and Logan was watching him, a small unnoticeable smile on his face.

Thomas grabbed his tray of slop and went over, sitting down, across from Logan.

Patton grinned, though his eyes were still cold, "hey kiddo!"

Logan nodded, "Thomas."

"Sup' Timothy!" Remus smirked.

The others said nothing, Janus smiled at him but the other two didn't dare look up and Thomas didn't blame them.

Thomas looked to Logan, tense, "Logan, can I ask you something?" He asked, poking his goop with his fork, grimacing as it made a gross squelch.

Logan nodded, "you just did, but of course."

"Did you have a brother? Went by a Charles Crofters?" Thomas asked, making Logan freeze mid-chew.

"What?" He asked.

"Charles? You're older brother? The eldest out of you and your sister."

Logan stared and got up, "excuse me, I have to go." He rushed off to the nearest guard and asked to be taken to his cell.

Thomas watched with a frown, "was it something I said?"

The table stayed silent, as Virgil glanced at them all under his long eyelashes. They all looked tense and uncomfortable, he felt it as well. Logan was- is a messed up man.

"What do you think Logan's in for, kid?" Virgil asked, making Remus kick his ankle.

"Virgil, shut the fuck up, it's not your place to tell." Remus snarled.

"You're right, it's not. But, Logan's never gonna share, we only got it out of him because I threatened him. The kids a right to know." Virgil snarled back, making Roman grab his hand.

Thomas frowned, "experimenting on people?" He guessed, it seemed like a Logan thing.

Virgil nodded, "yeah he did that in later years but..." he sighed, "it all started ten years ago..."

Logan was sat at the dinner table, in a long sleeved black button up shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes and a dark black, stripped tie.

His mother and father sat at either end of the ridiculously long table, his father, Joshua, in a suit and his mother, Hedda, in a blue dress.

His sister Sasha was in a black dress and his brother Charles in a suit as well, sitting opposite to him.

His parents were so proud of his siblings.

Charles was the eldest and was moving out, planning to marry an Elizabeth Goldstein, that's not why they were dressed up, they just always dressed up. He was about to become CEO of Crofters Industries, a technological company his father owned.

Sasha was his sister, a couple years younger then Charles. She wasn't moving out and was staying over for Christmas. She went to university to become a lawyer and was doing well with all A's. She was dating a fancy, smart man by the name of Warner Huntington III.

Then there was Logan. In the midst of college, staying over for Christmas. He went into science, purely for fun and not for any real reason. He was single and was openly gay. Well of course, with his family being so prim and proper, they weren't exactly happy.

He was lucky he wasn't disowned and there was only one reason for that, he let them do whatever they wanted to him. He became their personal slave.

The meal was mostly silent, besides the questions from his parents to the elder two, and the praises and knives and forks scraping against the plates.

Joshua snapped his fingers, "hey, faggot, go get me some wine."

His siblings laughed, and his mother smirked behind her now empty wine glass. Logan tensed up and got up. His father was always cruel and yes, called him names. But, never a faggot.

He came back with red wine, listening silently as his father talked to the eldest, about some money he was going to give them, and said, he'd pay for their first houses.

Logan looked up to him, somewhat hopeful, but got no response, making it clear Logan was no longer a son to him and-

Well, Logan didn't really remember what happened the rest of the night or the next day. But, one thing was for sure... He had killed his family.

It was like he blacked out, all numb.

He knew he was alone with Sasha.

He knew he had got the fishing line his father own and tied the string to his sisters room, yelling about how he would destroy all her shoes. He knew she came running in and the next thing he knew her head came clean off, the wire now tinted red. He knew he stuffed her head and the body in the freezer too.

He also knew his brother Charles came home after a day out with friends asking about Sasha, to which Logan replied with a, "she's gone shoe shopping, apparently the others she had were destroyed."

He knew Charles took a nap in his room.

Logan knew he grabbed the butchers knife and brutally stabbed his brother in the chest and multiple of ten times, shoving him in the freezer also.

He couldn't remember what he did in between stashing his brothers body and his parents coming home. Maybe he cleaned up the mess? Hid the weapons? He really had no clue.

What he did know was his parents demanded he made food since the chef was sick. He knew he made the meal.

He cut slices for his parents of the first joint of meat and set it on the plates, his parents tasting it.

"How is? Not too gamy?" He asked, standing patiently.

Hedda sneered, mid-chew, "overcooked."

"Tough as well." Joshua commented, pushing the meat away.

Logan nodded, "how about the other joint?" He asked, cutting the other joint of meat, setting a slice in front of his father and mother.

They both tried it and the Hedda rolled her eyed, "it's the same."

"Where are the children?" Joshua asked, "call them again."

Logan frowned in fake thought, "I doubt they'll hear it."

"You seem different." Joshua said, staring his son up and down, eating his meal.

Hedda glared and took a more reluctant bite, "you seem happy." She'd have to change that.

"You've noticed. I have a new hobby." Logan said, hands clasped in front of him.

"Charles! Sasha!" Hedda yelled and it fell silent.

Joshua frowned, "where are they?"

Logan smiled, his eyes darkening, "I know you hate me and I hate you just as much. I was getting very-" he slammed his hand on the table, "annoyed with your attitude towards me."

Hedda got up, but was stopped with a knife to her neck, and Joshua glared, "Logan!"

"Not another step, father. Or I might slit her throat." Logan warned.

Hedda has tears in her eyes, "Sasha! Charles! Help!"

"They won't come." Logan smirked.

"Where are they?!" Hedda yelled.

Logan Laughed, "you two thought they tasted the same." He said, then pointed to the lump of meat, "but Sasha!" He stabbed them chunk and took a bite.

Hedda stared into shock as Joshua began gagging.

"Definitely more tender, in my opinion."

Logan came out of daze an hour later, his family dead and feeling full and no longer hungry. He stared at the plate of different colored meats and knew what he had done. But there was one main thought on his mind.

The evidence.

He only had one plan, burn it all and run. So he did. He burned his house down and fled.

It was only when he was far enough did he realise he great it felt, killing his family and how delicious they were. Maybe he could- no! It was wrong! Very wrong! But how he loved it.

Despite the fact he was in hiding, he tried to maintain a normal life, keeping up with his studies, now online and under a different name but soon came to the problem, he needed test subjects.

At first he used animals, but then the urge to kill game back, the urge to do wrong.

One night, he was at a club and helped a drunk women down the street. She was so weak and defenceless, that's when the idea came. To use her as a test subject and for some reason, he didn't fight the urge.

Thats when he began to use people as test subjects, drunken teens who were foolish enough to trust him.

If they were still alive after the experiments he'd kill them either way. And if they weren't too infected from the experiments, or they were in perfect condition still... Logan found them rather delicious.

"Holy fuck!" Thomas cried out.

Virgil glared, "you didn't hear it from me."

"But I did!" Thomas yelled, covering his face.

Remus frowned, "how'd you know about his brother? You would have said something on the first day if you read it online..."

Thomas bounced his leg, "his brother told me... Came to me an hour before I left my cell."

Janus frowned, "do you call on them? Or...?"

"I call on some like my grandma, or they come to me." Thomas said, shaking.

Patton frowned, "you've officially scared him, Virgil. Well done."

"It's not my backstory! It's Logan's! Not like I turned into a cannibal!" Virgil defended.

Roman looked up at Thomas, "does that change your view on Logan?"

Thomas was scared, he wouldn't lie. But a completely changed view? No.

"No... Do all of you have elaborate backstories?" Thomas asked.

Janus grinned, "you already know mine."

"No, I know a little bit." Thomas said, "Logan's was a story in itself."

Patton frowned, "mines simple. Anger issues. I got into a fight with my family and some friends, fists swinging and everything and they dragged me here once the cops where called. To be fair though, they wouldn't let me get a dog."

Thomas blinked, after Logan's story that was really underwhelming.

Virgil clicked his fingers, getting the kids attention, "seriously kid. We said nothing."

Thomas hesitated, but nodded, "you said nothing and I know nothing."

Logan would tell him whenever Logan was ready and even then he'd be normal. Because Charles was wrong.

He stilled liked Logan.
