Part 26

After talking with Lisa she felt much better that she had been able to share her feelings with someone she needed that. And she also didn't like keeping secrets from  her. Lanoir was slowly coming to the realization that she needed to be strong for herself. She loved Jaxs enough to know that she cared so much for him that she was willing to wait as long as it took.

Walking down stairs she opened the backyard and sat down on her porch enjoying the cool breeze. It was around nine and she wasn't tired. She had been working so hard to catch up on her work that she now had nothing to do. Looking up at the sky she admired that beauty of the stars and the moon.

"Ring, Ring."  the sound of her phone went off . Reaching into her pocket she pulled it out and clicked on the green circle to accept the call.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is this Lanoir Swells?"

"Yes, this is her how may i help you?" she questioned.

"Great this child services calling about a young girl wnamed Abby Whittle."

"Yes is Abby okay?" she asked while sitting straight in her chair.

"Abby is fine. But her grandmother has passed away last week. And she has no other relatives. We are trying to find her a safe home." the women stated.

Lanoir didn't even have to think to hard on what she would do. "Of course I would love to provide her with a home. I have a large enough income to provide her with everything she needs. I also own my own home and have more than enough space for her." she said.

"This is wonderful, can you make it in by tomorrow to sign the adoption papers and bring all important documentation?"

"Yes i'll be there tomorrow and will bring everything that's required. Thank you."

"Alright then, have a wonderful night."

Lanoir smiled she couldn't believe that she was going to adopt Abby. She was so excited that she was going to have a daughter. Lanoir would be the best mother she could possible be. She wouldn't be like her mother. Jumping up she rushed inside and grabbed her car keys she needed to get abby room ready before she came. She wanted her to actually like her home.

Opening the front door she quickly locked the door and pulled out her phone calling Tim. Tim had two daughters and she needed to find a good store for children.

"Hey Tim, sorry for the late call but can you tell me where I can purchase clothing and kid stuff from?"

Umm children items? Why are you pregnant?" Tim asked his voice laced with surprise.

"No I'm not pregnant, but I am adopting a five year old girl." She said while driving the car.

"Adopting ! Lanoir what's going on. Where are you I'm coming to meet you." Tim said. She was talking crazy, and he was worried.

"I'm driving over to Wal-Mart."

"Alright I'll be there in fifthteen minutes."

...

Once Lanoir had parked she waited in her car for Tim to show up. About five minutes later he parked next to her and stepped out. Grabbing her purse, keys and phone she exited out of her car.

"So you're adopting a little girl? When did this happen?" He asked as they made their way into the store.

"Yes I'm adopting a little girl named Abby. I know it's sudden and unexpected but while I was away during that month i saved her from drowning and became attached. At that time I couldn't adopted her but know I can and I plan to give her a loving home." She said while looking at purple curtains.

"Oh wow... I didn't know that you saved her. I didn't even know you were ready to have a kid of your own."

"Well there's a lot that has changed recently and it has been for the better I believe. These couple of months have shaped my future choices. And I like where it's taking me." she said while smiling.

Lanoir was genuinely happy that she was gaining a daughter. And it was all because of Jaxs, maybe not directly but he had jump started the process. She was starting to feel like life was starting to move along in a great direction.

After Tim helped her pick out all the necessary supplies she needed she headed back home. Once she was back inside she started to decorate Abby's new room. She dressed the large king sized bed in purple sheets and added a large cotton teal and purple blanket that had swirls and polka dots on it. Adding a dozen of different designed pillows she continued to decorated the room and make it feel homey for Abby.

Than after that she went down stairs and hung up a "Welcome Home" banister that was different colors each letter. After that she decided to get some sleep it was 12 o'clock at night and she needed to be up early so she could get up by 7 to head out on the road.

...

The next morning she woke up and got dressed, her hands were shaking from excitement. She was going to have a daughter! Smiling she finished getting dressed and took the stairs two at a time, getting down stairs she grabbed a granola bar and a bottle of water. Taking a sip of water she allowed the dogs time to do their business as she filled their bowls with food and water. After they ate she gave than all kisses and patted their hair.

Getting inside her car she started the long drive to the location of the orphanage. Lanoir was glad for the long drive because it gave her time think of her future. Lanoir would have to think of Abby and anything that would be in her best interest. Lanoir would make sure that Abby no longer felt neglected or alone. Lanoir would be the best mother she could be, she will give her all. After driving for two hours she finally reached her destination The building was old and badly damaged. The roof was pretty beat up and didn't look like it would survive the next winter. What a shame that children were supposed to live in such poor condition. Lanoir would have the company donate this orphanage this year and give them adequate funding and a place to live.

Walking inside she quickly made her way to the office. A elderly lady sat at a desk looking through papers. Her grey hair was placed in a tight bun with wisp of hair escaping. She wore a blue dress.

"Good Morning, My name is Lanoir Swells and i'm here to sign adoption papers for Abby."

"Ah, yes Ms. Swell I'm so glad that you could make it. Abby is so excited that you've come for her. Please have a seat and we can start filling out the required paperwork." she said while placing out a stack of papers.

Not wasting anytime she started to fill out the papers and answered any of her questions.

"Do you have space for her to have her own room?" she asked

"Yes i have a four room house that has two bathroom and also a large backyard. I have four dogs so they need a large space to run around in." Lanoir answered

"Okay that's wonderful.I have all of Abby's important papers and documents." she said handing over the information.

Lanoir scanned the information and made sure she had all the proper documents that she needed. Standing up she reached over and shaked her hand. The smile never leaving her face. They made their way down the hall way and into a room that had four bunk beds.

"Abby dear she here to pick you up."

Abby's head pop from behind the bed as she carried a small suitcase with her. Once her eyes locked with hers she dropped her bag and ran over to her. Her small arms wrapping around her neck as she held onto her. Her head buried in her neck. She would never let her go, she missed the kind lady so much.

Lanoir wrapped her arms around her and held her with all might.

"I've missed you Abby." She said

"Me to can I stay with you now?" She asked

"Yes you can stay with forever. Your coming to live with me."

"I would like that. Can.. I call you mommy?"

Lanoir swore that her heart was about to burst with joy. Her eyes were tearing up as she nodded her head.

"Yes you can" she said while picking her up, carrying her she picked up her bag and walked them to the car. Saying her goodbyes she drove them to their house.
