Graduation Day
"Honey, are you about ready? The car is waiting on you" his voice rings through the suite.
"Yeah, just about. Just finishing my makeup real quick," answering him quickly.
"You got five minutes, or you will be late," he calls out.
Ugh, he can be so frustrating sometimes. "Yeah, I know!"
I finish my makeup finally then walk out of my room. As I walk down the stairs, my father and brother are smiling at me widely. I have a beautiful red spaghetti strap dress while holding my cap and gown in its garment bag.
"You look beautiful, honey" dad hugs me tightly. "I'm glad you dressed up to go out afterward. Your gown will cover this anyway."
"Go on," Ray shoos me out the door. "You have to be there earlier than we do. The limo is taking you first then coming back to get us."
"I have to be on our plane by eight-thirty tonight. You two have this Presidential Suite until the morning. The plane will be back by eleven in the morning to take you home," dad says as he opens the door, basically shoving me out into the hall.
"Thank you so much, dad. I love you" I wrap my arms around his neck, kissing his cheek.
"Hey," he pushes a strand of hair behind my ear, "You did this all by yourself. You studied hard, got the scholarship here, then continued to stay on top also. Got your speech ready for the Valedictorian?"
"Yes, I got it here" I pat the clutch that I have in my hand. "Love you, see you soon."
"See ya soon, sis," he calls out the door.
I walk out to the limo getting in. It whisks me away to the auditorium.
Back in the Room (Ray's POV)
"You didn't tell her, did you, dad?" I ask.
"No," shaking his head, "He wanted it to be a surprise anyway. They're here in the same hotel as us, just been laying low in the other suites."
"You trust him that much with her?" asking in a low tone.
"He knows his boundaries, and so does she. Just relax, she'll be fine. He has been warned several times by me anyway," he chuckles.
"Come on then; we need to get ready. We can't be late; she will murder us both," saying as my body pushes up off the couch.
We both get dressed before the limo comes back to get us. My dad calls Dominic when we are alerted that the limo has returned.
"Hello?" his voice comes through the other side of the phone.
"Limousine's here. Are you guys ready?" in his chipper, excited voice.
"Yeah, walking out the door now. We've been waiting on your call to let us know when you were ready for us," he answers.
"Meet you downstairs then," he says as he slides his tie-up, his neck flopping the collar of his shirt over it.
He hangs up so we can shortly head to the door to meet them downstairs. We hear a door click down the hall to look at the three brothers as they glide with long strides towards us. Each of them is over six feet tall with very muscular frames. They look like they could snap a human in half if they wanted to. We get into the elevator to head down to the lobby then into the waiting limo.
"I promise I didn't let anything slip," as he slides his coat on, "she has no clue about you being here with us."
"Good, I got the VIP room at the restaurant, so we are set there," Dom says as he adjusts in his seat.
I look at him. "So you're really trying to impress her, huh?"
He nods his head. "Yes, I want to see if she would be willing to date me after all of this is over."
Of course, dad smiles. "I don't see a problem with that. She talked about you a lot last night while we flew out here."
"Oh," raising an eyebrow, "Like what?"
"Your gun collection really piqued her interest; she said she likes the way you conducted yourself around your brothers," I add. "You were calm but had a steadfast voice when you demanded it."
Brian looks at me. "Sometimes, he can't be that calm. We all lose our temper from time to time. Most of the time, he is calm like that, but if something goes wrong, he blows up bad."
Pointing at Dominic, then Brian, dad says, "She also thought the two of you were cute but that you Dominic was cock blocking your brother from her."
"Good choice of words," he scowls. "Trust me; I wasn't happy when he snatched her out from under me like that."
"If she doesn't want to date me, then I will not stand in your way to make your move on her" Dominic's smooth voice comes over the car.
"I didn't finish," Dad interrupts. "She said it impressed her. She was looking at you most of the afternoon where she was glad when you challenged her. She is very competitive then loves a good challenge. She said you let her win, though."
He rares back, "I didn't. Her marksmanship is amazing. I did a heart; she did the Eiffel Tower with fifteen bullets. Still don't see how she pulled that off."
"She can visualize what she wants," dad's hand waves. "Then she sizes it up in her head to produce it. She's done that for years. It still amazes the shit out of me. That's why she asked about the clips. She knew what she wanted to do, so she made sure you had the same chance too."
"Yeah, I see that" he sits back in his seat again. "She is very talented also."
"You guys have to come to see her on our course we have. She is amazing on it also," I add.
Dominic's brows furrow "What kind of course?"
"One that I designed for training purposes. Everything moves to where you have to get through it in a certain amount of time. Everything from spiked walls, heat-seeking guns or crossbows, to a collapsing ground. It's everything an assassin would need to know before going out into the field," dad adds.
"Nice," Brian says as he sits up. "We will definitely have to come to try that. Sounds like fun."
"It is until the heat-seeking machine gun locks onto you. I've gotten pummeled by that thing one too many times," as I rub my legs.
Dominic laughs. "So that's what you wanted that for."
"Yeah," dad laughs. "It has rubber bullets in it, but that sucker works well."
"I should have guessed it comes from you guys," as I sink into the seat.
We pull up to the auditorium to get out. We make our way in to get our front row seats that he reserved for us.
"How did you get these?" Brian asks.
"Made a nice donation to the college, then told them that I wanted these seats. I called to change them yesterday. Added you three to the list," he says.
"Nice," Dominic adds, "So we will be able to see everything from right here. The stage is close, so you'll be able to see your daughter walk across it."
"Oh yeah, along with more" as he sinks into the cushioned seat.
"More?" the brothers ask.
Just then, the music starts where everyone stands. We watch all the graduates walk in. Then I see her go up onto the stage to take her seat behind the podium. I smile because I am so happy for my sister. She is an amazing person. I see the questionable looks on the brother's faces.
Abigail's POV
I look out seeing my dad, along with my brother, in their seats. I look beside them, thinking, 'what the hell! What are they doing here?' All three brothers are sitting there beside my dad. I take a few deep breaths waiting for my turn to speak. When it's time, I stand up walking to the podium. I'm greeted by five smiling at me, so my body takes a deep breath to start.
"Good afternoon, parents, friends, and family of the graduating class of Harvard University. People have always stood beside each and everyone that is in this crown today. Supporting them, loving them while pushing them to achieve their goals in some way. This year is one of the highest numbers of students graduating with degrees or honors. We all have strived to push ourselves to make this one of the best for every one of us. Whether it was a friend helping you study in the library or in your dorm, a teacher pulling you into a class to give you their time to help you pass. Everyone here had deserved what they are getting today. Their final decision before you go out into the world is to start with your own loves. Some of us already have; others are just starting on that path. Never forget what you did to get yourself here today, always pushing yourself in the future. Those of you who have made lifelong friends here, don't drift away from them as time goes on. Take the time to call, e-mail, or stay in contact in some way or another. It's not what we do while we are here anymore; it's what we do while we start new lives that are now ahead of us. I give you the graduating class of Harvard University for this year. Thank you so much."
The crowd erupts into huge applause as I sit down. The rest of the speeches fly by then we are announced to walk across the stage.
The lady announcing the names says, "Graduating at the highest academic grade in the history of our school, Abigail Williams. She is graduating with a 4.5 GPA."
I see my family stand up as I walk across the stage to receive my diploma along with some extra awards that I received with them. I shake the Dean's hand before walking back to my seat. Before I know it, they're announcing us as the graduating class. I stand with everyone else as hats go flying while cheers are hollered. We then walk back out, going to the front of the auditorium. Soon everyone starts filing out of place looking for their graduates.
I feel a pair of arms wrap around me. "I'm so proud of you. Now it's time to relax while enjoying yourself," my dad says.
"Yeah," Ray picks me up, spinning me around, "Very proud of you. Finally, you're out of my hair here."
"I'll be back when you graduate in a few years. I may not be on campus, but I can come to see you." I say with a huge smile.
"Nope," he snorts, "You have your thing to do now. Working in the real world with dad."
Dominic steps forward, extending his hand to me. "Congratulations, Abigail. I was very impressed with your speech, along with the honors that you have. You have done very well for yourself."
Brian steps forward also "Yeah, congratulations. Very well done, I must say."
"Same here," Anthony finally speaks. "Huge congratulations for you."
"Thank you," I say with a questionable tone. "How did you guys get here?"
"I invited them," dad smiles. "Dominic wanted to do something nice for your graduation, so I asked him to come along with us."
"Uh-huh," crossing my arms, "You failed to mention that."
Dad smirks. "Must have slipped my mind?"
"Yeah, right," letting my arms fall to my side.
"Anyway," dad says, "Come on, he's got a nice surprise for you."
"Thank you so much for coming," as I look at him through my eyelashes. "It surprised me when I saw you were sitting with my dad."
"Well, your dad also didn't tell us that you were valedictorian either. I know you all are very proud," with that megawatt smile again.
Our limo pulls up, where we all climb inside. I sit in the back with my dad.
"Did you guys just fly out here for the day, or what are you doing after this surprise?" I ask.
"No, we are staying at the same hotel as you are" he turns to my dad. "Jason, they can fly home with us tomorrow on our jet. No need to send yours back for them. I know you were leaving from here tonight so don't worry, well get them home."
"Well, thank you," as a smile comes across his face, "That way, my pilots won't be so rushed to get back here by eleven to take them home."
"OK," I interrupt, "This is way too convenient here. What is going on?"
"Nothing, just being polite to your family along with your father," he calmly says as he looks at me, smiling.
"Cool man," Ray chirps. "I saw yours come in not long after ours. Your jet is very nice."
"Yeah, we have to travel sometimes, so it's nice to have it when we need it. We have beds along with everything in it. I also have my office in there," with his eyes dancing as he talks.
"Very nice," I add. "I guess that would come in handy when you have to travel far for long periods of time."
He smiles at me as I see his eyes sparkle. We pull up to a very nice restaurant; looking out the window, it towers over the street but looks to have multiple levels. The beige paint on the building looks very fresh as the windows sparkle as they've just been cleaned. We start up the brick steps to go inside for this surprise that he has.
