Bus Invaders

^This is why I love this band 😂😂😂

I'm so sorry that I haven't updated in like a month. My schedule has been crazy

        Jenna

My alarm apparently doesn’t go off the day we’re supposed to pack up and leave because I wake up to a loud honking outside of my house. And not just any ordinary car horn kind of honking. It’s deeper, like a big rig.

I pull my bathrobe around me and walk downstairs. The clock in the living room reads 7:30. This early? Seriously? Pulling back the front window’s curtains, I look outside to see a bus parked at the curb. A bus.

There’s a knock on the door. I open it to see Tyler.

“You have a bus!??” I exclaim.

“Sure do!” Josh yells from the driver’s seat, leaning halfway out the window.

Tyler chuckles. “Yep. It’s our tour bus. We got it earlier this year.”

“Sweet,” I reply. “It beats a van.”

    “Yeah,” he agrees.

I look down at my fluffy pink robe. “I’m not that dressed for the occasion. My alarm didn’t go off this morning.”

“That’s okay. We’re not in a huge rush to leave. We just wanted to get your bags and whatnot so we can leave tomorrow morning.”

“What happened to today?” I ask.

“Panic! isn’t even halfway across the country yet, so Fall Out Boy said that there’s not rush since their first show is still five days away. We think we’ll be more prepared if we leave tomorrow morning, and besides, if we left today we’d have to leave now.”

“Oh,” I say, realizing that we’re both still standing in the doorway. “I should probably let you in.” He chuckles as I close the door. “So where’s the first show at?”

“Mohegan Sun Arena in Conneticut,” he replies, following me up the stairs. “It’s probably not even a two day drive.”

    “Ah.”

“So...how much do you have to pack?”

“Not much,” I respond. “I’ll just have to repack a few things.” I push the door of the guest bedroom open.

“Where’s your parents at?” Tyler asks as he looks around. “The house seems pretty quiet.”

“Work,” I say simply, grabbing some clothes from the floor and folding them up.

“I thought so.” Tyler stuffs his hands in his pockets, his shoulders tense. “So...do you need any help?”

“I think I’m pretty much good. It’s just mainly the hygiene stuff I need to get now.”

“Cool. So um...I was wondering if you wanted to stay at my house tonight since that’s where Josh and Mark are meeting me.”

“Will your parents have any room for me?” I ask in confusion as he follows me to the bathroom.

“No, not at their  house, at my house,” he replies pointing to his chest.

I pause for a moment, mentally scolding myself for the blonde moment. “Right. I forgot that you own a house.” I crouch down and rummage through the vanity cabinets, hoping to hide my blush. “I mean, you act like such a little kid sometimes that I forget you’re 24,” I add jokingly.

He chuckles. “It’s okay. Anyways, do you want to get a tour of the tour bus when we’re done?”

I smirk. “A tour bus tour, huh?”

He nods in confirmation. “A tour bus tour. It’s a tour of the touring tour bus.”

I grin. “A tour bus tour it will be. Just let me finish packing, and then I’ll change.”

We go downstairs a few minutes later and walk out the door toward the silver-colored bus. Josh is still sitting in the drivers seat although the engine is off, his feet propped up on the dash and his phone turned sideways in his hand. Tyler smacks the window as we walk around to the right side, making Josh jump. He disappears from the front as we near the door on the side. There’s a click as it opens, Josh standing behind it.

“Welcome to our bus,” Tyler says, putting his hand on the small of my back and guiding me forward gently. “We just got it this year, so we’re fairly new to it as well.”

“Neat,” I reply, walking up the fold-out steps to the inside. My eyes gradually adjust to the dimly-lit interior. I look around. A restaurant style booth is directly on my left and a couch is on my right. Another couch takes up a small length of wall in front of us. Everything seems to have a forest-green coloring to it.

“To our right here is the kitchen area,” Tyler says, gesturing to some cedar cabinets lining a little bit of both walls on the far end. There’s also a counter with a small sink. He steps past me. “This is the fridge and freezer. We already have it stocked up.” He opens a black fridge to reveal it filled with various road snacks.

“Our entertainment center is right here.” Josh guestures to the back wall between the cabinets and the fridge. A flat screen TV and DVD set sit on a ledge.

Tyler walks past me and over toward the left half of the bus. “The beds are down here.” He opens a door to reveal a hallway with bunks on both sides, four on the right and two on the left. Each bunk has a green privacy curtain. That’s nice.

“This is the bathroom and shower.” Tyler opens a door on the left and on the very end. “I assume it will become you and Debby’s best friend since you guys wear makeup,” he teases. I roll my eyes.

“Anyways, that’s basically the whole bus,” Josh says.

“So...are we going to sleep in here every night on the road?” I ask, glancing at the cramped hallway and small bunks.

“Most nights, yeah,” Tyler says. “But if we’re going to be in the same city a few days, we may get a hotel from time to time.”

I nod, then look at the door serparating the bunks from the rest of the bus. “Does the door lock?”

He shakes his head. “Since it’s just been us boys going on tour, we just change in front of each other. You and Debby can use the bathroom if you want to.”

“Oh...um, I meant when you sleep.”

He cocks his head. “You sleep with your door locked?”

I hang my head and nod, looking at my shoes. “I also usually like to have a small light.”

“Oh,” he replies quietly. “Well, I’ll see if we can do something about that.” He looks around and beckons for me to follow him out of the bunk area. “Anyways, we should get your bags that can go ahead and be packed.

I nod as we walk out the bus door and into the house. I grab my main suitcase, which Josh takes downstairs and stores somewhere in the bus.

Tyler turns to me. “Well, I guess I’ll see you tonight?”

I nod. “Are you picking me up and taking me to your house?”

“Yep. I hope your folks won’t mind.”

I wave my hand. “They shouldn’t.” We walk downstairs and stand together awkwardly for a brief moment. I turn to him. “Well, see you tonight.”

He smiles. “See you tonight.” He walks out the door, closing it carefully behind him before he jogs out to the bus parked at the curb. I smile as I watch him leave through the window, wondering what this pending tour might bring.
