The artist unfinished work
It was a warm day in Tennessee. I was getting ready to go to this art thing my parents wanted me to go to. Because I was their only child they wanted me to be like them. 'The perfect child'. I would have to learn to be the perfect girl so I could satisfy my parents.
I stood in front of the mirror and pulled back my blood red hair into a small pony tail. I had green eyes and stood only about 5 feet. I grabbed my shiny red key. My key was somthing I would hang around my neck in a gold chain. It showed me that I was still me. I just have to lock up the real me. I tucked my key under my red dress.
"Leah sweetie, we are going to be late." I looked over and quickly tighteedn the black bow on the side of my dress.
"Oh, be sure to bring you're handkerchief, you know the one you got for your birthday!" yelled my Mother.
"Ok." I picked up a pale blue well folded handkerchief with a small panda on the bottom right corner, and put it in my purse and ran out. Mother took one look at me and sighed.
"Sweetie, you put it on wrong." sighed Mother. She walked over to me and fixed my dress collar. She noticed my key and sighed. " Leah you know we don't like you wearing stuff like this! It's improper."
" Yes... Mother." I took off my key a slipped it in my purse. My whole life I've always felt like a slave to my parents. I wished I could be myself, but I also wanted my parents to be happy.
Mother left to go to the car and Father came downstairs. He took one look at me and smiled. He placed his hand on my shoulder. He knelt down and and gave me a hard look.
"Just give us your great smile". He said with a smirk. He took his fingers and forced me to smile. I nodded, then he let me go. My father never thought I was the child he wanted, so when ever he'd say 'just give us your great smile' he really meant "don't embarrass me or I'll disown you." I picked up my purse then father and I both left to go to the car.
When we got in the car it was like always. My parents telling me what a wonderful time I'm going to have. I just sat there with my headphones on, watching the world zoom past me.
We stopped in front of a huge white building with no windows. It had a old dusty banner on the top that said "Welcome to the 1964 Annual Art Summer Steam," in bubble letters painted a dull yellow. As we got closer, I could see the "1964" was crossed out and turned into "2014". I looked at the building and said to myself, "This looks like a place to kidnap someone," I guess I wasn't that quiet, Mother and Father heard me and quickly glared at me and said, " Leah!! This is a famouse place! The greatest artists in the world have painted in this... this," she paused for a moment, then looked at the building again "this.."
"This wonderful place." Father cut in. Mother smiled and nodded at his comment.
We walked in to the front desk. I looked around and saw it was neater inside than it was out side. The walls were painted a snow white and you could see your reflection on the polished stone floors.
" Sweetie," Mother began. " Why don't you take a look around? We may be here awhile," she pointed to the long line of people. I nodded and left.
I looked around at the art and saw strange statues. They were black figures with arms coming out of their stomach, and their mouth wide open showing sharp teeth. I flinched at the site of such horrible monsters and started to walk quickly away.
I saw another strange sculpture, a giant scary fish with sharp teeth in a big hole filled with what looked like water. I tried to stick my hand in to see what it was, I couldn't reach so I leaned into the sculpture. Suddenly I felt like I was being pulled in, and I started to fall in. Then suddenl, I was grabbed by four hands and that pulled me out of the mysterious hole. We fell back and I landed on two people. I got up and looked at the people I landed on.
They were two boys, one had glasses and the other had a bandaid on his nose. The one with glasses was just a little taller then the other; he had on a white dress shirt with a black tie and black dress pants and had neatly brushed hair. The other, on the other hand, was wearing a black sleeveless t-shirt and jeans and appeared to have just woken up; he looked like a porcupin. They both had blue eyes and brown hair, but, what struck me the most, was that they had the same face.
They both stood up and stared at me. I stared back. They looked at each other, nodded then said at the same time, "Be more carful next time." Then, they left. I just glared at them. They weren't going to ask if I was okay. How R.U.D.E.!
I sighed and walked away. As I started to walk deeper into the art museum I saw fewer and fewer people, until I was alone. I turned around to walk back. The light went off, then on again. I flinched and ran back to the front desk. As I ran I didn't see any one. When I finally got their no one was there. I panicked and started to scream.
"Mother, Father!" I began to run, " Mother where are you?!!" my voice started to turn into a whine. "Father please. Were are you!?" I tripped and fell and hit my face on the floor. I started to cry, my tears were quickly streaming down. I looked up at the wall and saw a message written in blue paint.
"Don't cry. Come now and play with me." I stared at the message and traced the blue paint with my finger. I looked at my finger it was wet, and red... blood red. I screamed and quickly wiped it off on the floor and it came out blue. I got up and ran more and more. Scared and tired, I slowed down and tucked into the wall under a window.
" This is just a bad dream. This is just a bad dream." I tried to convince myself. I rocked back and forth then stood up I looked through a window to see if there was anyone outside. The glass was fogged so I looked closer. BAM!! a hand crashed against the glass then another hand followed. CRASH!! The hands started to bang against the window. The glass started to crack. I took two steps back then started to run. As I passed the paintings they started to chant.
" Run to blue. Run right through the world of my master." I continued to run. I covered my ears and ran to the museum bathroom. I locked myself in to a stall I sat down on a toilet and tucked in my feet. I reached into my purse pocket to try to find my cell phone, but my red key fell out and landed on the floor. I quickly reached down for it and put it around my neck. I clasp the key in my hand and calmed down. I reached into my purse and looked for my cell phone. When I found it I quickly flipped it open and dialed 911. It rang twice then an operator picked up.
"It's not nice to use your'e cell phone in an art museum, little lady." I dropped my cell phone and it fell through the flooring. I reached to grab it it but my hand only hit the hard floor. I heard a door open then slam shut. I looked through the crack of the stall and saw the creepy black statue. I tucked my feet in more and held my breath. The creepy... thing started to walk about, looking for anyone that might still be here. My heart started to race at 10,000 miles per hour. The creepy....thing turned and looked directly at the stall I was in. It grabbed the top of the door and began to shake it. I covered my mouth to keep from screaming and crying and held my breath. Hopefully this thing just guessed that I was in here and would soon leave. It continued to rattle at the door and soon it started to scream bloody murder then started to rattle the door harder. I closed my eyes and covered my ears, I tucked my feet in more. The tears I was trying to hold back started to spill out, but I didn't dare make a sound. The thing stoped rattling then said, " In here we bleed for now our father is dead."
I looked up and peeked through the crack in the stall and it was gone. I slowly lowered my feet, then stood up even slower. I reached for the lock and unlocked it, but fear was still controling my body. I turned the handle of the door slowly, then peeked outside.
It was definitely gone but I still was shaking. Every step I took was followed by my quickly turning around to look over my shoulder. I hugged myself to calm myself down I looked over at the wall. There was another message " Run through the blue, run right through to the world of my master." splashed on the bathroom walls. I suddenly felt drawn to it. I looked at the floor and saw a blue paint drop trail. I soon found myself following the blue paint.
"Why am I doing this?" I thought to myself. I tried to stop, but found that my body wasn't responding. "I can't stop! Someone help me!" I found myself being dragged toward the big hole with the fish in it. I looked down and tried to fight it, but found that one of those things was behind me, forcing me forward.
"RUN TO THE BLUE, RUN RIGHT THROUGH TO THE WORLD OF MY MASTER!" it pushed me in. I began to fall, reaching my arms out, hoping someone would save me. SPLASH! I opened my eyes to find that I was in water. But, no it was not water. It was thicker than water, and I could breath. I was slowly sinking. It felt like there were chains on my arms and legs, and someone was pulling me down. I looked at the light on the surface and watched it slowly dim into nothing but bitter darkness. At that moment I really thought that was going to be the last time I would ever see light.
