The Art of Letting Go
I yearn to touch the sky
I'm perhaps a tad too shy
Yeah, I may be a pushover and real nice
As sweet as sugar and everything nice
But I've been trying to
Get what I want, too
I've been looking for a long time
For inspiration worth at least a dime
Then I came across a contest
In it seemed fun to contest
So I took it on as a good challenge
Even though it was outside my range
But stepping out of our comfort zone
Is something we've got to get done
There I found this girl
Who looked like a pearl
She wasn't just pretty
Nor did she seem petty
Her I had to describe
In my mind she did inscribe
The feeling of letting go
How good it felt to do so
She reached up to touch the sky
Though she couldn't, she didn't cry
She just stood straight and outstretched
As all around in her mind she registered
Looking at what she had right here
She gave up trying to get there
She looked around her head
To the things there she said
'I'll love you for a long time
For you, I'd give my last dime'
For she was at peace with all
She had and saw, enthralled
This girl whom I know nothing of
At whom many would perhaps scoff
Quite simply, taught me the art of letting go
Of things that tie you down and a bruised ego
And truly living life to its fullest
By appreciating my harvest
Fully and truthfully, no matter how bad it seems
And not go hunting to where something else teems
All she did was to be seen by me
Now she is a queen to me
I finally found the inspiration
I looked for with desperation
To that girl, all I say is
Thank you so much!!
