ALEX'S POV.
Son?" I heard a familiar voice.

"Young man, are they your parents?" A man wearing a police uniform said.

"No, they're not my parents, but they said they are" I made eye contact with my mum, my dad couldn't say a word.

"This girl and your son told us they found this in your house, sir? What do you have to say about this?". The policeman said He threw the envelope at them.

" By the way, my name is detective Paul. It is nice to meet you two." He added.
Oh, he's a detective; I guess that's why he wasn't on a uniform.

"Is this why you had my wife and I arrested? Because of pictures that I don't even know whose it is?  And who is Tayo Williams? I demand an apology!"  My dad yelled while Rose and I watched him.

"Your son explained a lot to us." Mr. Paul smiled.
Yeah, actually I told him all I heard, how they discussed the Elliots, and the mentioning of her sister in their discussion.

Putting all this together proves they have a hand in the murder case. I explained to Mr. Paul how they intend to waste me as used in their words and how they abducted me for years because they are not my real parents.

"I now know everything Mum! For the past seventeen years of my life, I was fooled. It shows clearly why you two were never there for me." I stared at him with so much disbelief.

"I don't know who is feeding you with all these rumors because I'm yet to understand what you're saying, have you started drinking? Or do you have brain damage? Need I remind you that I am your father and I'll always be." My father yelled at him.

"Lower your voices." Mr. Paul said.

"Mr. and Mrs. Alabi, I'd like you two to meet someone. Tell us if you have or had any connections with her" Mr. Paul ordered that Rose's aunt should be brought to his office.

"Here she is" A policeman brought her, holding her elbow violently. Rose looked away, she must be disgusted by her sight.

"Mrs. Tayo, I'd like you to take a closer look at these people, have you met before?" Mr. Paul looked at her.

"No, I don't know her," She said. Her face was swollen, she looked like she cried all day. Rose choked up and she was misty-eyed I knew she was on the verge of crying.

"And him?" Mr. Paul asked further.

"I-I-I I think I know him" She stammered.

"You think you know him or you know him?" Mr. Paul said.

"I know him!" She yelled.

"She doesn't know what she's talking about! I do not know this lady." My Dad said to Mr. Paul.

"Mrs. Alabi, what do you have to say to this?" Mr. Paul asked her.

"Sir, I've been behind bars for years, I just got released a few days ago and this murder case happened just a year ago. How do you expect me to have any connections with this" My mum told him?
Immediately, I had eye contact with Rose and Mr. Paul. I guess we shared the same thoughts at that moment.

"But, I heard you speak about the Elliots. I heard that from you." I faced her.

"Son, what has gotten over you? How dare you say this to me? I suffered for years because of a crime I didn't commit and now you want to be the one to implicate me?" She yelled at me.

"I am not your son!" I shouted.

"You are," They both said at the same time.

"I'm sorry, but we'll have to detain you two," Mr. Paul said facing my parents.
are they my parents? But I heard them loud and clear, they are not my parents. I was confused.

It was getting really late, Mr. Paul walked us to get a cab.
"Did you tell your parents the exact time Rose's parents got murdered?" He asked.

"No, we haven't talked about anything this serious since they got back. I was confused too when my mum said the incident happened a year ago." I said to him. Rose was listening.

"So you were pondering what I was pondering?" Mr. Paul smiled.

"Yes". We both smiled and Rose grinned.

" They're trying to play smart with us. Before tomorrow, I'll definitely get the truth from them. But it'll include torture if you don't mind." He laughed.

"Actually, I don't". We both laughed.

" Alex?" Rose smiled.

"What? If that's the only way to get the truth from them, then it should be done." I added.

"So where do you guys intend to stay? Do you have relatives around to stay with?" Mr. Paul asked.

"I don't, my Uncles don't stay in this state," Rose said to him.

"I don't too, I never knew any relative of my parents," I told him.

"Oh, so where do you two intend to stay?" He asked.

"That may be a problem for me but not for Alex, he stays alone most times." Rose smiled.

"And you? Well I was at home last night and I was fine" Rose told him.

"If anything happens or you suspect any strange things in your houses, please do not hesitate to call me." He said looking so concerned.

"OK, Sir." Rose and I chorused.

We boarded a cab back home.

ROSE'S POV.

"So are you going back home?" He asked.

"Yeah, where else?" I smiled at his annoying question.

"Oh." He added.

"Yeah."

"You can come to spend the night at my place, it's fine by me. If you're comfortable with it though." He offered.

"I have something to do at home, like really important. But you can come along, it's fine by me" I said.

"Oh OK," He said.

We got home, I switched on the lights, I sat on the chair and switched on the TV.
"Make yourself comfortable," I told him.

"Thanks." He smiled.

I quickly rushed into Sister Tayo's room, I was so curious and anxious to read what she wrote. Actually, I didn't think reading it would make any difference though but I hope I get answers like she said I would.
I searched for the book in her wardrobe then I found a book, a notebook which on the first page THE FLASHBACK was boldly written on it.

"What's that?" Alex asked as I walked into the living room.

"She told me to read this book"  I walked into the living room and sat beside him.

"A book? For what? Are you preparing for an exam or what? These people won't cease to surprise me." He scoffed.

"She said this notebook and it's content will explain why she had them murdered." I feigned a smile.

So she took her time to write this? Letter or story." He chuckled.

"Let's see" I opened the first page and we read together.

AN HOUR LATER.

"Did they really do this to her?" I looked pitiful.

"Wow, that's bad. So they worked for a drug baron?" He said.

"I guess that was why my mum was a full housewife, but my Dad worked in a firm because I could remember one of his colleagues; Mr. Shola."

"They stole from their boss and persuaded her to date him just for him to let go of the money? Wow, they had it all planned." Alex said.

"What plan?" I asked.

"They stole from their boss on purpose, they knew he'll want to have an affair with her." He added.

"She had several abortions, Alex if this is true; it shows my parents are so cruel but during their lifetime, they were the best parents and my mum was the best sister," I said almost crying.

"So she was stuck with the drug Lord for years and aborted series of pregnancies for him? Her fiancée got murdered by assassins? Wow." He raised his hands up in surprise.

"She wasn't even paid a dime for helping them pay for their crimes?" I looked pitiful.

"But are you sure this is true?" He looked at me.

" I don't know, but if it is. This is really bad." I said.

"How did she end up killing them? How did she end up with Mr. Kola?" I was curious.

"Well, we'll have to keep reading." Alex smiled.

"Is that your stomach grumbling?" I laughed.

"Yeah, I guess I'm hungry." He said.

"You guess you're hungry or you are hungry? Wait! Are you shy?" I smiled.

"No, I'm not shy." He looked away.

"Alex you're shy!" I teased.

"I'm not, anyway, let's just forget about all these issues and have fun. Like, let's play games and enjoy this night. Let's live the moment." He said to me.

"Ok, I like the sound of that. So, how do we live the moment?" I asked.

"Games, movies, let's just have fun." He said.

"Ok, but we need to eat first." I laughed.

"Let's go to the kitchen and fix something." I pulled him and he followed.

"So what do we have here?" I searched for the freezer...
