ROSE'S POV.

I got to school very late this morning. Sister Tayo went out very early this morning without any notice. I don't know why, but that was quite unusual for her.
"Look who came late," Alex said mockingly.

"I know right. Good morning." I smiled.

"Good morning" He smiled.

"I want to". We both said at the same time.

" you go first" I laughed.

"No, ladies first". He smiled.

" OK, ok." I raised my hands up in defeat.

"I've been meaning to ask you a question."

"Ok, go ahead" He faced me.

"Well, remember when I spent the night at your house?"

"Yeah" His facial expressions changed.

"I sort of got lost and I was in your mum's room". I looked at his face to see if I was encouraged by his look. I was so I continued.

" oh, you scared me. I thought you wanted to say something terrific, it's actually no big deal though. The room has been there for years."

"Well, I -I saw my aunt's name in her wardrobe" I stammered and continued. " I'm so sorry if I trespassed. I'm so sorry, I walked in and I saw how cool the room was I just had to check it out". I looked down, I felt bad.

"You don't have to be sorry" He smiled.

"I don't?"

"Yeah. What's your aunt's name by the way." He asked.

"Tayo Williams. I don't know if they were friends or something. I mean your mum and my aunt."

"I haven't heard of that name though." He looked confused.

"Alex?" I called.

"Yeah." He looked up at me.

"When was the last time you visited your mum?". I don't know why I had to ask.

He paused for a moment. " well, we, I mean I haven't visited her. I mean, ever since s-h-e left, I I haven't seen her". He looked away.

"What?" I exclaimed and everyone looked in our direction.

"He never took me to her".

" can you listen to yourself?"

"I- I". He was about to say a word when the English language teacher walked in.
I looked at him with such disbelief.

We closed early today. Our exam starts tomorrow and I have a lot in my head. I am not the straight-A students, I'm just an average student but I don't fail my exams though.

As usual, we walked home together.

" where's David?" I asked.

"I haven't seen him today. That was what I was about telling you the other time. Martha is truly pregnant" He smiled.

"I thought as much. That's big!" I exclaimed.

"It is" He smiled.

"Why are you smiling? She's still our friend you know".

" Do you know that David is the Father of the "pregnancy". He emphasized the word " pregnancy ".

" Omg! That's bigger." My mouth was wide open.

"Close your mouth" He laughed.

"Wow. What are they planning on doing?

" nothing, well I don't know yet though."

"So they've been dating? And..." I reserved my words.

"And what"? He faced me and smiled.

" you know what I mean, Alex". I looked at him".

"No I don't" He smiled and continued. " of course I do know what you're talking about. And yes they've been together."

Oh. Too bad"

"Enough of them. You were saying something about your aunt the other time."

"Yeah. I didn't open the document though. I thought I was trespassing.".

" oh, so would you come by to know what it's all about?" He asked further.

"Isn't that trespassing?"

"Rose, it's not. If you're curious just let's know what's it's about. Its called discovery, not trespassing."

"Oh OK." I agreed.

"So my house then?" He asked.

"Yes, your house!" I don't think this was right but I just had to find out what all that was about.

We got to his house. No gateman to welcome him, I can recollect he told me his Dad asked them all to leave.
I can't believe he stays in this mighty house alone.

"Make yourself comfortable." He smiled and left.

I dropped my bag on the chair.
A few minutes later he came without his uniform on. He looks taller in the house wears though.

"Shall we". He directed my way to his mum's room.

We got into the room and I searched the wardrobe. Luckily the document with my aunt's name was still there.

" Oh, I didn't even notice. " He said. He stood behind me and I was afraid we were too close because I could feel my back against his body.

"Well. May I open it?" I asked.

"Isn't that why we're here" He smiled.

"True". I Sighed

Tayo Williams was boldly written on the document, just as expected. I opened it and I found a wide brown envelope, I was about opening the envelope when we heard a bang on the gate. We continued, the bang became continuous and I dropped the document.
" We should go get that," I said looking at him.

"Yeah. I'll go ahead, I'll be right back" He smiled.

"Ok," I said as I watched him leave. What a charming young man, I said to myself.
I opened the envelope and I found the unexpected.

"Omg". I screamed. I closed my mouth with my right hand.

ALEX'S POV.

" Dad". I said as I welcomed him through the gate.

"Alex" He smiled. His face that was overtaken by anger and fierce the last time we met, was replaced with a smile filled with love and happiness. I hugged him, I totally buried my whole body in his.

"You didn't come with your car?" I managed to ask as he walked in. I noticed a figure behind him. A woman. She looked familiar though.

"Mum? Wait! Mum?!" I blinked to be sure of who I saw.

"Come in" He ordered her.

"My son!". She hugged me.

I touched her face to be sure she was the one. It was like a dream come true!

" just as I imagined. You've grown to become a handsome young man. I've missed a lot in your life". She said almost crying.

" I'm so sorry I never came to visit you. Dad never took me to you, and sometimes when I tried to get to you I just couldn't." I said almost crying.

"It's fine son. I'm here now!". She smiled.

" uhn? Like here, here? I asked to be sure I heard her right.

"Yes, son. Here, here!". She gave me the warmest smile I've ever seen, aside from Rose's though hers is unique. Wait Rose! She's in! I snapped myself from my thoughts.

" How were you released, mum," I asked. I was curious.

"It's a long story. But I thank God for giving me another chance. Another chance to start afresh, another chance to give you the better life you deserve. Another chance to correct my mistakes". She smiled.
I've missed you so much.

"I'll be right back.!". I walked through the other route to my mum's room. If I walked straight to hers, they could see me from where they were seated.

I quickly ran into my mum's room and Rose was nowhere to be found. I became scared so I searched each room and she wasn't there. Suddenly I heard footsteps coming from the stairs.

" Alex?" My mum said.

"Mu-mum !". I stammered.

"I've missed you so much. Alex". She smiled.

I walked towards her and hugged her. I heard the main gate close and I knew that was Rose. She must have walked through the back door.
" I think someone just came into the house? Are you expecting someone ?"

"No. That must be the wind, I forgot to close the gate. That's by the way mum, I've missed you." I smiled.

"Me too, where's my room. Your Dad said my stuff was kept in a room." She asked.

"Yeah. It's just right there!" I directed her.

"Your Dad told me you had to relocate here because of what happened. I'm so sorry Alex" She looked pitiful.

"It's fine mum. You're here now and that's all that matters".
She smiled and walked into her room.

I can't wait to see Rose.
I can't wait to tell her about the good news.
I'd want her to meet my parents but not in this scenario.
I wouldn't want her to be in an awkward situation with my parents. It would be so absurd for me to have a girl in my house and have my parents come over. I wouldn't want them to create a bad impression on her.
I'm partially grateful she sneaked out though, but I don't like the fact that I made her do so.
I hope she was able to find what she was curious about though. I might just ask my mum if she knew her aunt from anywhere.

I took a deep breath. I couldn't have been more satisfied with my life!
