"Do you like it?"

" I don't know yet." I replied.

"Well, taste it!" He said.

So he made spaghetti and sauce, not like I was expecting more though. Let's see what the great cook has to offer.
"Uhmm, it's nice, very nice."I managed to say.

" nice? Is that all, don't you like it?" He asked .

"Of course I do, It's delicious." I said.

" Be honest, so I'll correct myself next time."

"It's nice, but..." I added.

" but?" He asked.

"It's a bit overcooked, but I don't know if that's how you like it. The sauce is very delicious. I like it." I said honestly.

"Oh... Thanks for being honest". He smiled.

" you're welcome ". I added.

He walked into his room and brought out a photo album.

" This is a special album, it's made-up of the good times Tope and I spent together."

"Really." I was excited to see the pictures.

"Here was our first outing, we went to the nearby Kowope Zoo. Her parents never wanted me to take her out that day but I'm happy they allowed. Tope's mother, Mrs Kunmbi would quietly say to her husband each time I came around: " let her have fun, she's dying" she'd say this with tears in her eyes.
Kunmbi's family doctor told them that the sickle cells in her, moves through her blood vessels and they can get stuck, which causes pain and discomfort."

"Oh... She was beautiful." I looked at him.

"Yeah, Just like you." He smiled and I blushed.

"One special evening, I went to her house! I knocked but no one answered; I could hear voices inside. I shouted her name but she wasn't answering. She had been home for a week and mostly, it doesn't take that long. I was curious, I was scared.
I was about leaving when I heard Tope's voice saying " I can't move my legs mum" she was crying really hard. I knew she was having a sickle cell crisis, Her mum then said, " the doctor will soon be here Tope calm down". Hearing the both of them crying hurt me really bad, but I couldn't be of help."

"I'm so sorry." I said looking pitiful.

"Few weeks later, we were informed in school that she was admitted into a private hospital around the neighbourhood. Five classmates went to visit her and I was included.
When I saw her, I couldn't help it; she was worse than I imagined. We had a private talk and the last words she told me was:
"pray I die quickly Alex, I can't fight this anymore, I'm in pains" I cried so hard when I heard those words. She thanked me and said that the best moments she had were with me and she was grateful for that."

"Oh..." I said as tears rolled down my cheeks.

" few days later, she died." He said and covered his face with his hands, I knew he was crying.

"I'm so sorry."

"It's OK." He looked up and saw me crying.

you're crying ?" He said.

"I couldn't help it". I managed to say.

" I'm sorry I made you cry, I didn't mean to." He said.

"It's OK. Alex."

" yeah." He said.

"I know how you feel, I felt the same way when I lost my parents" I said.

"Yeah, about that. I've been wondering; have you ever wondered who assassinated your parents, didn't they run investigations on them?"

" I think they did, my uncles took care of that. I don't think they found their killers. I heard that they were robbers and they couldn't find money so they killed them."

"Oh, but someone must have given them information about your parents. I mean someone who knows them quite well." He said.

"So you think someone who knows my parents sent the killers?" I asked.

" yeah. That's what I think."

"I wish to know them though."I smiled.

" know who? The killers?"

"Yeah, the killers." I added.

He laughed and said, " why? And how do you intend to know the killers." He asked.

"I don't intend to know them, I just wish to know them. It's quite different you know." I said.

" yeah, it is." He smiled.

An hour later, my phone rang and I saw Sister Tayo calling me.
"She's here? He asked.

"I think"

"I'm at the gate. Number 15 right? Sister Tayo said.

" yes, I'll be out in a minute."I dropped the call.

"I guess that's goodbye right?" He said.

" Hell no, goodbye where? I'll be seeing you in school tomorrow."

"Yeah, that's true." He laughed.

We both went outside and Alex welcomed Sister Tayo in.
