ROSE'S POV.

I could feel my heartbeat faster than usual, I was so tensed. It was as though the earth stopped moving, it was time for me to confront the devil. Alex brought me here, I didn't want to.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Alex asked.

"Actually, I'm not. I don't think my mum would be satisfied with this decision I'm about to make, my aunt is the only maternal relative I have. I'm just not sure of how my mum's expressions would be in heaven if I turned her in." I looked down.

The police station was noisy but we could hear each other, we were allowed to see her after series of pleas.

AN HOUR EARLIER.
After explaining to Alex about how we made Yvonne fall into our trap by making her say the truth while sister Tayo eavesdropped on our conversations.
Alex and I decided to go visit her at the police station. We boarded a cab, Alex paid; he shouldn't be the one to pay since I was the one taking him along but I was with no cash so I had to act like it's no big deal and thanked him.

We got to the police station, I asked one of the policemen if I could see a detainee called Tayo; he refused. We pleaded but he refused, then I saw the policeman who was assigned to take me to the hospital. It was then I realized that bringing Alex here was a big mistake, he would definitely know that I got raped.

"Oh No," I said way too loud.

"What's that?" He asked.

"No- nothing, I'm just sad that he won't allow us to see her," I told him if only he could hear the disappointment in my voice.

"Let's go home," I told him.

"We should? After all the stress? Cmon.  Let's wait until he changes his mind." He said.

I could see the policeman coming in our direction, we had eye contact, he smiled and said: "Hi, how are you? You came to see your aunt right?".

" yeah, I came to see my aunt." I nodded.

"Oh, OK. He is?" He pointed at Alex.

"My friend, from school," I said hurriedly.

"OK. Follow me miss" He gave me a friendly look. I eyed the other policeman who refused to accept my plea and walked in. Alex followed me.
He told me to sit on a bench, he said he'll call me in a minute. Alex and I sat on the bench and we were hopeful that I'd see her.

PRESENT TIME.

Are you sure you want to do this?" Alex asked.
"Actually, I'm not. I don't think my mum would be satisfied with this decision I'm about to make, my aunt is the only maternal relative I have. I'm just not sure of how my mum's expressions would be in heaven if I turned her in." I looked down.
"This is the best decision you've taken so far Rose. Let's tell them all we know, let's fight this together." He looked at me.

"OK, I brought the document I found in your house. I can show her right? I can use this as proof against her right?" I was confused, I have never had to do things against someone, not against a relative.
"Oh OK," his expressions changed like he lost something.

"What's up Alex, what's with the face?" I asked, now I was the one trying to make him feel better.

"Nothing really, it's just that I have to turn my parents in too. It hurts you know, handing them to the police. Even though they are not my biological parents and they never acted like they were one, I still have a space in my life for them. I've known them to be my parents for years and now it seems I'm mistaken." He told me and I felt nothing but pity for him.

I was about replying him when the policeman walked up to us.
"Let's go," The policeman said to me.

"Yeah, I'd like us to talk for a moment, We have something to tell you," I said to the man. He looked like a man in his early forties, he should be understanding. It's his job by the way.

"You two? Does it have to do with the case of your aunt? Come with me to a relaxing spot" We followed him to his office, I guess. I showed him what I found in Alex's house.

" So with this, it shows she killed your parents? or she hired assassins to kill your parents? I genuinely believe you guys okay, but how do you expect me to place this to the authorities? I mean this is not enough proof, she'll be charged to court as soon as possible and might get a death sentence or life imprisonment. We all know this is first-degree murder with proof of how she intended to dump the deceased in the bush, so she'll definitely get the same or more sentence when charged to court. Except if she has a solid lawyer though." He explained.

"This was found in my house, Sir! If it wasn't real, I wouldn't be here in the first place" Alex said to him; I could see that he was already getting furious, I held his hands tightly and gave him the calm down look.

"See, young man..." He was about completing his sentence when I cut in.
"Sir, I have an idea. I'll confront her and hopefully, she'll tell me the truth, I just need a recorder." I looked at the man and he stared back at me.

"And what gives you the assurance that she'll tell you the truth? Even if she does, it makes no difference." He said.

"I know, but I want to be sure if truly she did this and why?" I said plainly.

"And if truly my *used to be* parents are hired assassins," Alex added.

"Here's is a recorder, follow me to go see her. Young man, give me your house address I'll send my colleagues to go get them" He said.

"Are you sure you can..." Alex held my hands.

"It's fine, I can do this" I smiled at him. We walked into a dark room the switch was turned on and there was light, then I saw my aunt.

"You have ten minutes." He told me.
I sat on the chair facing her.

"Rose?" Sister Tayo said.

"How have you been coping? I've called my lawyer he'll get me out of here soon and we'll be together again, okay? Oh, Rose, you must have missed me, what did you take for breakfast? Lunch?" She asked me randomly.

"Good evening ma." I smiled.

"Good evening, Rose, I want you to look at me okay. Do not mind anything they say about me okay, I'm not a bad person and I didn't kill my ex-husband." She assured me.

"You didn't? Can you recollect how you sent hired assassins to murder a man and his wife in their house and how you got away with it? But you know, this time you won't. I won't let you get away with this." I said as the tears flowed down my cheeks.

"Rose, what are you talking about?" She pretended.

"I'm talking about how you killed my parents, you murderer." I slammed the table.

"I- I don't know what you're talking about, why would I kill my only sister and her husband?" I could see her crying, I wasn't expecting her to.

"Because that's who you are, a murderer!" I brought out the document.

"Take a look at this, Remember when I told you I saw your name on a document at a friend's house? And you told me that there are many Tayo Williams, that you couldn't have been the one. Well, I saw this in Alex's house in his mum's room; I came back to you and asked if you were friends with his mum and you told me no, that you don't know what that is"    I told her while she saw the pictures in it and Tayo Williams order at the top.

"I had to." She threw the document back at me.

"You had to? You had to kill my parents? You had to make me miserable? You had to destroy those I cherish the most? You had to make me suffer? You had to kill your sister?" I cried profusely, I looked up at her.

"I'm sorry, I had to, they made me suffer, they destroyed me and still had a perfect life. They made me pay for their crimes, I lost my fiancée, my children, my dignity, and she never for once apologized for all she put me through.  I aborted seven pregnancies because of their sins!" She yelled and gripped her head with her hands.

"That's a lie, you two were really close before she died or before you had her murdered!"  I yelled back.

"You know, I've always known this day would come; I just didn't know it would be this soon. Go home, into my room, check the wardrobe. I wrote a story down for you, it's called THE FLASHBACK. It gives answers to how and why I killed your parents and many more questions. If you're done reading come back to me and tell me if your parents deserved it or not" By now we had both stopped crying.

"We're done" I yelled at the policeman in charge and stood up to take my leave.

"Rose"  She called me faintly and I couldn't help but look back at the sound of that voice.

"Read fast, I might be gone soon." A tear dropped down to her cheek. I couldn't say a word.

"I'm sorry for killing your parents but I'm not and will never be sorry for killing my sister and her husband" She smiled.

I walked outside to see Alex waiting for me. I hugged him from behind.
"Stop crying, please. How did it go?" He asked.

"It..." I started crying really hard.

"It's okay" He hugged me.

"The recorder?" He asked.

"He took it from me" I managed to say.
We were about leaving when we heard a voice behind us.

"Son?" A woman said facing Alex.

"Young man, are they your parents?" A man wearing a police uniform said.

"No, they're not my parents, but they said they are" Alex made eye contact with his mum, his Dad didn't say a word.
