Chapter 25 | Roll The Dice

Part 25

Inspired by season 3 episode 13

Anna watched as another drink came her way, she sat at the casino table, cheering and flirting. "Here you go ma'am" A waitress said and handed her the drink. Anna downed it in one go and smirked. "Hit me"

"Twenty one" The dealer said. Anna felt a presence behind her, so she turned her head slightly and saw Jay. "Yes, okay!" Anna cheered.

"Excuse me. Uh, can I get another drink over here?" Anna called out loudly, getting attention. "This is unreal" Jay said and laughed, hovering over Anna from behind.

"Do you want to take it up to the room?" Jay asked her. "Maybe later. I want to go out.  Gentlemen, Lady. Thank you" Anna said as she stumbled while getting up.

She handed the dealer a chip as a thank you and then started stuffing her chips down her purse. Anna got the cash from the chips and Jay had followed her everywhere.

"Eight, nine, thousand" The woman counting her money said. "Thank you" Anna smiled and put the money in her purse.

"Ma'am you've had a nice night. I'd like to offer you a car home" A man said, he was working at the casino. "Aw, that's so sweet. I'm actually okay to drive. Thanks" Anna said and stuffed a 100 dollar bill into his suit pocket before walking away from him.

As Anna was making her way out, stumbling and everything Jay ran up behind her. "Hey!" He called out, clearly pissed off. "Where are you going?"

"The city. I want to spend some of this" Anna said with a grin. She was drunk off her ass. "You're gonna drive?" Jay said in disbelief.

"How many whiskeys did you have? Seven?"

"Oh, now you're counting?" Anna retorted. "Yeah, when I'm dealing with a drunk, I count drinks" Jay replied, Anna gasped and slapped Jay on the side of the face, making the crowd around them gasp.

"Find someone else that needs saving" Anna scoffed. "You know what? Knock yourself out" Jay called after her.

Anna continued all the way to her car, she exhaled deeply when she was on the road, feeling ready to get on with this. She had spent a lot of hours in that horrible casino.

Her phone started ringing and she saw Jay's name flashing across the screen. She ignored it as she knew what it meant. Police sirens started wailing and Anna glanced in the rearview mirror and pulled over.

"Damnit"

A man walked up to her window as she had rolled it down. "You know why I pulled you over?" He asked. Watkins was the name on his vest.

"I have no idea, Officer" Anna said with a charming smile. "You were swerving" He answered. "Oh, um..I didn't realize that" Anna said, playing dumb.

"Coming from the casino?" He asked. "Yeah"

"Where's the cash?" He asked. "Why?" Anna questioned. "Hand it over, we can forget the whole thing. Or I could throw you on top of the hood, throw the cuffs on you, take you in for drunk driving" He threatened.

"No...I–" Anna paused and took the cash out of her purse. Scoffing at the officer and then handing it to him. The officer walked away with the money and just as he did, a car speeding towards them got his attention.

Cars blocked the road, leaving the officer nowhere to run. Anna got out of the car and aimed her gun at him. "Drop the gun!" Anna shouted.

"Patrolman, drop the gun, or I drop you" Antonio shouted. The officer dropped the gun and got onto his knees, holding his hands up.

Kevin patted the guy down and once Jay had seen Kevin had it handled, he walked up to Anna immediately. "You okay?" Anna nodded her head as she lowered her gun.

"Officer Watkins, huh? You're a disgrace to the uniform and you're under arrest. Pretty sure you know the rest of the speech" Kevin snarled.

Jay took off his jacket and put it around Anna's shoulders, she had to dress up for the casino, so she was wearing a red satin dress. Showing off skin.

Anna was freezing her ass off, it was safe to say. "You sure you're okay?" Jay asked as he secured the jacket around her small body. "Yeah, I just didn't want to believe it. I wish it wasn't true" Anna admitted and Jay nodded.

"Come on, let's get you to your date" Jay said and Anna got into his car and he drove her. She was having drinks with Zach and Jay was driving her there, how odd this situation had become.

"You look great" Jay complimented her. Anna smiled his way and noticed how he was so focused on driving her to her date. "Thank you, Jay. And I'm sorry for slapping you" Anna apologized with a small giggle.

"It's okay, now I know you can handle yourself. That was a good right hook" Jay said, laughing as well. "I'm sorry" Anna apologized again.

Anna and Zach had been dating for about two months now. Anna wasn't ready to put a label on it, but Zach was more than ready.

Twenty minutes later, Jay pulled up at the restaurant Anna and Zach were having drinks at. "Thank you for the ride, Jay. I'll see you tomorrow" Anna said and Jay nodded.

He dreaded sending her off into Zach's arms. But that was where Anna wanted to be, so he did his best to support her. Jay felt a familiar pain in his chest when Anna closed the door, he winced a little and exhaled deeply.

He had been having chest pains for two months now, he rubbed the area where it hurt and it seemed to ease the pain. As soon as it did, Jay drove off.

Anna's night ended with her and Zach appreciating each other in Zach's car. Anna moaned shamelessly as he fucked her in his car, he was on top of her in the backseat, both of them moaning and kissing sloopily.

Despite the two just dating, they both had demanding jobs, so whenever they had time together, their intimate moments were whenever they had the time and opportunity.

The two ended the night in Zach's bed, both naked and getting all of the sleep they could.

In the morning Platt was in the bullpen. "Morning Detective Sunshine" Trudy greeted Anna, who grinned and handed Platt her favorite coffee and bowed her head to the Sergeant.

"Thanks"

"Hey, Anna. You know Jay's birthday is on friday, I'm trying to do a surprise party kind of thing, are you in?" Hailey called out as the two walked together into the lunch room.

"Oh yeah, sure. I'm in, text me what you need help with" Anna said and Hailey nodded, loving the help Anna was offering. It was Jay's 30th birthday. Hailey wanted to do a big surprise party for him.

On cue Jay walked into the bullpen. Greeting everyone as he walked up to his desk. Jay noticed the two women glancing at him before continuing their talk. Jay found it suspicious but it was clear that they were talking about him.

"We have Kristie Bradford here to see Sergeant Voight" Kim and Kevin called out as they walked in with the witness. "Of course, I'm Detective Jay Halstead. Would you follow me?" Jay spoke up.

The woman followed Jay and as Anna and Hailey exited the lunch room, the two fell silent when they saw Kristie.

Jay and Kristie saw in Voight's office where they went through pictures of the guy who impersonated a cop and beat her up.

But it turned out there were more guys out there, pretending to be cops because the guy who did it to her, wasn't one of the suspects.

Voight and Antonio interrogated the fake cop from last night. And got a name Clayton Howard, Kim and Kevin went out to see if the guy was the guy behind the scam.

Quickly the team confirmed that it was a car that was inactive and the guy came out and got into the squad car, though it took two seconds before he started shooting at Kim and Kevin.

"10-1 shots fired at police!" Kim called out over the radio. The team geared up and hurried out. But Clayton was gone by the time they got there.

Kim got a nasty gash on the side of her head but other than that the two officers were okay. Jay and Anna went out to talk to Officer Mularz. Jay kept glancing at Anna, waiting for something to happen, just so he'd find out what she and Upton was up to.

"Officer Mularz" Jay called out. "Yeah?" He said. "Detective Halstead and Lorenzi, we're with Intelligence" Jay said.

"We got a couple questions about your badge" Anna started out and Jay sat on the table next to Mularz. "That. I reported it lost two weeks ago. It's embarrassing. I got my suspension days coming" Mularz said.

"How'd you lose it?" Jay asked and crossed his arms. "I work security at a club. Stirp Club. Girl comes in, wants to see the girls dance. Says she got a thing for cops" Mularz said.

"Nice" Jay laughed and Anna rolled her eyes a little. "Wanted to see my badge. And I came clean with this to my sergeant" Mularz finished.

"Yeah, problem is, someone used your badge for a robbery last night" Anna cut in. "Oh, man" Mularz muttered and sighed. "I hate hearing that. Every cops worst nightmare, right?"

"Especially when a lady almost gets her face bashed in" Anna added. "Fifteen minutes ago, another person posing as a cop opened up on two of our own, and he's still out there" Jay said.

"Okay, I just reached the point where I don't know what this has to do with me" Mularz snapped. "Are you involved?" Anna retorted. "In robbing people?"

"That's right" Jay replied. Mularz stood up and Jay gave him a warning look. "I ought to lay you out right where you stand" Mularz said. "I'd advise against trying that" Jay simply said.

Franklin Haynes, who was identified by a spotter at the casino, was found dead by the team. He was shot in his bathroom. The whole thing turned out to be bigger than the team thought and multiple people were involved, dangerous people.

How'd ya like that? 👀
