Seonghwa's point of view

I watch as Nia clings on to Mingi for dear life. She's a mess, and it's understandable. Biological or not that was her mother, the only mother she's ever known. Sure things were a little rocky due to this arranged marriage but nevertheless she loved her mom.

Mingi was even a little heartbroken as well.

I leave her with him to grieve. This is getting insane, his wife and daughter is on their target list. Hongjoong types away on the computer groaning once he hits a dead end.

Yeosang: We won't be able to help if he doesn't tell us the truth.

And that's all there is to it. We can go in circles all day but unless this asshole tells us what he did and to whom we'll never have clear sight.

My dad said he's working on getting the information but I'm starting to doubt that as well.

Jongho: It says here sometimes last year her father went into business with someone named Tom Wang, the business went into bankruptcy shortly after leaving Wang to commit suicide. Her dad didn't even go to his late business partner's funeral.
Me: He's a dick, we been knew that. What else?
Jongho: Months later he went into business with someone else, two years later bankruptcy.
Me: And the business partner?
Jongho: Moved to America supposedly.

Someone filing for bankruptcy and moving to another country? Not impossible, but questionable.

Hongjoong: He has a long track record of business partners.
San: He seems like a walking bankruptcy curse.

No kidding.

Mingi comes downstairs shaking his head.

Mingi: She's a mess.
Wooyoung: Poor thing.

I rub my temples, why did he stay in that house when I clearly told him his own home wasn't safe? Then to have a bullet fly through your window hitting your wife, a mess.

Hongjoong: What bothers me is I can't find any records of Nia's adoption.
Me: My dad and I did.
Hongjoong: From her old man right?

I nod.

Hongjoong: That orphanage doesn't exists, and there's no information on anyone named Nia.
Me: What?

He shows his computer screen to me and he's right. So what the hell was that file my dad and I seen? The front door opens and Yunho walks in. He's been missing in action for a few days because of business affairs with Suzy's family.

Yunho: How goes it?
Jongho: It's hell, Nia's mom got killed.
Yumho: What!
San: Shot through the skull.

Yumho sighs.

Yumho: How's Nia?
Mingi: Not good.
Yumho: That's to be expected. So what now?
Me: Tomorrow we're going to question her father about everything, Mingi and Wooyoung will stay here with Nia.

They all nod agreeing with the plan.

Nia's point of view

I'm just wishing I wake up any moment now. It's all a dream, my mother's death, killing that man, the marriage, everything.

That's a wish, but this is reality.

Sitting around and crying about it has never helped anything. My mother didn't deserve to die because of what my father did. This whole thing is a mess, and quite frankly I'm tired. I'm tired of feeling like a hopeless victim.

I wipe my tears and pull myself together. Once I go downstairs they all look at me, sympathetic smiles all around.

Me: Seonghwa.

He raises an eyebrow.

Me: Take me to see my dad.
Seonghwa: No.
Me: Now.
Seonghwa: No.
Me: Either you take me or I'm going by myself.

He narrows his eyes.

Seonghwa: What?
Yunho: Nia you being upset is understandable, but you don't want to make a decision out of anger. You just need to think for a moment.
Me: I did, take me to my dad. I want to ask him something.

They exchange looks.

Seonghwa: Fine.
