I love how my dad is pretending nothing is different, he's chewing his steak with the dumbest smile on his face.
Jackass.
Dad: So how's thing with you and Seonghwa?
Me: Awkward.
Dad: Why?
Because you basically sold me into a marriage.
Me: Well that'll happen when two strangers are forced to marry.
Dad: You aren't complete strangers, you guys met once when you were toddlers.
I roll my eyes, how the hell am I suppose to remember that? I didn't even remember Mingi.
Dad: Don't worry I have just the thing to knock that awkwardness out.

"A CABIN TRIP?"
I cover my ears as Seonghwa screeches to the top of his lungs, this boy has some pipes on him. Mr.Park shrugs going along with my father's stupid plan.
Dad: It'll be good to bond more before the wedding.
Seonghwa: I'm busy, I don't have time for this.
Mr.Park: Your team has already been notified. They'll handle your schedule for this week.
They ignore our objections, like always.
Dad: Better start packing, the driver will be here in a hour.
The cabin he speaks of is a hour away. It's a secluded beautiful area, we use to go a lot when I was younger but do I want to go now? No.
The drive there was painful. Seonghwa stared out the window the whole time so I put in my earphones. I don't expect much but a simple conversation would've been nice.
Once we arrive I take in the view of the flowers, absolutely breath taking. The lake is the same as always dirty and large.
We enter and Seonghwa frowns.
Seonghwa: How many bedrooms?
Me: One.
Seonghwa: One?
I knew he'd yell.
Me: This cabin was for family time so we shared a bedroom. We'd sleep in sleeping bags on the floor. That's why I brought a separate suitcase full of blankets.
He groans.
My dad had one of the butlers bring grocery out here before we got here. At least we'll have food for the weekend.
Me: Are you hungry?
Seonghwa: No.
His stomach growls.
Me: Who lies about something that dumb?
Seonghwa: Shut up.
I go into the kitchen preparing to make whatever seems easiest. My cooking skills aren't the best but it is edible.
Seonghwa: No reception?
Me: A cabin made for private time, my dad didn't want us distracted by technology.
Seonghwa: Your dad is a sociopathic narcissist!
I mean, he's not wrong. Look at the situation I'm in? All for the sake of business.
In the midst of me chopping carrots I cut my thumb. I curse under my breath before scrambling to find the first aid kit, Seonghwa notices and groans.
He turns on the water and pull my hand under it.
Seonghwa: You sit down before you kill yourself, I'll cook.
Me: You? Cook?
He rolls his eyes again.
Seonghwa: You're making beef and vegetables, it isn't exactly rocket science.
I sit on a stool quietly while he finishes chopping and cleaning the vegetables.
Seonghwa: How do you know Mingi?
Me: Childhood friends.
He hums.
Me: How did he get into your line of work?
Seonghwa: His father is an assassin.
My eyes widen.
Me: What? Mr.Song use to take us to the amusement park every weekend, he doesn't seem like the type.
Seonghwa: So naive.
I blink.
Seonghwa: People who are good at their job will never look like the type.
Me: Well you do.
He raises an eyebrow.
Seonghwa: Oh? Are you calling me scary?
Me: Scary? No. Intimidating? Yes.
This cabin must have powers, this is the longest he's ever talked to me.
Me: You never said how you felt about all this marriage stuff.
Seonghwa: I've express my disdain for this situation plenty of times. Our families have their reasonings I suppose.
He looks at me.
Seonghwa: And you're not the ugliest thing so, I guess it's alright.
My mouth falls open.
I liked it better when he didn't talk.
