Zhan kept his hand over his mouth to hide his yawn as he sat in the middle of the room filled with boring conversations that he had absolutely no interest in.

People talked about things that he had no interest in, or the usual about how things were going or how people were handling their respective jobs.

His father the head sat on the chair at the corner happily discussing God knows what with his subordinate who was also Gina's father and a close family friend, his mother sat beside his father. And on the other side of his father sat his subordinate Billy his wife and Gina.

Zhan sat beside his mother and beside him sat his brother Marius and sister-in-law Ziyi. And then Simon.

Zhan just focused on his food, when his brother Marius said in a soft voice, "it's pretty obvious that you do not want to be here but still can you make it a little less obvious?"

Zhan just looked at his brother and sighed, "I am trying, But I can't take all this boring shit anymore."

"Just a few more minutes," Marius said.

Zhan just gave him a nod and focused on his food which was tasteless. He missed Yibo and he wondered what the latter was up to.

Finally, after the dessert was done Zhan was eager to just leave the place and go away, however, his family insisted on him staying.

"Come on Zhan, once in a while we meet like this, enjoy yourself," Ziyi said as she sat beside him.

Zhan looked at her and smiled, Ziyi was his sister-in-law and someone he respected a lot, and he treated her like his elder sister, "We practically live in the same neighborhood, and you know that I love spending time with you and brother, and Simon, I am always at your house most of the time, even Marius gets angry by the amount of time I stay at your place and throws me out.

You know it's not you, it's this boring atmosphere, mom and dad constantly talking about work and what not and their attempts at matchmaking and the jabs that mom takes at you, I also do not like how they treat you and brother."

Ziyi smiled, "Your brother loves having you around, don't take his words seriously."

"I know he loves having a free errand boy like me at home." The two laughed and Ziyi said, "your parents will come around and honestly I and your brother do not care, what they say about us, we are more worried about you though."

Ziyi was practically a nobody, she had no family, no surname she was nothing. Her identity was reduced to another one of the assassins of the Nexus Syndicate. Someone whose life held no value and this is why she was not a suitable person for the heir of the Xiao's

However, Zhan's brother Cheng went against all odds to marry her, and even went against his family which made his position as the heir unstable people now thought Zhan was the suitable heir and Zhan knew this and hated this.

His parents were control freaks, who loved to control and since Marius went against them, Zhan knew that they would leave no opportunity to taunt him or turn the brothers against each other by praising Zhan before Marius.

And Zhan absolutely hated this, he cherished his brother perhaps more than his parents, while Ziyi worried that Zhan's parents might become sterner with him and try to control him even more.

"Forget it, tell me how is your dating life going? How is Yibo? When are you introducing him to us."

Zhan smiled as he looked at Ziyi, and she could see how Zhan's face brightened when Yibo's name was mentioned, "It's going well, there are a few arguments here and there but we are able to talk things out most of the time.

He is wonderful Zee, he listens, he is attentive, he knows how to communicate, and he can be moody but he is adorable. I can't wait to introduce him to you guys, it's just..."

"It's just? What?"

Zhan sighed, "I sometimes feel very guilty for lying to him and sometimes I feel so scared about because of my profession I am afraid that he might reject me."

"Zhan... "

"And I also know about the rules... I am also worried about his safety and all you know."

"Zhan...I have no idea what to say, or how to comfort you... on one hand the relationship should have no secrets and you should reveal things in the start so that you guys can decide what to do further, but then... your case is different..."

The two became quiet for a few seconds, "Why so down?"

A third voice said as Marius joined the two, she casually snaked his arm around Ziyi and gave her a kiss on the forehead and sighed, "Recharged."

The two smiled and Marius asked, "So what were you guys talking about?"

Zhan told him everything and Marius nodded, "That's a tough one... sometimes somethings should be left on fate and time, but hey, once I inherit everything and kill all these old hags, I will give you won't have to worry about these stupid rules of the syndicate, at least I can help you that much."

"Thanks, brother."

"You welcome brat. Now shall we leave... Zhan call Simon and tell him to meet us near the car... let's get out of here."
