TAWNYA'S POV:
/////////////////////////////
Everyone was in a mad scramble to get the rest of the stuff we left in the trucks and camper. We all sprinted back to the building and in. Once we were all inside the,guy pushed a button and the door closed. We all looked at him expectantly, waiting for anything.
"My name is Doctor Edwin Genner." she started. "I need to run blood tests on all of you, get more information about the virus." he said. No one protested as he lead us to an elevator. He had it take us below ground.
"Are any of you dangerous?" he asked Rick.
"No, we're all just trying to survive." he said. Genner looked down at Carl, who looked up at him.
"I don't know, I'm gonna have to keep an eye on you." the doctor said playfully. Carl smiled and giggled a little. I just rolled my eyes slightly. Once the elevator reached its destination we all stepped out.
Genner lead us down a hallway full of rooms, giving each if us our own. Dad and I got a room together of course, and so did Carl, Rick, and Lori.
Dad and I's room had only one bed and a couch, a bathroom of course and a small little kitchen area. It looked kinda like a motel room. Dad told me to take the bed and I didn't argue. It had been a long time since I'd slept on a bed, of course I would've been happy with the couch, it looks just as comfortable as the bed. Before Genner left us he said that there was some, hot water left, but to use it sparingly. Dad showered first, really quickly.
When I finally got to shower I was the happiest i'd ever been. I took my dear sweet time, shaved myself down and everything. I walked out in a pair of blue jeans and a plain rust red muscle shirt. I found Lori and Carl on their way out of their room and I followed close to them.
"What do you think is in this place?" Carl asked, looking up at me. I shrugged. "I'm gonna guess lots of computers." I said. Carl smiled slightly. We met everyone in this room that was kinda shaped like a dome, computers sitting on desks that were in a half circle, all facing a gaibt screen. A bunch of images were on the screen, mainly cells and viruses, and a bunch of paragraphs of information, some of it too small to read.
I found dad and walked over to him. He looked over at me with a raised brow, asking is I was okay, and I nodded. We leaned against one of the wall things dividing the computer desks and just tried to gather as much information from the screen as possible.
Finally Dr. Tenner walking in. "Vi, say hello to our guests." he said, closely followed by a slightly monotone, yet scarily human sounded voice doing as he said, the sound echoing around the room for a second before fading away.
"So Vi is like Jarvis from the Iron Man comics?" Carl asked as he looked up at Genner, who smiled and nodded. "Yeah, exactly like Jarvis." he said.
---
I was the last one to be called for blood tests. I was sitting in the chair, waiting for Tenner to shove a needle in my arm. When he did I unintentionally tensed up, probably making both of our lives a little more difficult.
"What's your name?" Tenner asked as he sucked up my blood, the sight not sickly fascinating than anything.
"Tawnya Dixon." I said. Tenner raised a brow as he pulled the needle out of my arm.
"Are you Carl's daughter? Or are you his niece or something like that?" he asked.
"He's my dad." I responded as Gebber put the blood in some little machine.
"I should've guessed, you look just like him." he said as he wiped my arm clean and put a little circle bandaid on it. I got off of the table and gave him a polite smile before walking to the door and to the kitchen/dining section,in the back of the computer room where everyone else was.
I sat down next to Glenn, who was taking a shot if something and wincing like he just tasted the devils asshole. I couldn't help but laugh with everyone else.
"Don't be a pussy Glenn!" I teased, making him push me lightly. I laughed and shook my head. "I bet I could take that shot without making a face." I challenged.
"I don't know about that sunshine." Dad said. I glared up at him.
"Whose side are you on here?" I asked.
"Fine. If ya really wanna do it, this is gonna be good." Dad said as I grabbed another shit glass. Andrea filled both Glenn and i's. We picked up our glasses.
"On three." dad said. Glenn and I nodded. "One." deep breath. "Two." exhale. "Three!" I knocked the shot back and swallowed it instantly. It took everything I had not to contort my face like a baby eating a lemon for the first time, but Glenn on the other hand, he didn't have that much self control.
"Ha!" I said as I jumped up, victoriously. Everyone was laughing at us. "Keep drinking, I wanna so how red your face can get." Dad teased as he poured Glenn another glass.
"Can I try some?" Carl asked as he pointed to Lori's glass. Lori looked up at Rick who shrugged.
"Knock yourself out." she said as she slid it closer to him. I didn't expect it to be that bad considering she just had wine. Carl's read too said otherwise. He took a sip and made the most disgusted face ever as he forced himself to swallow it.
"Ewww!" he whined as Lori took her wine and traded it out for water. "That's my boy." she said as he took a huge drink of water.
That's the last night for a ling while that I can remember being that truly happy.
---
I was in dad and i's room sitting on the bed, dad on the couch.
"How long do you think this is gonna last?" I asked quietly. Dad was silent for a while.
"I dunno." he answered.
"It seems way too good to be true." I said. I heard dad get up. He walked over and sat down next to me.
"I know it does sunshine." dad said as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Just get some rest and try not to think about it." He said. I nodded be for she kissed me on the top of the head. Dad got up and walked over to the couch, plopping down with a grunt. I sighed and crawled under the covers and closed my eyes. It seemed as though I fell asleep instantly.
