Hello you wonderful people! Once again, I am so grateful for those who have stayed loyal and have been patient with me as I attempt to find time to write my story. Luckily I've had today off work so I've finally had a few hours to sit and write! Can't believe how far this story has come and I can't thank you all enough for your continued love and support while I write! Obviously this story is my priority at the moment but I do fully intend to try and update some of my other stories very very soon!

So without further ado, here's chapter 87 of the Archer Queen! The baby is nearly here so things are getting very exciting!

It was early afternoon when Cassy found herself finally getting out of bed and getting dressed for the day or whatever little of it remained. Kili had been awoken much earlier to go and help his older brother with their various royal duties while Kili insisted that Cassy remain in bed and get some rest.

She hadn't been sleeping well lately due to how uncomfortable she felt with her now fully grown baby bump. Kili had been the first to notice and kept trying to make her stay off her feet but the Princess of Erebor was as stubborn as they came. Which is why it was surprising that she had listened to Kili this morning without a single word of protest and had remained in bed.

Cassy now sat in front of her mirror at her dressing table, fully dressed and was busy brushing her tangled hair when there was a soft knock at the door.

"Come in!" she called out and smiled when she saw Bombur enter the room, a bright smile dawning the ginger dwarf's round face.

"My friend! I feel like I haven't seen you in days!" she said as she slowly staggered to her feet and pulled the large dwarf into a gentle hug.

"Aye lass, I've been in Dale with most of the others helping the rebuilding of the city," he explained as he ushered her back into the chair, being wary of her condition.

"And how are the repairs coming along?"

"Very well indeed," he smiled proudly, "Bard says they should be finished in no later than two months if everything carries on as planned."

"That's excellent news!" Cassy smiled happily, "I wish I could see how its coming along."

"Prince Kili still forbidding you from leaving the safety of Erebor, then lass?" he chuckled.

"He's being protective, its not just me he's worrying about now," she said as she rubbed her swollen belly with a fond smile. "Now he's twice as protective as before."

"Well I can't say I blame him," he said, "The safety and well-being of you and the little one is our main priority."

Cassy smiled, "I really appreciate that, its just I -"

"You miss the freedom to go out and do what you've always been able to do?" he asked.

She nodded with a sigh. "I miss riding, and hunting, and training," she said, "I miss being able to walk without feeling so sore and uncomfortable."

"I can't imagine what you're going through lass, but just so you know, we're all here to help," Bombur explained as he picked up her hair brush and without asking for permission began brushing Cassy's hair for her, making her smile in thanks.

"Thank you, Bombur," she said, "I'm really happy you came by. I miss you all when you're out doing your various duties and jobs."

"You'll be very busy in a matter of weeks when the little one arrives," he chuckled, "You might want to enjoy the peace and quiet while you can."

She grinned at the dwarf through her reflection as he began pulling her long, dark hair into a thick braid down her back. "Well we've already got the nursery and everything ready and prepared," she explained as she gestured to the room that was attached to her and Kili's bedroom. "There's not much else to do now but wait for the little one to arrive."

"Are you still adamant that its a boy?" he asked.

"I can't explain it," she laughed. "I've just had this feeling that he's a boy."

"Mother's are usually right about this sort of thing," he told her as he secured her braid into place.

"Perhaps you're right," she smiled as he helped her to her feet and led her over to the full length mirror on the other side of the room.

Bombur smiled at his friend, "There, now you're looking more like your old self again."

She couldn't help but smile happily up at the large dwarf. "You have no idea how much I needed this, thank you, my dear friend."

She hugged him tightly, being mindful of her stomach before she turned back to look at her reflection with a fond smile.

Bombur looked down at the ground for a moment, his own happy smile lighting up in his face at the knowledge that he had helped his friend feel better. He had seen how the pregnancy had been taking its toll on her, even Kili had voiced his own concerns to the company about how tired and unlike herself Cassy had been acting the past few weeks towards the end of her pregnancy. But Bombur knew that as soon as the little one was born, Cassy would be back to her old self and everything would fall into place for them.

Bombur suddenly looked up in alarm when Cassy's hand grasped his arm tightly, her eyes widening in alarm as a pained gasp escaped her lips. Immediately, Bombur knew something was wrong. He took Cassy's hand in his and looked at her in panic, frantically asking what was wrong, "Are you okay, Cassy? Is something wrong?" he asked squeezing her hand as his gaze flickered to her belly with she was holding as she doubled over in obvious pain. "Is it the baby?" he asked, realisation dawning on his face.

Cassy met his gaze with her own bright green one. She nodded, her face still looking alarmed. "The baby's coming," she gasped.

Bombur mirrored Cassy's alarmed and surprised look before he tried to compose himself. "Okay, here's what we're going to do," he began.

Kili sat beside his brother in the Council Chambers with the majority of the company and a few other select individuals as they went over the latest pieces of council business. Kili was beyond bored and he just wanted to get back to his chambers to see Cassy, to make sure she was feeling better and to just be in her company. Just as the meeting was coming to an end, the doors to the Council Chambers flew open and Bombur stumbled inside.

Everyone's attention flew to the dwarf, wondering what his hurry was. He had obviously ran from somewhere considering how flushed his face was and how out of breath he was. He stood leaning against the thick oak door as he inhaled as much oxygen as he could so he could catch his breath.

"What's the matter, Bombur?" Fili asked, a worried frown marring his face as they all looked at their friend in concern.

"Its Cassy!" he gasped out, his attention set on Kili, "The baby is coming!"

The chamber fell into silence for a moment and as if a switch had been flicked, everyone broke out into yells and questions, all wondering if they had heard the dwarf correctly.

"The baby is coming?!" Kili asked, wide eyed.

Bombur nodded frantically and without another word, Kili ran from the room closely followed by the others who all seemed to come to their senses, even though they wouldn't be allowed in the room, they all wanted to be nearby to hear the news.

The afternoon of that day was the day that Cassy went into labour.

And the early morning of the next day was the day Caspian was born.
