*Cassy's POV*
A small sigh escaped my lips as I rolled over in the bed, subconsciously snuggling closer to the warmth that Kili was radiating. I felt a smile tug at my lips as Kili's arms wrapped around me and pulled me impossibly closer to his body in his sleep.
I couldn't remember a time that I had felt so... content. It had been three weeks since the incident with Donovan and the nightmares had finally stopped. I didn't allow myself to think about what had happened and instead I focused on being happy and living my life with Kili and our unborn child. Truthfully I was terrified of being a mother - I had no idea how to raise a child and I didn't know whether I would be a good enough mother... what if I was a terrible parent?
My thoughts were interrupted when Kili began to stir in his sleep, his grip tightening around me protectively. Another sigh left my lips as Kili nuzzled his face into my neck and I allowed my eyes to flutter open when I felt him press his lips to the soft skin of my neck. I moved my head to look up at him when he looked down at me.
"Good morning, my love," he said as he rubbed circles on the skin of my hip with his thumb.
"Morning," I mumbled tiredly before he gently cupped my face in his hands and connected his lips against mine. I would never get tired of this, I was certain about that.
I smiled into the kiss and responded by pressing mine more firmly against his. When we eventually broke apart, I found myself staring into his hazel eyes as his gaze roamed over my face just like he did every morning.
"What?" I asked him as he continued to stare at me.
"I can't get over how lucky I am to have someone as perfect as you," he told me, his thumb trailing over the skin of my neck.
I smiled up at him as I ran one of my hands down his bare chest, "I'm not perfect, Kili," I told him, "But I am one hell of a lucky woman to have you in my life."
He grinned down at me. His smile always made my heart thump wildly in my chest and I doubted he would ever stop having that effect on me.
He leaned down and kissed me again but this time I wrapped my arms around his neck as he deepened the kiss. I gasped when he gently flipped us over so that he was on top of me but was supporting his weight on his arms so that he didn't crush me. I grinned up at him when we broke away for air. Was it possible to be this happy?
"I love you," I told him as I ran my thumb over the stubble on his defined jaw.
His grin only widened before he began peppering light kisses all over my face; on my nose, forehead, temples and cheeks before he kissed along my jaw and down my neck.
He pulled back with a happy smile, "I love you too," he said before he pulled up the bottom of my shirt, revealing my stomach that had already formed into a small bump, and placed a kiss to the smooth skin of my pregnant belly, "I love both of you."
His words only succeeded in brightening my mood even more - if that was even possible.
"How did I get so lucky to have you?" I breathed out a happy sigh as he leaned back over me to place a kiss to the corner of my mouth.
"You never needed luck to get me," he told me honestly, "You had my attention from the moment you stepped into Bilbo's dining room all those months ago. You had my admiration from the first time I saw you fight when we took on the trolls. You had my trust when you saved my life for the first time. And you had my heart from the moment we met."
My smile widened as I brought my hand up to the back of his neck and pulled him down to my level. My nose brushed his as I stared into his eyes, "Our baby will be lucky to have you," I told him honestly before I pressed a chaste kiss to him lips.
He pulled away and looked down at me, "You're going to be a wonderful mother," he told me.
"What if I'm not?" I asked him as I finally confessed my doubts to him.
He held my face in his hands, "I know you're scared to be a parent for the first time - I am too. But as long as I have you by my side I know I can be a great father to our baby girl and you will be a wonderful mother, I know you will."
I grinned up at him, "So you think we're having a baby girl, huh?" I asked him.
His face lit up and he nodded, "I know we're having a girl - she'll have your curly dark hair, my eyes and amazing archery skills like her parents."
I laughed, "I think it'll be a boy," I told him as I pressed a hand to my pregnant belly.
"You do, huh?"
My eyes brightened, "Yep, he'll look just like you, but smaller, with the Mandaria purple eyes like I have."
"I do love your eyes," he said as he kissed my cheek.
"And I sense a bet coming on," I smirked up at him.
"You want to bet on whether our child will be a boy or a girl?" he asked me.
"Damn right I want to bet on it," I told him.
"So what do you want if you win the bet and we have a boy?" he asked me.
"I'll have to think about it," I grinned up at him, "What do you want if we have a girl?"
"I'll have to think about it," he repeated what I had just said with a smirk of his own.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"But just so you know," he said, "I'll love our baby no matter what the gender."
I smiled up at him, "So will I," I said, "But even so, you do know you're gonna lose this bet, right?" I asked him.
"Oh really and why's that?" he raised an eyebrow at me.
"Because I'm nearly always right," I told him.
"Yeah, nearly always," he grinned.
Before I could make a smart comeback, he had closed the distance between us and crushed his lips against mine. I groaned against his mouth and wrapped my arms around him to pull him as close to me as possible.
