*Cassy's POV*

I rolled my eyes at Fili and laughed along with the others at his outburst. Kili's arm snaked around my waist and pulled me in for a hug. I hugged him back tightly and laughed when Fili hugged us as well and soon some of the others joined in and we had a big group hug.

We all pulled away and laughed for the first time since Rivendell. I looked at Kili to see him staring at me before he kissed my cheek causing me to blush. I smiled up at him and entwined my fingers with his. He grinned at me and I couldn't help but feel a tingling feeling in my stomach when he did that.

*Thorin's POV*

My voice suddenly cut through the heavy silence that had settled on the cliff.

"Get ready, we will descend into the valley!" I announced.

I watched as Cassy entwined her fingers with Kili's as he grinned at her. I couldn't help but frown slightly at the thought of Kili liking someone who wasn't a dwarf but I could see that my nephew truly liked her, a lot so I decided not to say anything. Instead I began to lead the rest of the company down from the Carrock.

*Kili's POV*

The descent was harder than I had imagined. Massive stair-like carvings led down the Carrock, most of them so high even Gandalf had trouble climbing down. We resolved to teamwork. Always two dwarfs going ahead and then helping the next two down from the upper ledge. I found myself next to my brother, whilst Oin and Gloin helped the two of us down, while the two of us helped Bofur and Cassy. I couldn't help but glance at Cassy worriedly every now and then, I could see that she was struggling with every ledge due to her injured arm. I saw her pained expression every time she had to put pressure on her arm to climb down, which only made me be more careful when helping her down.

It took us half of the day until we finally found ourselves on the grass again, the Carrock reaching up behind us.

"We will continue on until we find somewhere we can shelter for the rest of the day." Thorin announced, knowing that every member of our company was exhausted, tired and some even injured and that we desperately needed a break. So my uncle led us on with Gandalf at his side. It took us longer than we had wished and the sun was already at its highest in the sky when we finally found ourselves on the edge of a tiny lake, a small stream purling through the bushes and flowed into the lake. We would definitely have enough shelter here and we could take a bath in the lake, which was definitely needed for all of us if I was honest.

"We camp here." Thorin called out, turning around just in time to see most members of the company slumping down on the spot where they stood. As we set up camp, Bombur started to cook with what little was left from our trials of the last hours. We had lost most of our provisions in Goblin Town.

"You all need to make yourselves presentable to Beorn, I strongly suggest a bath in the river..." Said Gandalf to all of us.

"Who's Beorn?" I asked.

"Beorn is the one who carved those steps in the Carrock. He's the only person that lives nearby. I think we may be able to replenish our supplies and get something to eat there. You all must be very polite to him when I introduce you, for he can be very appalling when he's angry, so you better be careful not to annoy him. He's very strong and he's a skin-changer."

Kili's jaw almost dropped at the revelation and he quickly tried to focus his thoughts when Bilbo inquired further, not quite understanding what Gandalf meant.

"What? A furrier?"

Kili saw Cassy roll her eyes slightly as Gandalf hurriedly cried out. "No! No, no, NO! Good heavens! Don't be a fool, Master Baggins. And do not mention the word furrier as long as you are within a hundred miles of his house, he would not take kindly to it at all, I assure you."

Kili glanced at Bilbo, he chuckled lightly at the stupefied look on his face. "He is a skin-changer." Gandalf continued, a bit calmer now. "Which means he actually changes his skin. Sometimes he is a huge black bear, sometimes he is a great strong black-haired man."

"Oh! Oh..." Bilbo muttered, at loss for a good thing to say.

"You see, some say that Beorn is a bear descended from the great ancient bears of the mountains that lived there before the giants came. Others say that he is a man descended from the first men who lived before Smaug or any other dragons came into this part of the world. I cannot say, though I fancy the last is the true tale." Said Gandalf. "So, as I said you ALL need to make yourselves look presentable for Beorn, perhaps a clean in the lake?"

We all stayed quiet for a moment, not knowing if Gandalf was serious or not, especially Thorin. From beside me I saw Cassy smirk before she removed her bag, boots, cloak and her navy blue corset so she was only wearing her dark purple shirt and black breeches. She winked at me before she removed her bow and quiver, her sword and long dagger before she began removing the numerous number of daggers from underneath her clothes. How did she even hide that many daggers? I thought. She removed her hair from her braid and ran straight to the lake and dived in head first causing us all to chuckle at her.

Bofur and Bombur looked at each other with a playful look and quickly started to remove their shoes, belts, weapons and coats, staying only with their pants and shirts on before running towards the lake, that was shallow and clear, stony at the ford.

The others didn't wait for one more minute to do the same, running happily to the river, even Thorin seemed relieved to finally rest. I grinned and removed my coat, weapons and belt before Fili and I ran into the water as well.

I swam over to Cassy when I saw her head break through the surface of the water. Once I got close enough to her she splashed me. I smirked at her before I splashed her back and soon enough the others joined in our water fight and we began dunking each other under the water. I laughed when Fili was pushed under and began spluttering when he returned to the surface. My eyes widened when I felt someone jump on my back and push me under the water. Once I resurfaced I turned and saw Cassy grinning at me as she waded in the water.

I smirked and began swimming towards her. Her eyes widened and before she could turn and swim away I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her towards me. She began to squirm and I laughed at her as she tried to move but I kept a firm grip on her waist.

"Kili, let me go!" She said as she giggled.

"Not until you apologize for dunking me under the water." I replied.

"Oh come on! That was funny!" She said as she turned around in my arms so that she was facing me.

"So is this!" I said grinning at her.

I leaned in and placed a chaste kiss on her lips and then smiled at her as she rested her forehead against mine.

"Yeah, this is fun." She murmured before she pecked me on the lips.

"Will you two get a room or something!" Yelled Fili as he splashed Cassy and I causing us to jump apart slightly.

"If you don't want to see it, then don't watch!" Said Cassy as she splashed him back. She turned back to me and kissed me on the cheek before she swam towards the shallower water to wash the dirt of off herself. I grinned to myself as I swam over to the others who were attempting to get cleaned up as well.

After a few minutes I climbed out of the lake and laid down on the grass to allow the sun to dry me and my clothes. I looked to my right when I felt someone lay down beside me. I smiled at Cassy and entwined my fingers with her's as we just stared up at the sky in a comfortable silence.
