*Kili's POV*

My eyes fluttered open slowly and the first thing I was met by was the bright light of the sun rays on my face. After I blinked and my eyes adjusted to the morning light I realised that I was not alone in my bed. Cassy was curled up next to me with her head on my tunic clad chest while my arms were around her in a protective way.

I smiled down at her sleeping form and gently stroked the hair out of her face. She was beautiful.

I frowned when I remembered why she was in my bed...

I suddenly sat up in my bed when I heard a knock at my bed chamber  door. Slowly I pulled back my bed covers and stood up, making my way over to the door.

I pulled it open and my confused frown turned into a worried one when I saw Cassy stood there. She was only wearing a large buttoned night shirt that reached her mid thigh and at any other time I would've blushed at seeing her with such little clothing but I was distracted by seeing the tear stains on her cheeks and looking at her shaking figure.

"Cassy?" I breathed as I pulled the door further open. "What happened my love?" My hands came to rest gently on her shoulders in comfort.

"I had a nightmare." She said scrunching her eyes shut as another  tear ran down her cheek.

"Oh come here." I told her as I opened my arms.

She immediately stepped into my embrace and wrapped her arms around my neck as she cried against my neck.

"Shhh. Its okay, Cassy. I'm here." I comforted her in a whisper as I hugged her tighter.

"It was about the battle... it was about Caspian." She said against my neck.

I nodded, now knowing why she was so upset about a nightmare. It was her reliving the battle.

"Do you want to stay here tonight?" I asked her gently, my hold on her never loosening. I didn't want to let her go back to her room in this state and beside I knew that I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing she was upset.

"Yes please."  She replied.

I smiled in relief and released her enough to wrap my arm under her legs while my other arm supported her back as I carried her into my room after kicking the door closed behind us.

I gently laid her in my bed and climbed in after her, pulling her against me in a protective cuddle as I wrapped the covers over us.

"Thank you." I heard her mumble against my neck.

"Its okay, you're safe with me. I love you Cassy." I whispered into her soft curly hair.

"I love you too Kili." She smiled up at me and gently placed her lips to mine.

I immediately returned the kiss and after a minute we pulled apart with smiles adorning our features.

"You should get some sleep. I'll be right here." I told her and she nodded in agreement.

"Night." She whispered as she cuddled up closer to me.

"Good night my love." I replied before my eyes fluttered closed.

I gently kissed my One's head and smiled when she made a cute mumble as she stirred awake from her dreams.

"Good morning." I grinned down at her.

"Morning." She grinned as she stared up at me.

"How are you feeling this morning?" I asked.

"Better than last night." She smiled as she played with the threads of my tunic absentmindedly. "And you?"

"I'm always happy when I'm around you, my One." I grinned widely causing her smile to brighten which made my heart soar.

"You are becoming a soppy romantic my love." She chuckled.

"Aye, I am, but only in your presence, my princess." I replied as I moved so that I was hovering over her, using my arms to keep my weight off of her.

"Oh really? And why do you think that you are only like this with me, my prince?" She smirked as she ran her hands along my chest.

"It could be to do with the fact that I am completely and utterly in love with you." I said causing a warm smile to appear on her face.

"I love you too, Kili."

I lowered my head and crushed my lips to her soft warm ones. Her arms snaked around my neck and shoulders as I deepened the kiss.

Knock Knock

Cassy and I broke our kiss upon hearing a knock at the door.

"Kili?" I heard my brother's voice from the other side of the door.

"What?" I asked loudly so he could hear me.

"You need to come out and get some breakfast." He said through the door.

"I'll meet you down there." I replied.

We listened to Fili's footsteps as they grew quieter.

I then looked back to Cassy who was smiling up at me. I grinned and leaned back down to kiss her again but she grinned and flipped us so that she was straddling me.

"You heard your brother, lets go and eat." She smiled.

"I did hear him but I'm choosing to ignore him and besides I'd much rather stay here with you."

"Well that sucks for you because I'm hungry so I'm going to go and get dressed then go and eat." She grinned before jumping up out of the bed.

"But Cassy..." I whined, not caring if I sounded like a child.

"Yes?" She turned to look at me as she stretched her arms above her head.

I gulped when I realised she was still only in her night shirt and when she stretched I tried not to stare as the shirt rose up revealing more of her smooth tanned thighs.

"Like what you see, my prince?" She teased as she rested her hand on her waist.

I blushed but grinned anyway.

"You know I do and in under 21 days we shall be married and I can look all I want." I grinned widely upon seeing her light blush.

"We aren't married yet and yet you look anyway." She chuckled.

"I can't resist." I told her the truth and smiled upon seeing her blush deepen.

"Thank you for letting me stay here last night, Kili." She said.

"Anytime, my love. I am always here for you." I replied as I stood up and pulled her into my embrace.

"I'll see you at breakfast." She kissed my cheek gently before moving towards the door.

I stood still, already missing her touch and her warmth.

"See you." I grinned as she closed the door behind her.

21 days left...Just 21 days until the greatest day of my life when Cassy would be my wife and I couldn't wait that long.

I truly loved her.

*Cassy's POV*

After the events of this morning I had gone back to my room to find Brielle sat on my bed and after she had spent the next half an hour questioning me on where I had been she helped me get into my training gear.

After breakfast I made my way to the training field to see the group of dwarfs I have been assessing, with the new addition of Devlin, already stood there waiting for me to announce who made it into the Kings Guard.

"Good morning." I greeted and they all greeted me back cheerfully.

"I have decided on the seven men who have passed and will be initiated into the Kings Guard." I pulled out a piece of parchment with the names on. "And those men are; Morho, Dax, Mikaelson, Harim, Kainín, Devlin and Ruik." I announced as I folded up the parchment and smiled at the men.

They were all congratulating each other and even those who didn't make it in were still being supportive.

"Thats all. There will be a meeting in a few weeks when King Fili will formally make you members of the Kings Guard so congratulations, you all deserve it. And comiserations to those who didn't make it but you will all still be welcomed to be normal guards whether that be for King Fili or Lord Dain." I explained.

They all bowed and I quickly smiled once more before I walked back inside the mountain.

I really needed a nap after all that.
