*Cassy's POV*

I was sat in silence in one of the spare rooms of the mountain the morning of Fili's Coronation. My gaze remained locked on the mysterious redhead's sleeping form as she laid on the bed. I had offered to stay with her until she woke as I thought a woman might be better sitting beside her bed instead of a scary dwarf. I chuckled to myself as I tried to imagine my comrades looking scary but I just ended up smiling, amusing myself.

The two new men, Dax and Mikealson, were given rooms in the mountain too. Dax had told me that they were going to stay for a while and I was actually looking forward to getting to know them, as long as Mikealson stops his attempts of flirting with me. Kili and Fili were getting along with them quite well, especially because they saved me but Kili was still wary around Mikealson and acted a lot more possessive and protective around me.

I sighed and closed my eyes and just when I began to relax I heard a low groan and the rustling of sheets. My purple eyes shot open to see the redhead's eyes slowly flutter open. Her eyes were green and dull, probably because of the confusion and fear that showed on her young face.

"I'm glad you're finally awake." I smiled as I sat forwards in my chair, catching her attention.

She gasped in fear and scrambled further across the bed and away from me.

"Hey, hey, hey. Calm down!" I assured her as I sat down beside her on the bed and stroked her back reasurringly. "You're safe now."

"W-where am I?" Her voice was so quiet and timid that I could only just hear her due to my elvish hearing.

"You're in a spare room inside the Lonely Mountain. You'll be safe here in Erebor." I smiled kindly at her as she nodded in understanding.

"My name is Cassandra Mandaria. Who are you?"

"B-Brielle Corinth..." She muttered.

"That's a lovely name. Do you mind if I call you Bree for short? You can call me Cassy." I told her and I saw the corners of her lips curl upwards in an almost smile.

I smiled at her in return before I grabbed a goblet of water from the table and held it out to Bree.

"Thank you, you're really kind." She smiled nervously.

"Well my fiance and I were the ones that found you. You were unconscious in the woods, we think you fell and hit your head. Do you remember what happened?" I asked her as I set the goblet back down after she took a drink.

"The orcs attacked our village. Its an hour or so away from here... I think. My cousin, Adam and I managed to run but they chased us and he stayed behind to give me a chance to run but I tripped and I don't remember anything else." She told me as tears welled up in her eyes.

"Do you know if anyone else got away?" I asked as I held her hand in comfort.

"They're all d-dead." She sobbed and hugged me. I could feel her tears soaking my shirt and I sighed as I rubbed soothing circles on her back.

"Shhh... Its okay. You're safe here." I said.

"But its not like the King would let me stay here in these chambers." Bree said and I had to admit that that could be true but I smiled.

"Well I have an idea. The soon-to-be King, Fili, happens to be my fiance's brother and one of my closest friends so I can guarantee that I could persuade him to at least give you a job here to allow you to earn your own keep and your accomodation... I don't know what job you'd be up to doing though?" I told her and she slowly pulled back from me.

"Wait you're engaged to Prince Kili? That means you're the future Princess! I am so sorry for crying on you and being a burden, your majesty." She rambled with wide eyes.

"Its okay! And call me Cassy when we're alone. I don't like formalities. Now back to the matter at hand." I replied.

"I don't mind what job! I'd love to stay and I have nowhere else to go so I'd gladly work to be allowed to stay here. I can clean, cook, sew, you name it." She replied and it have me an idea.

"I still haven't picked my personal maid yet so maybe... you could... you know... if Fili agrees to it..." I said.

"Yes please! That would be an honour!" She smiled widely and I nodded in 'yes'.

"I'll talk to him later. Until then you need to get some sleep. I'll come and find you later and you can come to the Coronation with me if you're up to it. I'm really looking forward to finally having a female friend around here." I said as I stood up and pulled the covers over her.

"Thank you Cassy. You're already a great friend." She smiled and once her eyes closed I silently left the room in search for Fili.

I walked down the halls for a few minutes until I entered the council chambers where Kili, Fili and the rest of our company were sitting around the table talking amongst each other.

"You know, for the infamous Archer Queen, you are definitely not easy to track." Dwalin said gruffly, as he always did when he saw me enter the room.

I smiled slightly, knowing exactly what he was getting at."I wasn't hiding." I answered him casually, though we both knew that wasn't quite true.

"Tell that to the maids that have been looking for you for over an hour. They keep pestering us on your whereabouts." Dwalin replied without hesitation, his arms crossed firmly over his broad chest and one of his eyebrows still raised pointedly at me. Ori awkwardly cleared his throat beside him as I returned the bald dwarf's gaze calmly.

"Clearly they were not thorough enough." I said, narrowing my eyes as Dwalin rolled his at me. I went on as soon as he opened his mouth, interrupting him before he could even utter a word. "I am not letting them put me in that thing."

"It's a dress." Bofur said.

"It's torture." I told him.

The maids had been looking for me all day to get me ready for the Coronation but they planned to put me in a dress, which I never wore.

Dwalin sighed deeply, making sure that I could hear him exhale his breath across the whole room. "Cassy, the coronation starts in only but two hours." The warrior answered me, sounding slightly annoyed that he was the one that was discussing this with me, for I could see that he clearly did not care whether I wore that dress or came wrapped in a blanket.

"You have to get dressed."

"I am dressed." I shot back, making a pointed gesture with my hand to my attire. Tight black trousers were coupled with a nice dark green tunic and a black leather jerkin. I thought that that thing was already tight enough, I wouldn't squeeze myself into a dress.

"Appropriately." Balin said with a pointed look that turned into a stern one, as I didn't move to go back to my chambers.

"It is Fili's coronation today and for the whole population of the mountain this is a day to celebrate our new king and the future that he brings the people. It is very important and everyone is putting up their best appearance to honour this day. It would only be appropriate for the future wife of Prince Kili to follow this tradition as well."

I stared at Balin for a moment as he looked back at me before I exchanged a short look with the others including Kili and Fili who were supressing their grins. I looked back at Dwalin, a grin slowly starting to spread on my face.

"The maids told you to say that, didn't they?" I chuckled as Dwalin's arm fell from his chest and he threw them up in an exasperate gesture. He rolled his eyes with ostentation.

"Mahal, lass, they are driving everyone crazy with their nagging! Would you please just wear that thing so that this mountain my have some more peace and quiet before the celebration?"

"No." Was my simple answer and Dwalin sighed again, dropping his hands as he looked at me for a moment. He seemed to be thinking of what to do next, how he could convince me but I just crossed my arms over my chest and stared right back at him. After a few moments, Dwalin just shrugged and one second later his whole demeanour had changed from a stern one into the casual one I was used to.

"I'll just tell 'em I didn't find you. They can shove their fancy dresses up their pretentious arses if you ask m." He grumbled and nodded at me as I just grinned at his vulgar statement while the other's chuckled.

"But if you're not in the throne room in two hours, I'll personally come and force you to wear a dress for a whole week." Dwalin said with an amused look.

"You can just try. But for the next two hours I'll be avoiding those maids as best I can! I'll threaten them with my bow if I have to. But I actually came here with a purpose and I need to talk to our dear soon-to-be-King." I said as I smiled at Fili who immediately stood up and motioned for me to follow him from the room. I sent Kili a smile before I followed his brother into the hall.

"What's up Cassy?" He asked.

"You know the unconscious girl we found in the woods?" I asked. He nodded.

"Well she's finally awake. Her name is Brielle Cornith and it turns out those orcs attacked and killed everyone in her village but she managed to run but fell and was knocked out. The thing I wanted to ask you was if she could stay here in the mountain as she has nowhere else to go? She is willing to earn her place and I think that I would like her to be my personal maid which she has agreed to if you deem it okay." I explained and Fili gently squeezed my shoulder with a smile.

"Of course she can. Besides its about time you got a female friend." He said jokingly.

"Thank you." I said and hugged him quickly when I heard voices from down the hall.

"M'lady!" A maid shouted at me gaining my attention causing me to groan.

"Do you think its too late for me to run?" I asked Fili who was laughing at my misfortune.

"I think its too late now. Good luck with the dress Cassy." He grinned before he left me to be dragged off by the three older maids.

I mentally cursed my misfortune and reluctantly followed them.
