*Cassy's POV*

I stared at the mystery red headed girl who still lay unconscious on the ground with interest. There was something about her that intrigued me but I tried not to ponder on that thought as my thoughts switched to the reason she was unconscious in a dark forest at night.

"What could have happened to her?" I whispered.

"It looks as though she fell and hit her head." Kili said as he knelt down beside me.

"We need to get help for her, she may have a serious head injury." I said as I turned to look at my beloved. "Kili, go to the mountain and get some help. I shall remain here with her."

Immediately Kili's whole demeanour became protective and possessive as his eyes darkened. "If you think I'm going to leave you in the middle of a dark forest with an unconscious girl then you are clearly mistaken."

"Kili, she needs help!" I told him but his expression never changed so I sighed as I rested my hand on his shoulder. "What if it was me on the floor unconscious and that girl in my position? Would you still not go and get help?"

He sighed defeatedly as his face softened. "I would do anything to keep you safe." He promised.

"And I would do the same for you." I smiled as I placed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "Now please go and get help."

He nodded and handed me his sword, "Just in case you need it." He said before he took off running back towards the mountain.

I waited in silence as I held Kili's sword in my hand. My gaze drifted continuously around, scanning my surroundings for any sign of danger.

My gaze remained transfixed on a certain opening in the trees a yard or so away from where I was crouched on the grassy floor. It was like I could feel something watching me and it made my stomach churn uneasily.

As soon as I forced my gaze back down to the injured girl the distinct sound of a twig snapping made me whip around to see what had caused it.

I gasped in surprise as an orc ran towards me as he weilded an axe. I jumped to my feet with ease and in one swift movement I ducked his swing and sliced open his stomach with Kili's sword.

As soon as his body crashed to the floor a battle cry was heard from behind me and I turned in time to block another orc as he swung his sword towards me. I managed to kick him backwards as I deflected another orc's swing but I was too slow to stop a much larger orc from throwing me backwards into a nearby tree.

I felt my head smash against the solid surface of the tree before my vision began to blur. I looked up through my hazy vision and my breath caught in my throat upon seeing one of the orcs holding his axe above his head, preparing to bring it down on my head.

Memories of the battle flashed through my mind. The orc ready to kill me, my brother's yells as he took the blow for me, me killing the orc in pure anger and my desperate sobs as I held my dying twin in my arms.

Those memories made me freeze in fright as I shook in terror. Just as I waited for the pain of the axe I looked up as a dark figure burst out of the trees and easily decapitated the orc. Another figure emerged from the trees and joined his friend in fighting the numerous orcs.

I managed to pull myself together and after a moment I jumped to my feet and rejoined the fight. Anger and the grief of my brother's death fueled my rage as I quickly killed orc after orc, not even stopping until the last orc fell to the ground his blood spilling onto the grass.

"Well... you can definitely fight."

I turned at the sound of a deep voice and looked at the two figures that had saved me from my terrible fate.

The one that had spoken was a few inches taller than me and looked as though he was part elf, dwarf and man. His dark blonde hair was spiked and a bit of stubble covered his jaw. His bright blue eyes were piercing through me in the dark and he wore a leather jacket with an upturned collar, black pants and dark brown boots. Two swords were in their sheaths on his back and he had a few daggers on his belt.

The other had a darker aura about him and he held his large axe over his shoulder as he casually began openly checking me out causing me to raise my eyebrows at him. He had shaggy black hair and striking blue eyes. He was quite tall and wiry but he looked very strong. He has scars on his face and arms so I could easily tell that he was a warrior of some description. He wore a leather jacket like the first man and a blue shirt, black pants and boots. He also carried a mace and another axe along with some throwing knives.

"Hello beautiful." The second one said with a grin. "I'm Mikaelson."

"And I'm Dax." The first one said as he rolled his eyes at his friend's attempts to flirt with me but sent me a kind smile anyway.

"I'm Cassandra Mandaria." I told them with a grateful smile.

"The Archer Queen?" Mikaelson asked in awe.

"Yes. I'm the Archer Queen." I replied, trying not to laugh at their shocked expressions.

"Its an honour to finally meet you. Are you alright?" Dax asked me before he moved to inspect the unconscious red headed girl on the floor.

"Yeah I'm fine." I said as I rubbed the small cut on my head gingerly before hissing slightly in pain.

Before I could blink Mikaelson had appeared by my side and was looking at the cut with a frown. "You're hurt." He stated.

"It's nothing. I've endured a lot worse." I told him before I looked to my left to see Kili, Fili, Carter, Dastan, Dwalin and Gloin appear with a few other guards.

Kili looked at the dead orcs with wide eyes before he looked straight at me, his body relaxing immediately upon seeing that I was fine. I smiled at hurried over to him and he immediately pulled me into his protective embrace.

"Are you okay, my love?" He asked worriedly as he pulled back slightly to look into my eyes.

"I am fine, Kili. These guys saved me." I said as I smiled at Dax and Mikaelson.

Kili looked at them critically for a few moments before he smiled at them too, although he still held me protectively against him. "Thank you for saving Cassy. You have no idea how much she means to me." He said genuinely grateful.

"It is an honour to have helped the Archer Queen. She is an inspiration to all." Dax smiled as he bowed, Mikaelson doing the same.

"I am Dax and this is Mikaelson." Dax said as he shook Fili's hand as Fili introduced himself and the others.

"So you're Fili? The soon-to-be King Under the Mountain?" Mikaelson asked.

"Indeed I am. And as a thank you for saving my soon-to-be sister-in-law, I would like to invite you to stay in the mountain with us for some time." Fili offered with a kind smile.

"We'd be honoured." Dax and Mikaelson replied in unison as they bowed.

Fili quickly gave orders for the guards to carry the unconscious girl to the mountain as the rest of us followed behind them.

I couldn't help but continue to wonder who this girl was and how she got to be in the middle of a forest at night. And now there were two more newcomers to deal with... Durin help me!
