I slowly opened my eyes and looked around the room that I was in. The room had cream coloured walls and beautiful Elven tapestries on the wall. The wall that was opposite my bed was made entirely out of glass and led out on to a small balcony. I was laid on a double bed that had pure silk cream bed sheets that had silver embroidered into them and had pillows to match. This was my room. Well, the room that Elrond gave to me for whenever I turn up in Rivendell, which was quite a lot during my travels.

I carefully sat up in my bed but regretted it slightly when I felt a slight pain where my wound was. I rolled up the bottom of my dirty shirt and saw that instead of an open wound there was just a pale scar left in its place. I looked towards the door when I heard it open and smiled when Lord Elrond walked in.

"Hello Cassandra." He said.

"Hi Elrond." I replied smiling at him.

"You were brought here about an hour ago. I've healed your wound so you can get up if you'd like but it may still be quite sore. Your friends are currently being fed so you may go and join them when your ready." Said Lord Elrond.

"Thank you, Elrond. It's good to see you again." I replied.

"And you." He said before he bowed his head and left the room.

I pulled back the bed sheets before slowly standing up, I shivered slightly as my bare feet came in contact with the cold stone floor. I walked over to the full length mirror and looked at my reflection. My hair was all knotted, there was smudges of dirt and blood on my face and on my arms, my breaches were covered in mud and my shirt was torn and covered in blood. Wow! I look horrible! I removed my fingerless leather gloves, my blood soaked shirt and my breaches before I left them on the chair to be cleaned. I walked into the bathroom and ran myself a bath. After I was clean I wrapped a towel around me and walked out of the bathroom. I brushed the knots out of my now clean hair and let it to fall down my back in its natural curls.

I looked at the chair and saw that my dirty clothes had been taken and there was now a pile of clean clothes on the chair instead. I picked up the clothes and quickly changed into them. I looked at myself in the mirror again and admired the clothing. I was wearing a baggy, light green Elven shirt with dark green detailing on it, I was also wearing a pair of thick black breeches and my leather riding boots that had silver buckles on them.

Once I was ready I left the room and walked down the corridor. I admired the tapestries and the ivory covered walls as I walked down the corridor and down the first flight of stairs. I walked into one of the rooms and smiled at the sight of my friends. Gandalf and Thorin were sat at another table with Lord Elrond. The other dwarfs were sat around a table that had bowls of salad and nuts on it. They were all moaning about how the was no meat and that they didn't like green food. Dwalin was even lifting the salad out of the bowl and checking for any hidden meat. I walked down the steps that led into the room and the first to notice me was Bilbo.

"Cassandra! You're up!" He said excitedly which caused the others to all turn and looking at me. Kili who was sat beside Bilbo suddenly jumped up and ran over to me. Kili wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into a tight hug. I laughed and wrapped my arms around his shoulders hugging him back just as tight.

"Thank Durin your okay!" He whispered in my ear. I shivered slightly when his warm breath tickled my neck.

"I'm fine. Don't worry." I replied, Kili still hugging me.

"I was so worried." He said as we broke the hug. Kili still kept his hands resting on my hips whilst I rested my hands on his shoulders.

"To be honest I felt much more comfortable when you carried me than when the Elf did." I said smiling.

"Can you promise me something?" Asked Kili smiling.

"That depends. What is it?" I said.

"Promise me that you'll never hurt yourself when trying to save my life ever again." He said.

"Nope. I can't promise that." I said before reaching up and kissing him on his cheek which made him blush slightly. "Now come on, I'm hungry."

I pulled Kili towards the table where the others were before sitting down in the spare seat that Fili had pulled up for me.

"It's good to see that you're alright, Cassandra." Said Balin.

"Yeah, I feel much better but I'll probably have the scar for a long time. Not that it bothers me, I mean I've got over five other scars all over me from when I've been hit with arrows in the past." I replied as I began to eat my salad.

"How did you get the others?" Asked Dori.

"Well, I got the first one from when my village was attacked by orcs, I was sixteen at the time. My mother, father, brother and I all tried to fight the orcs away. My mother was fighting an orc and was stabbed. I tried to run over to her but I was shot in my leg by another orc. My twin brother, Caspian, ran over to me and slung me over his shoulder before running with me into the woods away from the fight. My father ran into the forest with us, he only came away from the fight with us to make sure that we were safe. And the three of us stood and watched as our village was burnt down by the orcs." I said.

"I never knew that your mother was killed by orcs." Said Ori.

"Yeah that's not the end of it." I said. "Afterwards my father took Caspian and I to Rivendell to my mothers sister, Nanallia, who was also an Elf like my mother. Lord Elrond healed me and once I was better we left Rivendell. We ran into more Orcs and my father, being grief stricken by my mother's death, wanted revenge. He charged at the group of twenty or so orcs by himself and was beheaded within minutes." I paused as I held back the tears as the memories came back to me. "My brother had pulled me down to hide in some bushes with him and we waited for the orcs to go before we began to travel back to Rivendell."

"What happened after that?" Asked Bofur leaning forward in his chair.

"Caspian and I stayed in Rivendell for a while with our aunt, Nanallia. She raised us for a few years and then Caspian decided that he wanted to travel for a while so he did. He wrote to me often and visited whenever he came near Rivendell. I was trained here by the Elves in archery and sword fighting before I also began to travel. I travelled around for a few years until I came across Lord Dain and a few other dwarfs who had been tied up by a group of orcs. I killed the orcs and untied Lord Dain who asked if I would travel with them, so I agreed. I stayed with Lord Dain and his company for a while until we reached the Iron Hills. He asked if I would stay in the Iron Hills with him and the other dwarfs and eventually I became his bodyguard. Long story short, I got shot a few times saving his life." I replied smiling.

"What about your brother? When was the last time you saw him?" Asked Fili.

"I haven't heard from him for about two years." I said.

"Two years?" Asked Kili.

"Yep. I've tried to write to him but I've haven't gotten a reply." I said sadly.

"I'm sorry." Said Balin.

"There's no need to be sorry. I know that he's out there somewhere probably getting mixed up in some mischief." I replied smiling.

"You never know, you could run into him one day soon." Said Oin.

"I hope so." I said.

"What about your aunt? You said she lived in Rivendell." Said Kili.

"She still does. She lives here in Elrond's house." I said smiling.

"Really?" Asked Fili.

"Yeah. She'll probably be in the gardens, she spends most of her time there." I said.

"Will you visit her before we leave?" Asked Bilbo.

"Yeah I might go and find her now so you can meet her." I replied.

"There's no need. I'm right here." Said a female voice. My head shot up and I saw my aunt Nanallia walking over to the table smiling at me. She had short dark brown hair, brown eyes, pale skin and like the other Elves her pointed Elf ears were poking out slightly through her hair.

"Aunt Nanallia!" I shouted excitedly before I jumped up from my seat and ran over to her before I hugged her.

"Cassy! I feel like I haven't seen you in ages!" Said Nanallia as I released her from the hug.

"I know! I missed you, Nanallia." I replied.

"I missed you too. Who're your friends?" Asked Nanallia gesturing to the table of dwarfs.

"Let me introduce you. This is Dwalin, Balin, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Bilbo, Nori, Dori, Ori, Fili, Kili and that's Gandalf and Thorin Oakenshield that are over there with Elrond." I said as I indicated to each of my friends.

"It's nice to meet you all." Said Nanallia as she sat down in a spare seat whilst I sat back down next to Fili and Kili.

"What have you been up to?" I asked.

"The usual." She replied.

"What's the usual?" Asked Balin.

"Oh I'm an Elven healer." Said Nanallia.

"Impressive." Said Ori.

"Thank you. So what have you been up to, Cassy?" She asked me.

"Well since the last time I saw you I've been travelling around and stayed in the Iron Hills for two years. And now I'm travelling with these guys." I replied gesturing to the others.

"And where are you going?" Asked Nanallia.

"Sorry but we're sworn to secrecy." I said.

"Ah okay." She replied smiling at me.

We all carried on talking for a while longer about Nanallia, myself and each of the dwarfs' lives before we met each other until it started to get dark. We said goodbye to Nanallia who had to go to her room. I also said goodnight to the others before I went to my own room to get some sleep. Thorin had told us that we'd be leaving at dawn tomorrow. After I got ready for bed I climbed into my bed and as soon as my head hit my pillow I immediately fell asleep.
