*Cassy's POV*

I growled in frustration as I kicked the door of my cell.

"Cassy, just give up. You've been trying that for the past hour!" Said Caspian from the cell next to mine.

"I can't just sit here and do nothing." I said. For the past hour I had been trying to pick the lock of my cell but to avail. Caspian kept trying to make me sit down but I just started pacing the length of my cell instead.

"There must be a way out of here!" I said frustrated.

"Just accept that we won't get out of here like that." Said Caspian.

"Then how?" I asked as I stopped pacing and instead turned to face him with my eyebrows raised.

"Just give it time! Everything will be fine!" Said Caspian.

"We have to get to the mountain by Durin's Day, we don't have time to sit around and wait!" I said. "We have just under a week to reach the mountain."

"We have to have faith, sister." Said Caspian. He always was the patient one out of the two of us.

I sighed and leant against the wall of my cell. My head shot up when the door to the dungeon opened and Legolas walked in with another elf who was carrying a tray of food and water.

"Here is some food and drink for the two of you." Said Legolas.

"Thanks but no thanks." I said refusing the tray that the elf offered to me as I sent Legolas a glare.

"You will starve. You need to eat." Said Legolas. "My father has ordered it."

"Has he? Well, you can tell your King that I don't care about what he thinks. And I will not take anything that you offer me no matter how starving I am!" I said angrily.

"Very well. What about you? Do you share her views?" Legolas asked Caspian.

"Yes I do. We will not take anything that you give us!" Said Caspian as he sent Legolas a glare.

"Whatever you say. You will soon be begging for our food and water." Replied Legolas.

"We'll see about that." I said.

Legolas smirked before he turned and left the room closely followed by the other elf.

"I'm really starting to dislike that elf." I said.

"I know just what you mean." Said Caspian.

"I hope the others are okay." I sighed before I sat down on the floor of my cell.

"I'm sure they're fine." Replied Caspian.

I couldn't stop thinking about the others. I was so worried about all of them.

I was concerned about Thorin; it must be hard for him being around these elves after what happened all those years ago. I had no idea how he of all people was being treated.

I kept worrying about poor Bilbo; none of us knew where he was and I really hoped he wasn't still in the forest with those spiders. He was the one with the least fighting experience out of all of us and I was scared for him.

I was constantly worrying about Fili and Kili. Fili has become like a second brother to me and I'm concerned about how he is just like how I'd feel if Caspian had been separated from me. And out of everyone I can't stop thinking about whether Kili is alright. I tried not to think of the others too much and instead started to think of an escape plan but I had no luck in coming up with anything.

And to top it all off my head was hurting so much. The deep gash on my right temple was still bleeding and was giving me such a painful headache. Caspian must've realised something was wrong because he moved over to the bars separating our cells as he looked at me worriedly.

"Cassy?" He said.

"Mmm."

"Are you okay? The whole right side of your face is still covered in blood." He said.

"I'm fine. I've just got a headache." I replied.

"I think its a little bit worse than a headache." He said.

"Even if it was serious there's nothing we can do whilst we're locked in here." I said.

"I guess." Mumbled Caspian. "If you feel worse you need to tell me."

"Don't worry brother, I will." I said as I sent him a gentle smile.

"At least try and stop the bleeding." He said as he tore a piece of his shirt and handed it to me through the bars of the cell.

I smiled at him gratefully as I used the piece of cloth to wipe most of the blood from my face before I pressed it and held it against the gash.

I heard the dungeon door opening again. I groaned quietly, I really couldn't be bothered with Legolas right now. I raised my head expecting to see Legolas but instead there was a red-headed she-elf stood there. She looked at Caspian and I curiously before asking something that I wasn't expecting.

"What is your mother's name?"

I shared a confused look with Caspian before he said, "Alena Mandaria."

"Alena... her name means light." Said the she-elf.

"The elvish translation is Caladwen." I added.

"Yes I know her." She said.

"What?! You knew our mother?" I asked as I stood up.

"Yes. When I saw you I thought I recognised you and only ten minutes ago I realised how I recognised you. You look just like Alena." She said. "I'm Tauriel by the way."

"I'm Cassandra Mandaria or Tirananniel as I'm known in elvish." I said.

"Your name suits you." Tauriel said smiling at me.

"How so?" I asked.

"It means brave or strong." She said before she turned to Caspian.

"I'm Caspian. Cassy's twin brother." He said.

"Caranoron, meaning red fire. You two seem to take after your mother." Tauriel said smiling at us.

"How did you know her?" I asked as I walked closer to the cell door.

"My mother was her best friend. Alena was like an aunt to me, but then she met your father and as you know dwarfs aren't really welcome here so she followed him to Rivendell where her sister, Nanallia, lived. They got married and the last thing I heard from her was that she had two children." Said Tauriel. I was trying to decide whether to trust her or not but I couldn't help but listen to the stories about my mother.

"What happened?" She asked as she pointed to my gash on my head.

"The spiders happened." I said.

"It needs looking at. I'll be right back." Said Tauriel.

I didn't even have time to object before Tauriel hurried out of the room. I shared a confused look with Caspian and minute later Tauriel came hurrying back into the room carrying a bowl of water, a vial of clear liquid and a cloth.

I stepped back from the cell door as Tauriel unlocked it before moving inside.

"Sit down." She said as she closed the door to my cell behind her.

I glanced at Caspian who nodded for me to do as she said. I sat down on the ground as Tauriel knelt down beside me. I winced when she put the wet cloth against the gash. It only took a minute to clean the wound and the bleeding had finally stopped.

"Drink this. It'll stop it from getting infected." She said as she handed me the vile of clear liquid.

I hesitantly drank the liquid and handed her the empty vial.

"Thank you." I said.

"You're welcome." She said as she stood up and left my cell, locking the door behind her.

Once she was gone I looked at Caspian.

"Do you think we can trust her?" I asked.

"Who else are we supposed to trust in this place?" He replied. I nodded before I laid down on the floor.

"I might as well try to sleep since we're probably going to be in here a while." I said as I closed my eyes. "Wake me up if anything happens."

"I will." He said.

I tried my best to get comfy on the cold stone floor but after a while I finally managed to fall asleep.
