Here's Chapter 18! I hope you like it.

*Bilbo's POV*

"Bilbo!" I could only just hear Cassy's voice shouting for me but I couldn't tell which direction it was coming from. I waited to hear her shout again but to my horror all I could hear was silence.

I knew that I needed to find the others as soon as possible, but I didn't know which direction to walk in. I had no idea where I was and if I was honest, I dreaded to move even further into this forest, afraid to get lost even more. But I knew that I needed to find the others and I couldn't risk waiting until morning. I had a horrible feeling that they had run into trouble, or else I might still be hearing their calls. And if I was right and they had run into trouble, I was their only hope. Now all I had to do was decide which direction to start walking in. I sighed deeply and set off in the direction that I thought the voices had come from.

After walking for a while I began to lose hope when suddenly I tripped on something. I jumped up and searched for what I had tripped over. I gasped when I saw what it was, a giant spider leg. I cringed at the thought of the spider that that one leg belonged to.

My eyes widened when I saw a familiar looking dagger on the floor, I remembered that it belonged to Fili. I picked it up and fastened it to my belt when I realised that these spiders must've attacked my friends.

I looked around the clearing but all I found was dead spiders and tracks that led away from the clearing. I gulped nervously but then I noticed other tracks, someone must've escaped. I felt my spirits rise and I quickly decided to follow the tracks leading away from the clearing.

After I walked for a minute I heard a horrible rustling noise coming from in front of me. I shakily unsheathed my sword and to my horror a monstrous spider appeared and began moving towards me. I began stumbling backwards and suddenly I rammed my sword into the spider's head with a furious cry. It shrieked loudly and I could've sworn it sounded as though it had said "it stings!" before it collapsed to the ground.

I raised my sword in front on my face and stared at the blade. "Sting." I mumbled to myself. "Not a bad name." I smiled to myself and decided to name my sword sting. Suddenly another rusting sound came from behind me and when I turned around I was knocked to the floor by another spider causing me to drop Sting.

I stared at the spider through wide eyes and just when it was about to bite me, a familiar black feathered arrow pierced the spider directly between the eyes causing it to die immediately. I turned and stared at the familiar archer. I couldn't stop smiling in relief as I looked at Cassy. She stood aiming another arrow at the already dead beast, probably wary about it still being alive. She walked towards me and lowered her black elven bow and, to my surprise, she pulled me to my feet and gave me a hug.

"I'm so glad you're alright, Bilbo." She said.

"Where are the others?" I asked as she released me from the hug.

"I don't know." She said before she frowned. "Where did you get that?" She said pointing to Fili's dagger that was attached to my belt.

"I found it on the ground back in the clearing." I said as I handed it to her.

"They must've been taken by the spiders." She said.

*Cassy's POV*

I groaned slightly when I opened my eyes, the first rays of sunlight finding there way through the tree tops. My eyes widened slightly and I quickly stumbled to my feet, gripping my bow tightly. I still felt slightly dizzy but I didn't care. Where was Kili? And the others? I felt myself become more worried as I remembered that Kili said he'd come back and yet he was still gone.

I tightened my cloak and began following the tracks that I guessed belonged to Kili. I walked for a few seconds before I heard a loud screeching sound of one of those spiders. Immediately, I began sprinting towards the noise and I ended up seeing a spider knock Bilbo to the floor. Out of instinct I notched an arrow on to my bow and fired it at the spider hitting it dead on. I notched another arrow and warily aimed it at the dead spider just in case it wasn't dead.

I smiled at Bilbo and walked over to him before I pulled him to his feet and quickly hugged him.

"I'm so glad you're alright, Bilbo." I said before I released him from the hug.

"Where are the others?" He asked.

"I don't know." I said looking down but something shiny caught my eye. Fili's dagger, why did Bilbo have it? I wondered as I frowned. "Where did you get that?" I said pointing to Fili's dagger that was attached to Bilbo's belt.

"I found it on the ground back in the clearing." He said as he handed Fili's dagger to me.

"They must've been taken by the spiders." I said as I held Fili's dagger in my hand.

"Taken?" Bilbo asked worriedly.

"The spiders inject their victim with venom, effectively knocking them out, so they can wrap them in their silk and hang them from their webs to eat later." I said.

"What do we do?" He asked wide eyed.

"Show me where you found Fili's dagger and I might be able to track them down." I said as I motioned for Bilbo to lead the way.

"Yes, yes of course! This way." He said before he walked back the way he came.

As we walked I kept an eye out for anymore spider's whilst Bilbo asked me more questions about what happened.

"How did you get away?" He asked.

"I was the first to get bitten. I was on the verge of passing out but Kili carried me away from the fight and hid me before he went back to help the others. Obviously the spiders over-powered them." I said.

"So if it wasn't for Kili, you would've been taken as well?" Said Bilbo as he sent me a knowing look.

"It would appear so." I didn't really want to go into detail about it, I was already worried about the others and talking about it wasn't making it much better.

"Here's where I found the dagger." Said Bilbo as we entered a clearing. It was the same clearing where we were attacked.

"Look around, see if you can spot any tracks leading away." I said as I started looking around.

I crouched down when I spotted something amongst the grass... a black stone covered with ruin marks. It was Kili's. I picked it up and held it in my hand. I looked back at the ground and saw that there was some distinct tracks that looked as though someone had been dragged along the ground. I pocketed the stone in the pocket of my breeches before I motioned for Bilbo to follow me.

"The tracks lead this way." I said.

I led Bilbo further into the forest and before long we came across hundreds of thick, white cobwebs that covered the trees. Spiders were crawling along the cobwebs and towards what looked like fourteen people wrapped in cobwebs hanging from the trees.

"Up there." I whispered to Bilbo as I pointed out where the rest of our company was.

"What do we do?" He asked.

"You need to hide. I'll distract the spiders and you free the others. I'll catch up with you later. I promise." I said.

"But-" He started to say but I cut him off.

"There's no time to argue, Bilbo. Look." I said as I pointed to the three spiders that were currently about to eat the largest of the company, who I guessed was Bombur.

"Be careful." Bilbo said, finally realising that my plan was the only hope we had.

"When am I not?" I replied jokingly before I ran out from behind the tree, whilst simultaneously firing an arrow at one of the spiders, killing it.

"Oi!" I yelled. "I'm a lot tastier than him! Come and get me!"

The spiders all screeched and immediately began chasing me. I sent one last look towards Bilbo before I sprinted away from Bilbo and the others with the spiders hot on my heels.
