Awakening
I wake up in the middle of a room that isn't quite familiar to me. I try to look around, though it feels like it's good for nothing. Windows, that are not too far from where my bed's standing, are shielded by curtains of seemingly good quality. Clearly, whoever has brought me to this place is definitely not at loss with money.
I get out of my bed and notice that a long, soft cloth of a dark red color covers my body from my shoulders all the way down to my ankles. It's cut in an almost oriental way, nothing you would commonly see in this city otherwise.
While I try my best to not pay much attention to that, I slowly get out of the bed and walk up towards the window. I have no idea what time it is, but considering the fact that my room is rather dark, I don't assume it's more than 3 am.
When I finally walk up to the window, I try to reach for the curtain, but for some reason, it feels as if something was trying to stop me. At first it's more like a weak force, trying to bring me back to bed, but the closer I try to get my hand to the curtain, the more difficult it gets to even reach it with one finger. I don't give up, though. Whatever is trying to stop me, it only assures me that behind that window, there's something I need to see. I probably shouldn't, but my curiosity is like that of a small child; undying, whatever it costs.
Finally, I take the velvet cloth the curtains are made of between my index finger and my middle finger, and pull with full force. Everything happens so quickly that all I get to notice within those few seconds is a voice from behind of my back saying "Stop it.", and a view of Asra and Julian in the middle of an unfamiliar garden, reaching out to each other. They're laughing and making jokes together, and it almost seems like at one point, they even try to go for a kiss; but before that happens, I snap out and wake up where I actually fell asleep last night. It was a dream, then, but a rather random one!
Again, I sit up and look around to actually make sure that I know where I woke up this time. And I do indeed. Though I can hardly remember more than that, I do know for sure that last night, me and Julian had to run off to Mazelinka's place again. He truly gets into fights way too easily when he gets drunk, but the buffed guy that was chasing us the entire evening yesterday surely didn't give up so easily! I wouldn't be surprised if I found him behind Mazelinka's doors, sitting impatiently while waiting to see Julian's face once more, just to make it more colorful with his fists.
Instead of worrying about that, I look at the right side of the bed, but that sight is followed by a disappointment. I fell asleep curled up next to Julian, and as if yesterday's disappointment wasn't enough considering that bastard always mentions how he wishes for us to have time for "more" while not actually doing anything when we get the chance, he even dares to leave the bed this early in the morning!
I get up and put on yesterday's clothes. It's a simple purple dress. Indeed, purple is one of my favorite colors, its mysteriousness feels just perfect on me.
I walk out of the room and then run down the stairs, expecting to at least see Mazelinka in the kitchen, waiting for me with an explanation, but instead, there is but emptiness awaiting me down there. Almost as if those two went somewhere together...
The strange dream followed by this gives me a truly bad feeling. I don't know whether I should be worried or if it's better to just stay inside, perhaps even cook something, patiently awaiting their return with a little surprise in the shape of a breakfast. But no, that would not be me if I didn't try to mindlessly find them and get into a trouble while I'm at it.
And that's also exactly what I do; I run out of the house and do not stop until I get into the city. The streets are full of people whispering words I cannot understand, but it's not like I try, anyway. I can't find those two anywhere, though.
I decide to aim for my shop instead. Though I know for sure that I won't find Julian and Mazelinka there, I at least hope Asra's gonna be there, waiting for me. After all, there is a certain... personal question I'd like to ask him.
But, once again, I'm not welcomed by anyone. I run in, leaving the doors open behind my back, and try to look around all over the shop, but... nothing. No one's there.
This entire situation gets chills run down my spine. I feel absolutely helpless at this point. I do, for a second, have the thought of finding Nadia, but would she even have the time to help me?
All of a sudden, my name echoes from behind of my back and tears all my thoughts apart, making me focus entirely on the familiarity of that voice. It's a soft but manly one, the one I love the most.
"Fayeth", he says once again, letting my name escape his attractive lips as if it was the sweetest word in the entire world.
I do not turn around, though. I know very well who it is, but await his actions rather patiently instead of acting myself. He decides to walk up to me after a while of silence filling the entire room, closing the doors behind him to make sure nothing will disturb us.
"What is it that you've planned this time, Julian? You know that we're going to be very busy today", I say biting my lip. Excitement fills up my entire body as he runs his fingers through my dark red hair that barely reach below my shoulders. I still refuse to look at him, though. He owes me answers.
"My, my... Fayeth, are you trying to punish me again? Punish me by not letting me see your breath taking eyes? For sure, I do deserve it. Leaving you alone in that bed was rather... unfair of me, might I say. But necessary."
Necessary, that word definitely catches me by surprise. What could have possibly happened? It's not often he decides to not let me help him with issues that don't involve him per se, and he doesn't sound hurt, nor does he sound as if he was in trouble. His voice is in fact very calm. So what could possibly be going on?
"It's about Asra, you see. It doesn't happen every day that you find his little familiar trying to wake you up... and it's even less often that you don't find him in his very own shop afterwards."
His words don't clarify what's going on, but I do get more and more worried with every single word he says.
"Go on", I whisper, trying to hold back panic.
He grabs my shoulders and slowly turns me around, trying to make me look directly on him. I submit, leaving my focus on his eye filled with worry. That is what truly makes me nervous. He always tries to keep everything under control, but this time, it seems like he's barely managing.
"He disappeared, Fayeth. Don't you get it? "
