Chapter 5- She's Not The Same
Chapter 5- She's Not The Same
Fuego POV
"Come on! 50 more!" Revenge shouts at the rest of Camp who is doing push ups. I finished my workout already- all the Soldiers did. The campers aren't exactly thrilled. You see since we displayed our awesomeness at that strange monster attack last week we took over running activities.
Omega and Alpha run Sword-fighting. Arrow, Maiden and Huntress took over Archery. Warrior and Slayer do spear fighting. Forge and I work in the forges. Healer with the Apollo campers. The rest help here and there. Mostly with workouts like now.
We train constantly. I mean war is coming. I've fought in a lot of wars. I wasn't thrilled about coming back to earth to be honest. Sure it's my home planet and all but it is where I died the first time. I don't really want fate to repeat itself.
Knowing it's going to be a while I head toward Bunker 9. According to what Nyssa told me they keep it clean but never touch anything. I soon reach Bunker 9 and take a breath before heading inside. I turn on the light.
Wow. Nothing really has changed. The Argo II stands with all it's glory. Festus as the figure head. He don't move in greeting. Needs a tune up. I wander for a bit before heading up on the ship.
I stand and the controls and smile as I hold the Wii remote in my hand. They don't even make these things anymore... The Archimedes Sphere sits right where I left it. I pick it up cautiously, afraid that it might break. I hold it in my hands as I walk up to Festus and place a hand on him.
"Hey buddy," I say. To my surprise I hear clicks and whirs in return. It's slow making it hard to understand him.
"Don't worry dude. I'll find my tool belt and fix you right up," I say with a smile before heading below deck. I head toward my old room. Just like I left it. My bed disheveled and piles of scrap metal here and there. I spot my tool belt over on a hook. I grab it and put it on. It clashes with my all black outfit and cloak but I'm not an Aphrodite kid so who cares? I turn to walk back to Festus when something on my old work table catches my eye.
I smile as I look down at the old blueprints. I don't need those anymore.
"What are those?" A soft voice asks beside me as the smell of cinnamon fills the room.
"Hey Healer," I greet.
"What are they?" She repeats.
"They were going to be updates to the ship. I was going to use them to find you after the war. But it's obvious I died."
"You were really going to come and find me?" She questions. I turn to face her and pull down her hood as I do. I pull her close and stare into her dark almond eyes.
"Caly? I never told you before but, after you kissed me and I left I swore on the Styx I would come back for you."
"You idiot," She says slapping me in the back of the head. I smile and pull her in for a kiss. When we pull away she smiles.
"Come on Fuego. Don't we have a dragon head to fix?" She turns around her carmel hair in braid swishes behind her. I smile and follow her back upstairs.
Annabeth POV
I notice Omega walking away from the group as the last of the Camp finishes our grueling afternoon workout. I try to catching up to him as he walks back toward his cabin muttering about taking a nap.
"Omega!" I yell. He turns around clearing annoyed about not being able to take his afternoon nap.
"Yeah?"
"Can we talk?" He pauses before nodding. "The woods?" He doesn't reply and instead changes direction and heads toward Zeus's Fist. Neither of us speak and the silence is a bit awkward. When we get there he sits on the ground and waits for me to speak. I sit not far away and I open and close my mouth trying to figure out exactly how to put my question. Finally I speak.
"Have I ever met you before? You seem sort of familiar..." I trail off.
"No. I think I would remember you," He answers coldly. Making me think once again I know him. I wish I could see his eyes. His hood covers all but he mouth which is currently pressed into a thin line.
"I have a question for you Lady Annabeth," He says suddenly. He says Lady not as in insult but as if the word disgusts him. I ignore it. The fact I can finally speak with him is more important.
"Which is?"
"If there is an immortal counselor or god for each cabin. Why not Zeus's or Poseidon's children. To my knowledge they're were some during the war which lead to you becoming a goddess." I pause the question brings up unwanted feelings. I also wonder how he knows all of this but, I guess being Chaos's Apprentice he has access to information.
"They're were counselors..." I say slowly. "Jason... Was the counselor but he and his sister Thalia were ex-ex-executed about 900 years ago for being to powerful," I say holding back tears. "As for Percy," A few stray tears escape and I look up at the sky instead of at Omega.
"Percy," I continue after a moment. "His parents were murdered. We assume by one of Gaea's minions. He came to Olympus and walked in on me
Becoming a goddess. But they refused to make him a god because he could over throw them. He had declined god hood for me and when it was my turn I accepted it in a heart beat. He left then. We searched and searched he seemed to disappear. According to Hades he isn't dead. He may not be on the planet anymore..." I trail off and glance at him. It doesn't seem that he has moved. After a moment he speaks.
"I doubt that. If it's been that long he is most likely dead. Hades may be keeping it from you on request from your mother who may wish to spare your feelings." I nod slowly realizing that would make sense.
"I should get back." I say. He nods and I stand and begin walking back toward camp. I pass through some trees when I hear voices. I hide behind a tree and look back to see Huntress or Zoë talking to Omega. She grabs his hand and he pulls him in for a kiss. I quickly turn away and head back running. I'm filled with an emotion. What it is I'm not exactly sure. Jealously? Disgust? I shake it off and run faster.
Omega POV
Sure I feel bad about what I said to Annabeth. But it needed to be said. Sure I obviously knew what happened. But it needed to come out of her mouth. But she has changed. She's not the same. She's not the girl I cared for.
Honestly I don't care anymore. I don't need her. I have my Zoë my Huntress.
Those are thoughts going through my head as I pull her close and kiss her. As we pull apart as cheesy as it sounds I tell her I love her. She smiles and pecks me on the lips.
"So when can we tell them?" She asks staring down at her ring finger where the ring I gave her is currently invisible. I had proposed the day we got here. We snuck out late to talk. I don't exactly want to be here. Too many memories. She instantly makes me feel better so I finally got on one knee and have her the ring I had been holding on to for the past month. The only ones who know are Forge, Feugo (because they made it) and Beauty because she's the daughter of Aphrodite.
"Soon. I first I need a guarantee I won't be turned into a jackalope," I answer but she just laughs.
"That I cannot do. I will talk to My Lady. Maybe she can hold back the Hunters." I smile.
"Come on. I came to get you. You have a class to teach."
"But I wanna nap!" I whine.
"Awww does little Omega need a nap?" She asks mockingly and I nod eagerly. "That's sad. It's the Ares cabin. I bet they would love their buts to be handed to them on a sliver platter," She says walking away. I pause for a moment.
"Wait! Ares cabin!" I yell running to catch up with her.
