Chapter three

P.O.V of Robin
I'd seen enough of the screen to know where Rancid was going, and so I swam towards the shore and found my bike where I left it. I jumped back on it and drove down at top speeds to the road that Rancid should be on around now.

And I was right.

I was coming face to face with the van, and I wasn't yielding. I increased the speed and drove directly towards the van and we both stopped right before we went into each other. Idiots, if they thought someone on a bike would run into them they must be rather stupid. I leapt off my bike and leapt up to the front window, breaking through it and knocking the drivers and passengers heads together. Then I went round to the back and threw open the doors, instantly dodging out the way as the guards began to fire at me.

"Did we get 'em?" One of them asked.

"Can't see how we didn't." The other replied and I swung down, instantly knocking them out.

"Where is the key?" I asked as I threw Rancid against the side of the van.

"How did you-" He started.

"The key Rancid." I growled, "Next time I ask I won't be so polite."

"It's- It's back at m-my base of operations." He stammered out, "Pier 83."

"Thank you." I said and hit his head against the back so hard it knocked him out, hopefully the Titan's would get down here and lock him up before he ran wild.

I hopped back on my bike and headed down to the docks, taking back roads so as to try and avoid running into the Titan's in case they came looking for me. I arrived without any trouble and the pier was unlocked as I went inside.

It was rather as I would expect to find a place of Rancid's. Full of toys: Motorbikes, mechanical, city-destroying pets and random mechanical parts and...there. The key. I went over and picked it up, it didn't look like anything important but if Slade wanted it, it must be. I placed it in my compartment, had a further nosey around Rancid's place and then hopped on my bike, hitting the detonation and driving away as his base of operations blew sky high.

P.O.V of Raven
I waited patiently by Star's side as Cyborg and Beast Boy went out to deal with the attack on Rancid's transport. We knew who it'd be, and that was why I didn't want to go. I'm not sure I could face Robin in another fight. He was the reason the Titan's came together and he and Cyborg were the only ones who respected my space, and the fact he would no longer be there, it was going to be hard.

But there was something else as well, when Starfire came in and asked who he was with, he sounded so resigned, so defeated. And hurting her, that was a hell of a reaction that he doesn't deserve. He can't hurt someone and then care for them, it wasn't right. I jumped as an explosion racked the day and ran over the window to see the pier go up in flames.

"Cy, BB, have you seen this?" I asked through the comms.

"Yeah, we're going over to investigate now." Cyborg replied, "Rancid was knocked out in the van, Robin must have got what he wanted and left him there. Able to escape whenever he got back up, we've called a backup vehicle down, that should be fine."

"He doesn't deserve that name anymore." Beast Boy cut in, "Robin was a hero, a good guy. Who he is now, that isn't a hero."

"No, for now, he is nameless." Cyborg replied, "You're right, he no longer deserves that name."

"He deserves the name Renegade." I muttered.

"What's that mean?" BB asked.

"Deserter and traitor." I said and they mumbled their affirmations.

I walked back over to Star's side but she still showed no sign of waking back up anytime soon. What did Renegade do to her?

I didn't even stop as I leapt at Slade, leg outstretched ready for a kick, and for once I landed the first hit. He went stumbling backwards but quickly regained himself and came at me. I leapt up towards the rafters and grasped on with the edges of my fingers, flipping over so that I was crouching on them.

"What's the key for?" I asked into the hideout, unsure of where he had gone.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Slade murmured and a force knocked me forward and off the rafter back to the floor.

I struggled to get back up, the pain from the fall immense, but Slade put a foot on my back, forcing me to stay on the floor.

"Well done apprentice." He teased as he took the key from my pocket and walked over me, not bothering to try to lighten the weight he put on my back, and to his desk, "We almost have everything that we need. There are just a few more components and it will be perfect."

I stood up, grunting in pain, "Not if I can help it."

"Would you rather your friends to die?" Slade asked as he held up the controller, his thumb over the button.

I didn't say anything to that and he continued with his work. I quickly made sure that nothing was broken and then headed back to my room to heal, I hate him.

P.O.V of Raven.
Cyborg and Beast Boy were back by the time the sun was starting to go down and Starfire had finally waken up so we were just chatting, avoiding the subject of Renegade.

"There was nothing down at the pier." Cyborg groaned as he sat down, "It must have been a false alarm."

"Or it was Renegade." Beast Boy chimed in, pulling up a chair to sit around Star's bed with us.

"There's no evidence linking it to him."

"Who is Renegade?" Starfire asked.

"Renegade is the name we have given to Robin." Beast Boy said, "It means traitor."

"He deserves that name." Star growled, "I thought he was my best friend, but instead he is my worst enemy. He is a Renegade."

"And we're going to have to teach him a lesson." BB growled, "We're going to have to teach him not to mess with the Titans and their city, because we bring all criminals down, no matter who they are."

"But who is the new leader of the Titans?" Starfire asked.

"Cyborg is." I replied, "It only makes sense." I cut off his protests, "You've already been taking the role and Robin did lay most of his plans out better to you, he trusted you to take over if he ever went. And that time had come, you are to lead us now."

"Go Cyborg." Beast Boy said, "You earned it man."

"And our first mission is to bring in Renegade." He growled.

P.O.V of Robin
"Robin, I have another task for you." Slade called and I was awoken from my slumber. I stood up and walked out to meet him, "This is an undercover mission, so you're going to have to use your head a bit more than you have been recently. I have a contact who is attending the upcoming art gala, but the Titan's are trying to take her down. I need you to get in there and protect her for the entirety of the gala. If you fail I'll use extreme measures." He held up his controller as if emphasizing his point, "This is all you need to know about the contact, it starts tomorrow midday, make sure you're presentable." He handed me a folder and I opened it up, Cheshire A.K.A Jade Nguyen.

This was going to be fun.

P.O.V of Raven
"Cyborg, I think you got our first mission wrong." I called over towards him where he was busy playing video games with Beast Boy.

"What makes you say that?" He asked, pausing it and looking over.

"The fact that we have an undercover coming up, tomorrow." I said as I held up a sheet of paper and an invitation to an art gala, "Robin was going to go in a take out someone called Cheshire. But he's not here anymore so someone else will have to go."

"I volunteer you." Cyborg said.

"What?" I replied, now moving over to him, "Why me?"

"We need someone who looks human-like." He replied, "He's green, I'm half robot and she's orange and currently unable to stand on her leg. You're the only one who fits the criteria. Plus, you like art anyway."

"Fine." I ground out, "I'll go, but if anything goes wrong, I'm blaming you."
