"I don't want to be perfect."

In Phoenix Drop High Season Two, Aphmau says that quote during her emotional breakdown after finding out about Kai's true intentions during their date.

I know it's an extremely emotional episode, but there's something to be happy about; Aphmau isn't a complete mary sue now!

I mean, besides the fact that she still has high grades even though she only plays minigames and rants about her life, and also the fact that she has every guy falling for her, and also became the alpha female because of mysterious circumstances... she now has an actual flaw!

She puts too much attention to herself, but, well, she's the protagonist--

And you're probably going to rant on me, saying "Aphmau wasn't a mary sue in the first place! She's clumsy!"

Let me just say to you that being forgetful and clumsy aren't big flaws, since they could potentially help her find love interests, as well as most of the guys find clumsy women adorable. So, that crosses those out, basically makes her flawless.

She also has the used-to-be tough and gritty Aaron, the guy every girl in the series finds handsome, heck, even Katelyn, wrapped around her finger. Now, he's all soft, but that's just character development.

Aphmau could potentially have a believable flaw now, but I still believe that won't last long...

It still seems that she achieved that flaw just for Aarmau.

Now, here's a defense for Aphmau's character.

What if we looked at the term "mary sue" differently? What if mary sue meant someone too perfect for their world, instead of just being flat out perfect?

In that case, Aphmau wouldn't be defined a mary sue, as she encounters hindrances during her life. Though, she usually gets past through those with the help of other people and are usually easily dealt with, they're still problems.

In this light, it's not like I absolutely hate her character, with the defense and all. I personally have nothing against Jess and her series, it's just Aphmau's character.
