We've been putting this one on hold for a long time, so apologies to fulltimeaddicted for the extremely long wait on this.

*WARNING: The book to be reviewed contains swear words. Viewer discretion is advised!.. Gosh, I sound like the warning before television shows/movies...

For this week's critique, we'll be critiquing "Metaphors - Garrance//Laurroth (MCD)" written by fulltimeaddicted. Please do keep in mind that this is boyxboy, and if that's not your type, I do not recommend this fanfiction.

Anyways, onto the critique!

➵ c o v e r

I enjoy the minimalist approach you took on the cover, as simplicity is something most covermakers seem to forget, making them crowd their cover with too many graphics and text.

The title is self-explainable, except for the fact that it is not stated that it's a Garrance/Laurroth fanfiction, but that isn't to much of a problem, as the title itself states that.

The font is quite thin and makes it a bit harder for a few readers to see, and some would appreciate it if the font was made a bit thicker.

There honestly isn't that much to the blurb, but that doesn't make it bad. The blurb is actually good, in my opinion; there really isn't much to explain for the plot.

Garroth and Laurance's names weren't mentioned once in the blurb, but that's because this fanfic was meant for people of any fandom, and that you don't need to be an Aphmau fan to understand the story; this is a smart move, making this story have a larger demographic than normal fanfictions.

It isn't stated that Aphmau/Jess owns the characters, but it is hinted with the disclaimer that you don't need to be a fan of her to read the book. Maybe add that?

➵ t i t l e

The title is thought out and is a personal favorite of mine, as it relates to the small quote in the blurb, and fits in with the theme of literature/diary writing.

The title "Metaphors" is also quite unique, as not too many books have been published with the same title, and that this book is the most famous amongst the books with that title.

It is also specified that it is a Garrance/Laurroth fanfiction, making it easier for the reader to be drawn it to what they're interested in; it saves them from wasting time on trying to find what they're looking for.

Also, kudos for spelling the ship name correctly.

➵ s t o r y

I like the plot, with the take on reading each other's diaries. Sneaky little-

It's also a very long story (currently with 72 parts), and if you're looking for a story to keep you busy for a long time, this is a good choice.

The story has its fair share of humorous, fluffy, and serious moments. Also its fair share of swear words, and questionable author's notes.

It's overall an enjoyable story if you support Garrance/Laurroth and favor a well-balanced story.

Also, most of the writing here isn't capitalized. It's a part of the style, so I don't really mind it, but that might trigger some grammar freaks--

➵ s u m m a r y

1.) credit Jess for the characters, if possible.

2.) make the title font a bit thicker, but it appears to be a part of the theme for the book, so it's understandable if not possible.

---

I honestly cannot find too many flaws with this book, and it's generally enjoyable.

Remember, critiques aren't a way of harassment or attacking, but more of a way to develop one's writing skills and help them grow. But, I'm pretty sure this person is aware of that, since they requested for a critique.

As usual, signing off,
