Hello, hello my fellow Aphmau fans! It's VinylLights , and I'm extremely sorry for the recent lack of content! We're all pretty busy, but we have a winner for the admin elections! Though — the winner will be announced once I have gained all of the admins' approvals.
Now, this isn't your regular announcement from us — it's kind of like a written-out PSA, but here's the gist of it...
Please stop copying this book club.
I'm not going to call anyone out, but recently, I've stumbled upon the second book club that had an uncanny resemblance to this one. Oh yes — there was one before this one, and it was much worse.
Let's start from the top: the very first copycat. At the time, I had known this person for not even a week, but when I visited their profile and checked their followers, I had stumbled upon a book club — not just any book club, but a book club with the exact same bio, edited to make it look like theirs, and club rules and activities just like ours.
I, nor any of my fellow admins, did not make an announcement about this, since I didn't want to look like a total ass (please excuse my language) and call them out. And now, the book club is inactive, nor has it ever been, really.
Next, is the more recent one. It has a bio quite similar to ours. The format with "admin/name/position/quote" was also used — and of course, they used the same, thick, bold quotation marks that we did.
It also has a book cover and title similar to ours; it was pretty much our book cover, but with our username changed into their username, and Aphmau exchanged with *insert character/person*. Me, being the one who made the cover, was pretty pissed off (again, please excuse the language).
It also didn't help that both of these book clubs had some sort of acronym that only had one letter different from our acronym, TABC. I mean, I'm not taking credit for starting "book club acronyms", since everyone would basically have "BC", but still — with all the other evidence I had, there was no way this wasn't a sign.
This could've all been fine with me if it listed us as their "inspiration" or if they had asked permission before copying us. We're not trying to be rude, but there is a line you cannot cross, and these book clubs just crossed it.
If you happen to stumble upon these accounts, I advise you to not bother them nor slander them — violence is not the answer to anything and calmly talking it out would be much better. Thank you.
But, anyway, thank you all so much for 400 followers! It really means a lot to all of us, and I hope we've brought smiles to your faces like you did to us. Once again, thank you!

Signing out, this is VinylLights.
