Chapter 2 (continued)

(Next part of chapter two... XD)

Robbie-

When Robbie woke up it was 6 am. Lazily, he stretched his arms out and yawned before resting his head back onto his pillow.

Last night he'd attended a house party of a friend of a friend and, although he hadn't mixed with anyone of his own sex, he'd definitely gotten to know a few of the girls his age a bit better.

He smiled as the few memories he could still recall came to mind.

He didn't doubt for a second that his new accomplishments would already have been spread around the school by the time he got there which he knew would only increase the girls' attraction to him.

Slowly, he got up to get dressed before half - heartedly dragging a comb through his hair.

When he looked at himself in the mirror he grinned. He had to admit, with his perfectly defined jaw and chiselled cheekbones he could see why the girls loved him. He looked just like a modern day Casanova.

Slipping on his blazer, he grabbed his school bag and stuffed his books inside before leaving the room.

When he climbed down the stairs he made a mental note to steer clear of Greg, and walked out through the front door - completely ignoring the protests of one of the temporary social workers.

He made his way down the street with his hands jammed into his pockets and quickly scanned the neighbourhood. All seemed to be in order.

Recently he'd been getting a sense that someone had been following him and the prickles he felt on the back of his neck whenever he was alone only reinforced that.

When he crossed the road and slowed his pace he felt a prickle on the back of his neck again.

He stopped then swiftly carried on again, looking uneasily around him. When he saw nothing he sped up, someone was following him and they were probably watching now, laughing as he sped down the street.

He suddenly turned, nostrils flaring as he desperately searched for whatever was hiding in the shadows.

When he saw nothing he carried on again, cusring the one who was behind this.

Seeing the school gates, he slowed his pace. The prickles on the back of his neck had gone and as he walked through them he breathed out a sigh of relief.

He would never admit it, but whenever he felt like he was being watched he felt uneasy.

It was as if he could somehow sense the presence as if it were a living shadow lingering in the darkness- its malevolence slowly polluting its surroundings.

He shuddered.

Whatever it was that he could picture, he imagined that it could only be something that appeared within the depths of your nightmares.

And he definitely didn't want to be the one it captured.

When he stepped inside he made a vow to find out whoever it was who was stalking him. It wasn't in his nature to fear, and he didn't like it. It would stop. Soon.

The shadow watched as the boy walked into the school building, and made a quick phone call.

Just as Robbie had believed, its malevolence seemed to seep into the air, cooling it by several degrees.

When they'd finished they decided to wait there until the boy had come out. Only then would they make their move.

This was not a mission that they wanted to fail.

Jane-

Jane remained as still as a statue as she struggled to comprehend what had just taken place.

She was currently sitting inside a large van with tinted windows, and her hands were tied behind her back.

Beside her sat none other than the dark - haired boy who she had been crushing on from the safe distance of her bedroom window for the past two years.

She stared at his heavenly face and then looked away as he made eye contact, her cheeks immediately heating.

After another minute she scrunched her eyes up, wrinkling her nose as she did so. Maybe... Nope.

She still couldn't understand how she'd gotten here. All she remembered was that one minute she was living out her dream and was talking to the one she now deemed was quite possibly the love of her life, and then the next... Bam!

She'd been snatched as quick as a flash by someone who had smelled like men's soap who had hauled a rough sack over her head.

She hadn't even had time to scream.

As much as it was possible to with a gag tied around her mouth, Jane grinned -a little bit insanely she might add, as she felt anything but happy, and then whimpered.

This time she squeezed her eyes shut  in embarrassement as the warm tears began to squeeze out through her eyelids and let in a great big shuddering breath (as best as she could) which ended up sounding like a muffled snort. She cringed again as she felt her cheeks heat up.

Yeah, it was great to be next to her crush at such a close distance, but she didn't half wish that she was at home.

She couldn't help but think of what she would be doing now. If only she had managed to get home safely. She nearly cried again.

She wanted to go home and see her parents - she didn't want to be locked in a van and tied up with no idea where she was going. Realising this, she let out another sniffle. She really didn't want to be here, and she didn't want to find out where she was going.

Robbie-

He watched as the girl with the mousy brown hair began to snivel. She was sitting across from him and was also tied up in chains, but she was also gagged where as he wasn't.

He looked away and barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

He knew that she was scared and that she couldn't help it, but he couldn't help but notice that ever since climbing in she'd just sat there with the same  permanent look of shock on her face.

He'd worn the same expression but as he'd realised that they weren't going to be let out any time soon, his had slowly hardened instead to one of anger.

But hers looked the same and it was grating on him. Badly.

He looked away again and clenched his tied up fists into tight balls. He had to admit, he hadn't seen it coming.

Whoever had them now had certainly been quick about snatching them, and as he tried to think back to the tell tale signs of what should have alerted him to their presence, he could think of nothing.

When he'd stepped out of the school gates just an hour earlier, another blonde girl's number in his blazer pocket, he'd immediately known that something was wrong.

It was when he'd decided to take a short cut and had walked down a side alley that he'd known that he was being followed.

He'd just never had expected it to be his kidnapper.

Closing his eyes, he tried to visualise what had happened in detail.

Frowning, he remembered walking through the alley way and then after that, walking up a street that was not too far away from his care home. But after that it got a bit hazy.

He blinked open his eyes again as the van jolted, knocking him forward. The girl let out a small squeak that was slightly muffled behind her gag and widened her eyes in alarm

The van swerved again, almost knocking her completely sideways.

He narrowed his gaze towards the front of the van and tried to burn a hole through the wall. Didn't they realise that they were driving like maniacs, whoever they were?

He resisted the urge to kick something as the van lurched again as it skidded sharply sideways.

The girl fell forward and hit her head on a wooden crate, what the heck was a wooden crate doing in a van?, and was knocked unconscious.

He kicked another crate in anger and twisted his body sideways just as  something large skidded across the floor, missing him by a few inches.

He looked at the girl again and tried to reach her by first pulling at his chains. He struggled again but nothing loosened. Defeated, he slumped against the van wall, his head slack.

The van gave one last lurch, making something hit him sharply on the side of his head. Before he realised what was happening, the world had begun to go black.

At the same time, Jane's mother let herself in and called up to her daughter.

When there was silence her mother placed her keys on the counter and shut the door behind her.

She waited a moment before calling out again. When there was no reply she began to make her way nervously up the stairs.

Cautiously, she pushed open her daughter's bedroom door and peered in. When she noticed that there was no sign of her, she swallowed a lump that had suddenly formed in her throat and made her way back down the stairs before calling her husband.

He picked up on the second ring and sounded alarmed when it was his wife that answered.

Jane's mother let out a shaky breath and twisted the phone wire nervously in her hands.  "She's gone, Steven. She's not here." Her voice was no more than a whisper.
