Chapter Four
Marguerite's point of view
Sitting next to the strange man in a mask felt quite awkward. Unable to eat, I found myself staring at him, wanting to take in his every aspect. His suit and cape, his black hair, his piercing blue eyes, and that strange white mask. I wanted to grab that mask of his and rip it off to see what possibly could be underneath. My mother tapped my shoulder.
"Marguerite, please do not stare."
"Mother, why does he have a mask on? May I ask what's underneath?"
She sighed. "I would truly prefer it if you refrained from that. I made the mistake of asking what was underneath all those years ago... or rather, didn't even ask."
Not wanting to disobey my mother or make her uncomfortable, I returned to eating. But what is underneath that mask? I had to know. I couldn't help myself. My fingers reached for the side of the mask before my mother grabbed my wrist, preventing me from pulling it off.
"Marguerite, why don't you go upstairs?"
I nodded and quickly ran up to my room.
Phantom's point of view
"I see she's a little prying pandora like yourself."
My Christine sighed. "Yes, Marguerite seems quite curious as to why you wear a mask."
I laughed. "She certainly seems like your daughter. She's quite pretty as well, I must say."
Christine placed one of her soft hands on my shoulder. "Erik, it was quite nice to see you again. Perhaps we should find a time to meet up." "Perhaps, my dear."
