On the newly built earth two humans, the first of their kind were brought to life. The two stared at each other for the first time and..

"Gross" she stated.

"What?" The boy gave an offended gasp "I'm not gross, your gross!"

"Oh very clever comeback"

"I literally just popped into existence. Give me a break you bug eyed freak!"

"Why you!" She tackled him to the ground.

"Well this is a problem" back in heaven god was watching his newest children try and rip each others heads off with a disappointed scowl. He expected things to go a lot smoother than this. Not to mention how exhausted he was after spending six sleepless nights on this project.

"We didn't even take into account that they may not like each other" angel Gabriel ran a hand through his messy brown hair "shall we intervene?"

"We must if we're going to salvage this project" god rested his weary head on his hand "but who should we send?"

Gabriel smiled knowingly "I know a certain someone who's been dying to get involved in this project"

From behind the door the youngest arch angel Lucifer waited with baited breath.

"Lucifer? Oh I'm not sure. He has such big ideas but struggles to stick to the rules" god muttered worriedly.

"Oh come on" he muttered, resisting the urge to burst in there and plead his case.

"I agree father" angel Michael cut in "Lucifer's too immature to handle this"

"Screw you Michael" he grumbled. His brother had always looked down on him.

"Which is why we should give him more responsibility" Gabriel argued "pushing him to the side won't help him improve. This is an easy task so why not give him a chance?"

"Very well" god sighed in defeat.

"Yes!" Lucifer burst in excitedly.

"I should have known you'd be listening in" Michael rolled his eyes but Lucifer was too happy to complain.

"Thank you Gabby" he hugged his brother "and as for you Michael you can suck it bitch!" He laughed in his face.

"Lucifer morningstar you will watch your language" the boy shrunk down at his father's stern tone.

"Sorry father" he flew up and hugged him "thanks for giving me this chance"

"Of course son" he patted Lucifers head. He's always had a soft spot for his youngest.

"I won't let you down" he said determinedly as he flew down to earth where he was greeted to the fighting humans.

"Hello-"

"Ahh it's a bird, kill it!" Adam picked up a stone and threw it at his head.

"Wait wait!" He held his hands up before they could injure him further "I'm an angel sent by god"

"An angel!" Lilith's eyes lit up as she got closer "and what have you been sent to do?"

"Uhh" his mind went blank for a moment. He'd never seen such a beautiful woman before "I've been sent here to help you two get along"

The two of them stared at each other "no way!"

"But you have to" he tried to reason with them "in order to repopulate you two need to get along"

"Repopulate? How do we do that?" Lilith asked.

Lucifer's face turned red. Oh boy he's going to have to have that talk isn't he? Once he finished the two looked disgusted.

"Ew there's no way I'm doing that!"

"Yeah I'm already close enough to this weirdo!"

"You're the weirdo!" The two started wrestling.

"Ok maybe I should just take you one on one" he separated the two. Since he felt slightly intimidated by Lilith he started with Adam.

"Ok buddy let's talk" he took a seat opposite him "what is it that you hate about Lilith?"

"Ugh everything" he folded his arms "she's super mean and she never wants to do anything I want to do"

"Ok it sounds to me like you two have a communication problem" he said calmly "to fix this we should-"

"Are you a boy or a girl?"

"Eh?" Lucifer was thrown off by the sudden question.

"Well you don't have any bits so it's kinda hard to tell"

"I'm a boy"

"Are you sure?" He looked at him skeptically.

"Very sure" he smiled patiently.

"Cool" he walked up to him and tugged on his clothes "is this your skin?"

"No these are clothes" he explained.

"Can I wear clothes?"

"I'm sure you can"

"What's heaven like?"

"Well we're getting a little off topic here-"

"I like your wings" he held them up "can I get wings too?"

"Yes you can once you die and enter heaven"

"Die? What does that mean?" He tilted his head in confusion. Lucifer froze. He wasn't supposed to say that but there's no going back now.

"Dying is what happens to all living things. It's when your body stops working and you become a soul"

"That sounds scary" tears built up in the boys eyes "I don't want to die!"

"Hey hey easy buddy" he reached out and gently wiped his tears "it's not scary. Once you die you'll grow beautiful wings and get to live in the kingdom of heaven"

"Really" he looked at him with glossy eyes.

"Yep but you have to repopulate the earth so your children and grandchildren can experience heaven too. Can you promise me that?" He held up his finger

"Yes" he looked at him in confusion. Lucifer smiled and linked his finger with the boy. He felt like they were going to be good friends.

Next he went to Lilith but she was nowhere to be found. He was about call out when a soft pair of hands covered his eyes.

"Lilith?" He asked. She responded with a soft giggle that made his heart skip a beat.

"Guilty" she moved away with the smile. He was starstruck by that smile but he had to focus.

"Let's talk about Adam-"

"I don't want to talk about Adam. I want to talk about you" she stroked his cheek.

"I don't think we should-"

"Come on where's your sense of adventure" she grabbed his hand and dragged him around Eden "this is my favourite spot" she took him to a spot where the grass was the greenest and the sun shone brightest "isn't it beautiful"

"It really is" his eyes shone with wonder "they did a great job with earth"

"You didn't help?" she tilted her head in confusion.

"No. They didn't like my ideas" he looked away.

"I'd like to hear your ideas" she leaned in excitedly.

"You would?" He looked up in surprise. She nodded. His heart swelled up with pride and he listed off each of his ideas for this world while Lilith listened with intrigue.

It was at that moment he realised he'd fallen in love.

Weeks went by as he continued his work on the first humans and he'd grown to adore them both. His heart ached at the thought of not being with Lilith and the thought of his selfish actions hurting Adam. He felt lost.

It was then that he found Adam sitting alone with a broken guitar.

"Hey what's wrong buddy. You look down" he took a seat beside him.

The boy let out a sigh "I tried to play music like you do but I'm not very good. Maybe I'm just not meant to"

"Adam you can do whatever you put your mind to" he handed adam his guitar, fixing the broken string "it's important to follow your dreams. Heaven doesn't really believe in dreams but I do. Our dreams are what make us special"

"What's your dream luc?" He asked.

Lucifer hesitated before answering "my dream right now is to be with Lilith"

He nodded "then you should"

"Really, you're not upset!" He gasped.

"Nope!" He said simply "I don't know what you see in that awful woman but you're my friend and I want you to be happy. Even if it means ruining heaven's plans"

He teared up and hugged the boy "thank you!" He said before flying off to find Lilith.

*Time skip*

Lucifer watched his old friend through the bushes, clutching an apple in his hands. Adam now had a new wife, one he seemed to get along with. And in his hand he held the power to change humanity for better or for worse.

"Go on" Lilith urged him "it's your dream. You deserve to have a say in how earth is run too"

He nodded as he stepped outside "hey Adam"

"Lucifer!" He bounced up to him "how are you. It's been so long"

"I wish we had time to catch up but I'm kinda in a rush" he held up the apple "this apple is my gift to humanity. One bite from this and you'll have free will. You'll be able to chase those dreams we always talk about"

He took the apple, his eyes filled with concern "I don't know luc. Won't you get in trouble for this?"

"Probably but some dreams are worth fighting for" he nodded determinedly "please Adam, just take a bite"

"Alright I'll trust you" he nodded as he took that bite...
