Sweet Nothings (Part 2)

A/N: Part two of the double update for the day. Hope you enjoy!
*****************
"This is so wrong." Keigo whispered, as he smashed his lips against mine.
"Being devious is more fun. Isn't that what you told me once?" I smirked, returning his kiss in full.
Keigo chuckled in amusement against my mouth, taking another chicken strip from between my lips and pulling on it with his teeth.
"Damn. You've really taken my sexy little sentence, from way back when, out of context, huh? When I imagined the meaning behind those words, all those months ago, it definitely didn't have anything to do with me seductively taking chicken nuggets from your mouth, while we fly." Keigo casually pointed out, tilting his head up so the chicken nugget would slide into his mouth more easily.
I continued hugging my arms around Keigo's shoulders, craning my head down towards the fried chicken bucket that was pressed in between our chests.
"Well, neither of us have any free hands at the moment, so thought I'd make do with what I have. If anything, you should be proud that you have such a genius girlfriend." I smirked, grabbing another chicken tender between my teeth and carefully lifting my face up towards Keigo's.
Keeping his eyes on the flight path, Keigo opened his mouth, biting down on the other side of my chicken strip to grab his half.
"Still can't believe you made us take a pit stop so you could get chicken." He groaned out with a mouthful of food, subtly looking down at the chicken box in between us to see if we had any left.
We did not.
I let out a mock gasp of surprise at Keigo's statement, hugging my legs tighter around his waist as we flew.
"Keigo Takami complaining about eating chicken? I never thought I'd see the day. Guess people really do change." I stated, shaking my head in teasing disbelief.
Keigo lightly rolled his eyes, turning his golden gaze on me now.
"Oi, did I not tell ya that I already packed us lunch, you crazy little chick? Don't go ruining my cheesy romantic date plan for the day, alright? We've already got 'making out in the sky' checked off. Next, is lunch with a view." He smirked out, wiggling his brows at me in fake seduction.
I laughed softly at his words, throwing my head back slightly to let the sky breeze flow over my face.
"Yeah, you're a real panty dropper, Keigs."
"Tell me somethin' I don't know."
"And besides, you think I won't eat the lunch you packed? It's called second breakfast, hellooo? That's why I got the small bucket of chicken instead of the large size. Problem solving." I pointed out, snuggling my face against his shoulder.
Keigo's chest vibrated with a hum of acknowledgement to my words, as he gently began rubbing my back.
"Damn, that's hot. Hey, you're the only woman for me. You know that?" He said smugly, the stubbled hairs of his jaw tickling my face as he spoke.
I cursed the stupid giggle that fell out of my mouth at his words, burying my face against his shoulder deeper so he wouldn't hear it-
"Did you just giggle?! Ah, you did, didn't you!? I always knew ya had the hots for me, chicky. But, a giggle?! Wow, you just can't resist me, even if you tried, huh?" He teased, grazing his smiling lips against my forehead.
I groaned in annoyance, rotating my head slightly so I could look up at his face.
Keigo looked down at me in flirtatious challenge, clearly ready for whatever roast fest we were about to get into.
I felt my cheeks heating up at this newfound upper hand he had, begrudgingly averting my gaze to the side.
"Go away." I pouted at him softly, only causing him to continue with his antics.
It's not often that I'm able to get flustered, and Keigo knows that....so when he accomplishes the task, he milks it for all it's worth.
"Nah, go on. Say it, baby. Don't be shy now. I know you've got an insult ready for me in that pretty head of yours." He snickered, slowly starting to descend our flight lower into the clouds now.
We must be getting close to our destination.
"Are you saying you want me to make fun of you?" I laughed in disbelief, finding amusement in his ridiculous antics.
"No, I'm just tryin' to expose the fact that you don't have any witty comebacks up your sleeve, right now. Don't worry though, it's common to become speechless when you're in the presence of the number two hero. I completely understand." Keigo whispered, forcing his flirty eyes away from me so he could focus on his flight.
I felt our intertwined bodies gradually starting to hover lower and lower into the clouds, as I realized Keigo must be getting ready to land very soon.
"Careful. The weight of your ego might cause us to crash." I retorted lightly, causing him to immediately crack up at my words.
"Well, damn. And here I was, thinkin' you didn't have anything to say for once. You sure do keep me on my toes." He grinned, letting his flapping wings coast through the sky now as our path finally broke under the clouds.
"Oh, are we here? Finally gonna tell me where we are, birdie?" I asked eagerly, starting to see the land below us coming into view.
His teasing attitude lightened up at my question, his cheeky smirk replaced with a light smile now.
"Hm, well instead of telling you...I think I'll just let you see for yourself." He stated softly, nodding for me to look ahead.
I turned my eyes away from him to look at the scenery in front of us, my jaw dropping in shock as I realized where we finally were.
No way...
"What..." I breathed out in pure surprise, taking in the glorious, familiar sight below me.
Big mountains and dark green hills, that went for miles, decorated the land below. The beautiful patches of flowers speckled the quaint countryside with a bit of color. And over to my left, of course, was that familiar, crystal blue waterfall.
The Tengoku Summit.
"Welcome home, chicky." Keigo whispered into my ear, turning his head towards me slightly so he could get a look at my reactions.
And I'm sure he wasn't disappointed by the sight of pure and utter pleasant surprise on my face. I probably looked like a kid who got their favorite present in the world on Christmas morning.
"We're....home...?" I uttered out in awe, feeling an enormous smile starting to flash across my face.
Not that I wanted to hide it, but I couldn't have stopped my smile even if I tried. I was too happy.
Keigo's soft laugh echoed into my ear at my obvious tone of surprise, seeming pretty satisfied with himself that he was able to keep this little treat a secret.
"Mhmm. We're home. I couldn't really take you on a date in the city with all those eyes watchin'. But, besides that, I would have rather taken you here, anyways." He explained, starting to lower our flight closer towards the ground now.
I couldn't take my eyes off the quiet town below, immediately scanning the houses to find-
"Your parents' house is down there. See it?" Keigo asked quietly, holding me tightly against him with one arm so he could use his free hand to point in the right direction.
And I did see it, causing me to let out an audible, content sigh of relief.
Because, now I'm close to them. I know they're okay.
And after all of Dabi's torturous threats, concerning the people I care about the most, the best thing I could have asked for was to be close to them.
Keigo knew that, which is why he took me here.
"Yeah...I see.." I whispered, resting the side of my head on Keigo's shoulder as we continued flying through the air.
"They know we're here. I told them we'd come for breakfast, tomorrow. I'm assuming that's okay with you?" Keigo smirked, already knowing I'd be more than okay with it.
I furrowed my brows in surprise at his words, quickly lifting my head to look at him.
"Wait, what? How do they know that? I didn't know we were coming, so there was no way I could have told them." I said in question.
Keigo sighed out happily as the misty breeze, coming off the Tengoku Summit, consumed us the closer we got to the ground.
"Ah, man. I really love this place, chicky. Oh, and yeah, I talked with Susy and Michael the other day. Sammy, too. Better watch out though, or I might replace ya. They like me a lot, y'know." He winked out, giving his lip a soft, teasing bite.
I couldn't help but laugh with him, feeling on cloud nine from the sentimental surprise Keigo had planned for me. No one's ever done something like this for me before, and it really meant a lot.
"But, how did you do it, Keigs? Did Diane approve the time off?" I asked in curiosity.
As Diane has drilled into our heads many times, Keigo and I are nothing more than property of the government. We're not allowed to go anywhere, or really do anything without getting approval from the hero commission. It's against our contracts with them.
The contracts that no one knew about. Not parents. Friends. Nor, the public.
All of it was in the dark. The contracts we signed when we were just children, without a clue as to what was going on. The contracts that practically made us sell our souls, to become the heroes that the world wanted to be entertained and saved by.
Keigo's flight began taking a small turn now as he headed towards the top of the big waterfall, making me realize that he was intending to land on top of the big summit that overlooked the town.
"What Diane and those hoity-toity snobs at the commission don't know won't kill them. But, hey, if we're lucky, maybe it will." He reasoned, causing me to snort in amusement at his statement.
A statement that we both may, or may not, have secretly hoped for....
After a few more moments, Keigo finally reached the top of the summit, letting out a sigh of relief as he'd finally be able to land and relax.
"I guess that's true. But, still, I'm surprised, Keigs. You're usually one to follow Diane's orders pretty closely. You haven't really been doing that, lately. Not that I'm complaining. If anything....I think it's a nice change." I smiled as he hovered us above the grassy ground, before slowly lowering us onto the land for the first time in a while.
Only after ensuring I was steady on the ground, did Keigo finally release his grip on me, allowing me to walk out of his arms and stretch my back after the long flight.
"Eh, I can't dispute that. I dunno, chicky, Diane's impact isn't as strong as it used to be. Before I met you....I didn't know anything else. All I knew was her. All I was allowed to see was her. Talk to her. Listen to her. I didn't have any room to breathe, and quite frankly, she always sounds so....convincing. It's like whatever she says, she's always right...." Keigo mumbled, starting to become lost with his point.
But even so, I couldn't help but nod in agreement. Diane has always been a very convincing person. It's as if no matter the argument, no matter how ridiculous or unfair it may seem....she's always able to persuade and coerce you that she's right.
"Ah, but anyways." Keigo quickly followed up, shaking his head out of Diane's residual trance to finish what he was going to say before.
I quickly turned my attention back to him, watching him shuffling around in his packed bag to pull out a blanket.
"What I was sayin' before, is that now I have you. You're like my voice of reason, chicky. You help me see clearly and get a new perspective on the world." He explained, gently laying down the blanket atop the cool grass.
I smiled softly as I watched him carefully smoothing out every wrinkle and bump in the blanket to ensure it would be as comfortable as possible.
Slowly walking over to him, I noticed he still looked lost in thought. Clearly, he had a little bit more to say.
"You help me realize....that there's more in life than Diane. Than the hero commission. You've also shown me how to....have fun. Relax a little. I didn't really know how to do those things before. But...now I know." Keigo said softly, keeping his eyes down at the checkered blanket-starting to get shy with his own words.
I plopped down on the blanket, letting out a big sigh of relaxation as I lay on my back.
Keigo remained standing for a moment, dragging his eyes up from the blanket to look down at my face.
Stretching my arms over my head, I lazily held my hand out for him to take, smiling up at him brightly.
"So, what are you waiting for then? Come relax with me." I whispered sweetly, causing him to smile and grab my hand.
The moment Keigo grabbed my hand, he didn't resist at all when he felt me dragging him down on the floor, immediately plopping down next to me on the blanket.
Once he was on his back, I rolled on my side towards him, hooking my leg around his waist and burying my face into his chest snugly.
Not needing to say a word, Keigo warmly wrapped his arms around me, lifting my body up for a quick second so he could rest his wing comfortably under my figure.
"Are you comfortable?" He uttered softly, unnecessarily adjusting his hold on me to ensure I was in a good position.
"Mhmm." I hummed out, feeling giddy as I tightened my hold on him.
Keigo chuckled softly and I wasn't sure why until I felt his thumb brushing against the side of my mouth.
"I haven't seen you smile like that in ages. But, damn, I missed it." He said, gently tucking his finger underneath my chin to lift my face towards his.
I fluttered my attention up to him, hearing the soft trickles of the waterfall echoing behind us.
"Well, that's because this moment is absolutely perfect. It's just me and you. Relaxing. Having free time. Together. And that.....well, that's the most perfect date I could have asked for." I stated, resting my chin atop his chest so I could keep his gaze.
Keigo looked down at me lazily, snaking his hands into my hair to comb it out of my face.
"Well, hey, that is my goal, y'know. A world where heroes can have more free time. A world where you and I can have more free time. A world where we can just live our lives. I'll make that a reality for you, baby. I'll do it as fast as I possibly can." He whispered absentmindedly, more focused with the features of my face than the words he was saying.
I rolled my eyes softly at his bearing statement, not wanting the daily reminder right now, of the weight he puts on his own shoulders.
Sliding up his body, I slid my hand around the back of his neck, bringing his head up slightly so I could kiss him.
Keigo immediately shut up once my lips were on his, rolling his eyes closed to focus on the moment.
Feeling a little more needy, I slowly glided my tongue along his bottom lip, causing Keigo to immediately allow me to deepen the kiss.
"No talk of hero stuff today." I uttered against his mouth, before quickly deepening our kiss even more.
Keigo huffed out a small pant at my control, slowly trailing his hands down my back to rest on my hips.
"What hero stuff?" He smirked, lifting his head off the ground slightly to let me know he wanted to kiss again.
I giggled softly, feeling his hands give my butt a cheeky squeeze.
"Exactly. We're not heroes today." I stated, resting my forehead against his.
The world around us suddenly went dark with the color of deep red surrounding Keigo and I's headspace, making me realize he'd wrapped his wings around us.
"Oh yeah? Then what are we?" He asked, the golden orbs of his avian eyes contrasting brightly against the deep red color of his feathers.
I pursed my lips in fake thought at his question, shooting him a threat-less glare when he gave my butt another squeeze.
"Just a cheesy ass, average, ordinary couple." I nodded, shooting him a proud grin.
Keigo puffed his cheeks out in light dissatisfaction for my words, shooting me a look of disbelief.
"Average? Oh please darlin', we're too good looking for that. Or, at least I am, anyways-" He joked, before I lightly flicked him in the forehead.
"Ow. Hey, that hurt."
"Don't worry, I won't rough up your pretty boy face."
"Good. I was worried there for a second." Keigo sighed out in fake relief, gliding his hands along my hips once more.
"Ah, but ya know, chicky..." He started out, continuing to feel my figure through the material of my dress.
I tilted my head to the side, silently asking him to continue his thoughts.
"I really do love this dress on you. It's not everyday I get to see you in one. The only other time I've seen you in a dress was at the pro hero JP ball. And even then, I was more focused on making sure that Christmas tree didn't lay a finger on you." Keigo said, causing me to laugh at the subtle bitterness he still had towards Kamui Woods.
"Christmas tree, huh? Sounds like jealousy to me. All you had to do was ask me to that dance yourself, and all that drama would have been avoided. But, instead you chose to take that.....that....eh, you know what? There's not much I can say about her, actually. Kiara's a beautiful girl. Ditz, maybe?" I mumbled, realizing my attempts at making a witty insult had fallen apart.
"Ah, yes. Ditz, she is. I couldn't focus on her at all though. I was too focused on you that night. Speaking of..." Keigo started, as a small grin began making its way onto his face.
"Oh, boy. I know that voice. What do you want?" I laughed in question, bracing myself for whatever douchey tease Keigo was about to make.
He cocked his head to the side, with his blonde hair falling onto the grass. Even though his smile was confident and flirty, his eyes were soft and genuine, making me realize that whatever he was about to say, it was something real.
"Hey....you still owe me a dance, remember? You agreed to it, that night we broke into the school. What was it you said again? Someday, right? Well....I think today qualifies as someday. Hm? What do you think?" He asked, the sudden gentle tone of his voice betraying the smirk that was plastered on his face.
My brows raised in slight surprise at Keigo's request, studying his face carefully to see if he was serious.
He simply looked at me in soft question, tracing light circles on my sides with his thumbs as he waited for my answer.
"Really? You wanna dance now? Here?" I asked in confirmation, slowly lifting my head off his chest.
Keigo took my actions as a sign of agreement, causing him to shuffle around from under me before he carefully slid my body off his own.
"Yeah. Why? Gonna reject me? Don't go breaking my heart now." He smirked, slowly rising up from the ground to standing.
I remained sitting for a moment, watching Keigo give his arms and his wings a big lazy stretch, before he turned his attention down to me.
"Dance with me, chicky." He stated confidently, holding his hand out for me to take.
How can I say no to that face?
Smiling happily, I placed my hand in his, feeling him give it a light squeeze before carefully hoisting me up to my feet.
His eyes met mine now, looking at me warmly as he slowly led us away from our little spot on the grass.
Cursing my cheeks for heating up, I slowly averted my gaze to the grass as we walked.
I know Keigo saw me blushing, and I fully expected him to make some smart ass comment about how I'm flustered.
But, he didn't this time.
He simply pulled me into his chest, grabbing one of my hands in his, while snaking his free hand on my back.
Biting my lip in new found nerves, I slowly trailed my gaze away from the floor to find his face.
Keigo was already looking down at me, his eyes glowing from the reflection of the sunlight, mixed with the sense of peaceful bliss he was currently feeling.
"I can't dance very well." I blurted out quietly, his intense, handsome face forcing my cheeks to continue their flustered streak for the day.
Curse the bird for being so damn sexy.
Keigo laughed softly, clearly taking in my rare, awkward demeanor in full delight.
He loved when I blushed for him.
Yet, I could tell this was one moment that he didn't want to ruin with his teases, as he didn't say anything about my flushed appearance.
Instead, he continued smiling at me, slowly starting to move his feet back and forth so I'd do the same.
"I'll lead." He uttered gently, his voice almost inaudible against the soft splashes of the waterfall a few feet away.
I nodded as I began moving my feet with Keigo's, cringing softly as I stepped on them a few times.
"Fuck-sorry." I muttered out dumbly, cursing myself for being the one to ruin the moment today.
But, I guess my shitty dance skills didn't matter to Keigo, as he remained completely unfazed by me stepping on his feet.
"You're alright. I got you." He whispered coaxingly, gently pressing the back of my head forward so I'd rest on his shoulder.
I took his advice, allowing my head to relax against him, taking in his wonderful, familiar scent.
Normally, he smells like mint and fresh laundry. But, today, I could have sworn I smelled faint hints of cologne as well.
He smelled more amazing than usual.
My eyes fell half lidded in bliss at his sweet reassurances, feeling my self conscious insecurities drifting away.
I lazily looked past Keigo, seeing the beautiful scenery of green hills and misty mountains laid out countless feet below us.
No one was here. It was just Keigo and I. It was wonderful.
We danced together in blissful silence for some time. Quite honestly, I don't even know if you could call it a dance, considering the fact that Keigo and I were just lamely swaying back and forth together like those old couples. But, it was sweet either way.
Missing the sound of his voice some time later, I decided to speak.
"So. Do you take all your dates here?" I joked softly, feeling Keigo's chest vibrate with a laugh.
He began swaying my arms a little more at the sound of my voice, seeming as if he was coming out of his own day dream and back into reality.
"Eh....only the cute ones who know my tragic backstory." He shrugged casually, slowly lifting up our intertwined hands so I would twirl under them.
I twirled on my toes, feeling Keigo's hand immediately find my back again once I came fully back around.
"Oh yeah? And how many 'cute ones' know your backstory?" I smiled jokingly, feeling Keigo pull me snug against his chest again.
He pursed his lips in fake thought, pretending as if he was counting an infinite amount of girls in his head.
"Ninety-seven....ninety-eight...ninety-nine-" He started counting, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Very funny." I sneered lightly, gasping slightly when I felt Keigo suddenly dip my back down towards the floor.
A laugh of unexpected excitement escaped my lips at the action, before he gently brought me back up.
"Ah, so you like the dips, huh?" He smirked, quickly dipping me back down again.
I threw my head back, seeing the sight of the upside down sky and mountains within my vision, before Keigo brought me back up to standing again.
Feeling a cheeky remark about to leave the tip of my tongue, my wits immediately turned to mush once my gaze caught sight of Keigo's eyes.
He was serious now, his fierce gaze burning so intensely into my eyes, it felt as if he was looking straight through to my soul.
Keigo is fragile.
He's a person who feels his emotions very strongly. Stronger than anyone I've ever met. But, since he's never been able to truly express himself around others, it's almost as if his feelings come out twice as intense when he's able to finally let them out. When we're truly alone together. It's almost like it's his sanity's way of coping, to let him know he's still human. To let him know he can, indeed, still feel.
This goes for everything. All of it is elevated to its full maximum when Keigo is completely Keigo. There's no hero commission or public image that forces him to dilute how he feels, so he gives me the most concentrated version of himself that he's able to give. Not intentionally. That's just how it is in the situation that is Keigo's life. His emotions are forced to balance out in an unstable way.
When he laughs, he laughs stronger when we're alone. Same goes for the rest. When he cries, he cries harder. When he thinks, he thinks harder.
These are the sensitive parts of him. The aspects that make up his most vulnerable self.
But...
When I say he's fragile, I mean it in the way that completely Keigo must be nurtured. He's only just learning to find himself. He's only just learning how to let go of Hawks. And the more he's around those he can trust, the more he will be able to let go and be himself. Be human.
But, the same goes for when he's not around those he can trust.
The hero commission did well in turning Keigo into damaged goods, the moment they got their hands on him. Because of this, it's been so difficult for him to break free and be the person he wants to be.
Keigo's a strong minded man. But, he has his weaknesses, just like everyone else. The more time Keigo spends around the hero commission and the villains, the more he will conceal himself, and once again lose sight of who he truly is, and the man he wants to be.
And I never want that to happen to him again.
But, there's no commission at the moment. No villains, either.
No.
Right now, Keigo's feeling it all. His emotions are at their maximum concentration, drinking in every single thing about this moment with a hyper-focus that's so intense...
It has managed to make me completely speechless.
You know why?
Because, Keigo brings out the most concentrated form of myself, as well.
And right now, I was so wrapped up in his moment, that I was at a loss for words as I felt his feelings seeping into my own.
I swallowed thickly, feeling Keigo bring his forehead to rest against mine now.
He gently continued swaying our bodies back and forth in our lazy dance, letting out soft breaths of air against my lips.
His mouth opened softly to speak, making me silent with anticipation for what he would say.
"To answer your question from earlier..." He whispered out breathlessly, snaking his hand up from my back to trace my jaw.
My heart beat picked up at his words, and I wasn't sure why. But, I knew that it was for a good reason. A positive one.
Keeping his eyes on me, Keigo slowly dipped his head to the side, sensually tracing the side of my cheek with his lips.
Goosebumps immediately rose on my skin at the incredibly soft touch of his lips, causing my eyes to become half lidded in a 'Keigo Haze.'
He placed a soft kiss on my cheek, slowly grazing my face with his lips as he made his way to my ear.
I didn't even realize his wings had wrapped around me at some point, until I felt myself being pressed up directly against his body. His presence fully consumed me. I couldn't physically get any closer to him, even if I tried.
A shiver of desire ran down my spine as Keigo's hot breath hit my ear now, his soft words only making my head start to spin.
"To answer your question, you're the only one who really knows me, chicky. It's you. only you. You're the only one for me. The only one I could ever want." He whispered into my ear, causing a small, shaky sigh to fall out of my mouth.
Keigo could probably sense my heart pounding out of my chest with his feathers, but judging by the way he simply started placing slow kisses on my neck, I'm sure he knew it was for him.
"No one knows me the way you do. No one makes me feel amazing and happy the way you do." He uttered softly, causing my heart beat to thud harder against my chest from this strong moment.
Keigo's feathers twitched around me once my heart rate spiked, signaling that he was, in fact, listening to my beats.
Knowing how he was making me feel, he kept talking.
"You're the only one who makes me feel okay to be me. The only one who makes me want to do better. Be better. The most special person in my life. No one else. It's you." He whispered against my skin, gently taking my earlobe between his teeth.
My breath hitched at the feeling, as I snaked my hands into his hair.
A small sound came from Keigo's mouth at my actions, but it was too quiet for me to tell if it was a moan, or actual words.
Keigo's mouth began kissing the spot under my earlobe, before I felt both of his hands come to my upper back.
In the next instant, I felt myself slowly being lowered backwards, realizing Keigo was dipping me back once again.
Only, he didn't dip me very far this time, not being able to break away from the intense moment that was swirling around us.
"I love you." He stated softly against my neck, the unrecognizably gentle tone of his voice making me want to cry.
He used his hands to push my body back against his, needing me as close to him as possible.
"I love you, too." I breathed out barely coherent, feeling Keigo's kisses cease on my neck now.
He didn't waste another second in stating his next words.
He said them just a tad louder against my ear, clearly wanting to make sure I heard him fully this time.
His voice was sure. Full of passion and intimacy. Love and honesty.
But, most of all, I had no doubt in my mind that Keigo meant every word, as I heard him say...
"Then, marry me."
