Stiff Vibes

A/N: Ahhh! Hawks in the new op and ed of mha season 4 has me pumped!! Even from those two short op and ed moments he had, it gave me some new ideas for this story. I am so excited for everyone to see them later on! Okay, enough fangirling. Here's the chap, you beautiful people<3

"I'm uncomfortable." I muttered, looking in the mirror at the incredibly glitzy dress that now adorned my body.

"What? You don't like the dress?" Nejire asked, touching up her makeup in the mirror.

"No, I mean I'm literally uncomfortable. This dress is crushing my internal organs. Oh, but yeah...it's gorgeous!" I laughed, checking out my curves in the mirror.

"Well, of course it's gorgeous! It's designer, after all. Oh-but, of course it's even more gorgeous because you're in it." She reassured, slipping on some jewelry.

I had to say, I felt like a little bit of a celebrity tonight. Nejire and I already had our gowns picked for this event....but apparently, some designer sent over new dresses for us to wear. They were glitzy, they were glammy, and most of all.....they were really, really expensive.

A/N: what I was imagining for Ari's look. Credits to the designer name in the pic. (And of course, red to compliment our "not date" Hawks)

I guess this is the normal life for a pro hero. Not something I'm quite used to, yet.

"Thank, Nejire. You look beautiful tonight. Your date's a lucky man." I smiled, watching her smooth out her gown once more.

"Really?! Thanks, Ari. Tonight is gonna be fun. Plus, Hawks is going to flip out when he sees you in that dress." She smirked, smacking her lips to set her gloss.

"That doesn't matter, because my date is Kamui." I pointed out, spritzing some perfume onto my body.

"Ehhh...details, details." She quickly dismissed, before my phone buzzed.

"Fuck." I blurted out, suddenly feeling my heart racing.

"What?!" Nejire asked in panic.

"He's here. Kamui's here." I groaned, cursing myself for feeling so nervous.

It wasn't good nervous though, like the butterflies I felt around Keigo. No, this was different. I almost didn't want Kamui to show up. He gave me a little bit of an uneasy vibe.

"Well, don't sound so excited." Nejire laughed, before she ushered me out the door.

"Go on, Ari. You look incredible. I'll see you at the dance!" She exclaimed, slamming the door in my face so I wasn't able to retreat back inside.

I stood outside her door for a moment, before I finally decided to man up and go downstairs.

"Okay..." I breathed out, touching myself up one more time.

.......

"Kamui!" I called out, causing him to turn around.

"Ari, hey-Oh, wow..." he blurted out in shock, as his eyes immediately trailed my body.

I chuckled softly, feeling my cheeks heat up at his reaction.

"That's a good 'wow', I hope?" I muttered, walking over to him.

He laughed lightly, grabbing my hand in his.

"Yes. It's a great 'wow'. You look so, incredibly sexy." He purred lowly, snaking his arm around my waist as he opened the passenger door to his expensive sports car.

"Thank you. You look pretty 'wow', yourself." I smiled, gesturing to his midnight black tux.

"Thanks. So, where are we meeting the others?" He asked, starting up his car.

I quickly checked my phone to see Keigo's last text.

"Uh...let me see....ah, Hawks said the fancy restaurant on fourth street." I explained, hearing him scoff lightly.

"Hah, that one? I'd hardly call that place fancy. I bet that Bird was the one who picked the place. When you grow up in the ghetto the way he did, I'm sure anything seems fancy-I mean, he never said exactly where he grew up....but, judging by the way he acts, I'm going to assume it wasn't anywhere special." He retorted, quickly speeding off to the restaurant.

Well, that wasn't very nice, you big tree.

I furrowed my brows at his incredibly rude words towards Keigo, not finding them amusing.

"Guess that doesn't matter anymore though, does it? I mean....you and Hawks probably have the same salary now, wouldn't you say? Actually, since his ranking is better than yours, he probably makes more money than you!" I laughed, purposely keeping my tone playful so I didn't piss him off.

Kamui let out a dry chuckle at my words, keeping his eyes on the road.

"Hah. An intern loyal to her boss, even when he's not here? Damn, Ari. You really are one of a kind. I should have snagged you, when I had the chance." He stated, sliding one of his hands from the wheel to rest on my knee.

Keigo's words suddenly flashed in my head:

"Kamui's not the type to take it slow with women. He'll get what he wants, regardless if they want the same thing. You need to be careful."

I felt my body stiffening up, before quickly forcing the thoughts away.

Get out of my head, you dumbass bird.

"Well, you win some, you lose some." I replied, grabbing his hand in mine to make sure he couldn't slide it any higher up my leg.

.......

Kamui and I pulled up to the restaurant, seeing Kiara waiting outside by herself.

She quickly looked up from her phone upon seeing us, walking over.

"Kamui, darling! You look haute, as always!" She giggled, before turning her attention to me.

"Hi Kiara." I smiled in amusement, watching her judging my look.

"Hello, Aria..." she started off over dramatically.

"Actually, it's just Ari-"

"Loving your look here, babe. It's like a super boho, hobo, chic, homeless sort of thing you have going on. Adorable! I saw a friend of mine wearing that dress one time. She purchased it from the clearance rack at Sears." Kiara giggled, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"Actually, this dress is designer!" I blurted out proudly, immediately regretting my decision to try and match fashion wits with Kiara.

I don't know the first thing about designers. I dress for casual comfort. I couldn't even afford Gucci toilet paper, if I wanted it.

Kiara immediately became interested now, looking over my dress once more.

"Is that so? What designer?" She asked curiously.

I looked at her blankly, as I tried to remember the name of a designer. Any designer.

"Uh....C-Channel." I stated randomly.

"Channel? You mean, Chanel?" She corrected.

"Sure?-Yeah! That one." I said dismissively, seeing Keigo walking up behind Kiara.

"Oh good! You guys are here. I just checked, and our reservation is ready...." He said, trailing off when he finally got eyes on me for the first time.

His mouth dropped open, yet he didn't utter a word, as he studied every part of me intricately....starting with my face, slowly trailing down to my dress, before back up to my face.

"Oh my-wow...." He breathed out, not being able to take his eyes off me. For the first time ever, he didn't know what to say.

"Hey, Keigs." I smiled softly, feeling my cheeks heating up again.

He let out a nervous chuckle, running a hand through his hair slightly. I was waiting for his usual witty, snarky banter to kick in....but it appeared that he had nothing up his sleeve right now.

"H-Hey. You look....very, very pretty tonight." He stated breathlessly, giving me a small nod.

I took in his appearance, also very impressed with the way he cleaned up.

He was wearing a dark, navy blue tux with accents of black outlining certain parts of the jacket. The suit was formal and fitting enough to show his athletic build. The blue contrasted nicely against his deep crimson wings. His hair was still his usual shaggy style, but he clearly decided to comb through it a little. Of course, he still donned those signature black studs in his ears. He looked....really hot.

"Thanks. You don't look too shabby yourself." I whispered kindly, flashing him a small grin.

I felt Kamui quickly snake an arm around me, pulling me close to him.

"Yes, we all look great. Now, can we go inside?" He stated curtly, dragging me past Keigo.

.......

"So, Hawks. Tell me how the business has been going in Kyushu. Not too great if you were only able to nab one intern, huh?" Kamui stated, taking a sip of his wine.

I saw Keigo's lips turn up into a small smirk at Kamui's words. That's the thing about Hawks...he loves to mess with the people who he knows don't like him.

"Quite the opposite, my man. Business is awesome. I don't need a giant, fancy agency, like others do. I'm perfectly content with it just being me and Ari." Keigo lazily smiled, taking another swig of his beer.

"Maybe you could give me a job there too, babe!" Kiara cooed, touching Keigo's shoulder.

He quickly stretched his arms over his head, causing Kiara's hand to slide off him.

"No can do, sweet cheeks. I'm all booked up." He smirked, giving her a cocky wink.

I lightly rolled my eyes, as I watched his hero attitude work in full effect.

"Or maybe Kiara could take Ari's job, and Ari could come work for me as my intern. I didn't know you were looking for a new agency to work for, after Jeanist, Ari....or I would have offered you a spot with me. Hawks swooped in and took you, before anyone else had a chance." Kamui mumbled.

I felt Keigo's eyes on me, clearly curious as to how I would respond to that.

"W-Well, I'm actually quite happy where I'm at right now. I'm thankful to Hawks for taking me on, and I've learned a lot from him. He's a very good mentor." I stated respectfully, holding back a laugh at my formality.

"Thanks, Ari." Keigo smiled, looking proud.

Kamui suddenly leaned in close to my ear, wanting to tell me something secretive.

I saw Keigo furrow his brows at this, not being able to take his eyes off the interaction that was going on between me and Kamui.

"I'm sure you have learned a lot from him. But, you'd learn a lot more from me, you know." He purred into my ear lowly, causing my eyes to widen slightly.

I laughed nervously, a stiff smile forming on my face.

Wow. I really need a better poker face.

"What a kind offer, but I will pass." I stated loudly, chugging my water anxiously.

"Why can't you whisper cute things in my ear like that?" Kiara pouted at Keigo, twirling her wine glass around on the table.

Keigo, being quick on his feet...

"Why whisper them, when I can just tell you loud and proud?" He retorted smoothly, yet still managing to avoid saying anything cute to her.

Kiara giggled, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"Oh, stop it. You're too sweet." She smirked, biting her lip.

"Sweet as sugar, darling. Sweet as sugar." He remarked uninterestedly, finishing up the last of his beer.

.......

"Wow. This is quite the ride." I mumbled in awe, as the black, glossy limo came into view outside the restaurant.

"Hm? This old thing? It's nothing, really. But, you can't show up to one of these things without a limo. So, guess this cheap one will have to do." Kamui muttered, ignoring the chauffeur who was holding the car doors open for us.

"Thank you." I said to him kindly, hearing Keigo do the same.

I sat next to Kamui, with Kiara and Keigo sitting across from us.

As soon as the door closed, Kiara began squealing in excitement, turning on the radio.

"Let's get this party started!!" She exclaimed, pulling something out of her clutch purse.

A flask.

She quickly took a swig from it, handing it over to Keigo.

"Nah. I'll pass." He mumbled boredly, keeping his eyes glued to the window.

"Here, Ari!" Kiara smiled, handing me the flask.

Man, only two glasses of wine and some hard liquor later, and Kiara wants to be my best friend...

"I'm not old enough to drink." I declined politely, watching Kamui take the flask from Kiara.

"I'll take a drink for you, then." He chuckled, taking a swig from the flask.

He handed the flask back to Kiara, before turning his attention to me.

"That drink should help my dancing skills, too." He teased, actually causing me to laugh a little at the joke.

His arm quickly slung over my shoulder, as he pulled me closer.

"Do you want to sit on my lap?" He asked me a little too forwardly.

The question got Keigo's attention, as he snapped his gaze to Kamui in disbelief.

"Nope. No. I am good." I declined tiredly, leaning away from him.

"Actually, I will take some of that." Keigo mumbled to Kiara, taking a long swig from her flask.

Well, this should be an interesting night...
