It had been about five minutes since this fight with this next level Nomu began, and I was already working over time.

Endeavor wasn't being very careful with his fire, causing bits of fire and debris to continue plummeting to the ground at an alarming rate.

Seriously. I know the guy was fighting a Nomu and all, but couldn't he be just a little more careful-

My thoughts were cut off, as I saw a child about to get hit with a piece of flaming concrete. I was already immobilizing three things at once.

"Hey, kid!!" I screamed, diving at him and grabbing him in my arms.

I dove to the side with him, watching the piece of concrete crush the place he was standing in.

"SERIOUSLY ENDEAVOR!? BE MORE CAREFUL, MAN. I CAN ONLY DO THREE AT A TIME!" I exclaimed, quickly releasing more debris in order to get more into my grasp.

I looked up in the sky, seeing Hawks speeding around the Nomu, shooting his feathers at it from multiple directions.

I've been able to catch a couple glances of his fighting skills in the past five minutes, and I couldn't deny my awe for him.

Man, I mean he wasn't a big guy. But, he also wasn't afraid to assert himself right into the danger. He had managed to get all of the people, being carried by his feathers, to the ground safely...while simultaneously fighting this Nomu side by side with Endeavor.

He was kind of amazing-

My eyes widened as Endeavor shot out multiple rays of fire, quickly trying to cut up the Nomu. In the process of doing so, he ended up taking out the entire top half of the evacuated building.

"Endeavor..." I groaned out in frustration.

To my delight, giant pieces of the building began falling to the crowded streets now.

I grit my teeth in anxiety when I saw Hawks lose his flight balance from Endeavor's chaos, starting to plummet towards a nearby roof.

Should I use my quirk on him!?-

No. There were too many debris pieces flying around. I won't use my quirk on Hawks, unless I think he's in immediate danger.

Applying my quirk to other items, my heartbeat pick up as Hawks finally crash landed onto a roof near me. Luckily, he recovered quickly, using the momentum of his tumble to hop back into the air.

"Hey, Endeavor. Uniform pieces. You were supposed to chop the building into uniform pieces. Hellooo, haven't you ever cooked anything before?" I heard Hawks call out to Endeavor, as he almost lost control of his flight again.

He quickly shot more of his feathers out, picking up some of the extra debris slack from Endeavor's mess.

Scared screams immediately filled my ears, as I heard a giant thud a few feet away.

Whipping my head around, I saw two small Nomu about to kill a group of people.

More Nomu!?

These Nomu should be tiny enough for me to take out.

I quickly activated my quirk on the two Nomu, immobilizing them, before slamming them into each other harshly.

"GIRL!!!" The Next Level Nomu screamed at me from the air, seeing I took out his companions.

I tried activating my quirk on him, mentally groaning when nothing happened.

This monster Nomu is too big for me to immobilize. My quirk won't work on him.

He quickly shot his arms towards me, about to beat me into a pulp-

WHOOSH!

I realized I was now flying through the air, being held against someone's chest.

"Hawks!" I exclaimed, wrapping my arms around his neck tightly to keep myself steady.

"Endeavor's making quite the mess up there, so I'm sure you're doing some pretty heavy clean up duty. There's a couple more of those little Nomus. They don't pack too much power, but they are quick. So be careful-" he started telling me, before he jerked to the right side, mid air.

He quickly grabbed my back, holding me tightly against him to make sure he had a good handle on me.

I clung onto him tightly, involuntarily wrapping my legs around his waist to keep myself from slipping out of his grasp.

"Sorry. When I lose too many feathers, I have less control over my flight." He said to me, his stubbled chin tickling the side of my neck.

My heart was beating out of control from the stress of the day, but even with Hawks barely being able to continue flying...

I still felt safe in his arms-

Ack! What the fuck am I saying?! Gross...

"Hey, hey, hey. Did you hear me, Ari?" Hawks asked me quickly, rubbing my back lightly to get my attention.

"What?!" I called out, snapping my attention back to reality.

"I said, I'm gonna set you down right here. I think I'll stick to ground fighting too, since my wings are getting too thin...." he started saying, trailing off as he looked into the sky.

Being so close to his face, I was able to hear the very tiny gasp of immediate panic that slipped from his mouth.

"Endeavor!!!" He yelled out, gently setting me on the ground, before speeding back up to the air without a second thought.

"Hawks, wait!!!" I called in panic, knowing he didn't have enough wing power to fight this monster Nomu.

Worry began coursing through my veins, as I quickly looked around...trying to see if there were any heroes who could get to the air and help Endeavor and Hawks. There was no one.

"Shit, shit, shit." I breathed out shakily, terrified for Hawks as he charged straight at the Nomu. His feathers rapidly began flying off his body, making their way over to Endeavor.

He's giving Endeavor all of his feathers.

Even though the fight was happening in the air, I could still hear Hawks, Endeavor, and the Nomu yelling at each other.

"Let's go, man!! You and me!!" I heard Hawks yell fearlessly from behind the Nomu, trying to get its attention.

He was holding up his last strong feather, going for a slice on the monster's face.

Surely, he knows his feathers aren't strong enough to beat that Nomu. He's using himself as bait so Endeavor can power up.

Hawks, you fucking idiot!!! Are you on a suicide mission, here?!

Endeavor, also realizing Hawks wouldn't be able to last, began speeding forward with a pair of crimson red feathers on his back.

Everyone in the street was silent, heroes included, as they studied the fight in awe....watching Hawks and Endeavor closing in on the Nomu from both sides.

"NO!!!" A girl shrieked, as the Nomu's arm stretched out towards Hawks' chest, appearing to be going for his heart.

Hawks watched the arm coming towards him, not backing down from the fight.

I needed to do something. I couldn't just let him die. I wouldn't sit by and watch fearlessly from the sidelines, like I did when Best Jeanist fought All for One.

No. I would save this time. I will save Hawks.

While my quirk isn't strong enough to immobilize the entirety of the monster Nomu, if I focus all of my power onto one area of its body, I might be able to stop it. Even if just for a split second.

That's what I've been focusing on lately, when training my quirk. Let's see if it works.

I outstretched both of my hands towards the Nomu, focusing solely on its arm that was only seconds away from plunging Hawks in the heart.

I groaned in exhaustion, as my quirk activated strongly...the power of it, making my knees shake slightly.

The Nomu's arm abruptly stopped its path towards Hawks' heart, causing it to grumble in anger.

I'm doing it. I'm stopping the arm.

The Nomu and Hawks immediately shot their eyes at me, causing everyone else to do the same. Instead of the usual half lidded, lazy look that always seemed to grace Hawks' face...right now, he was looking at me in pure shock.

"YOU STUPID GIRL!!" The intelligent, monster Nomu screamed out, shooting his free arm right at me now.

It all happened in a split second.

Don't back down. He still has his other arm pointed at Hawks' heart.

All Hawks could do was watch as the Nomu's arm came right at me. He had no feathers left. No time to get out of the way. He wouldn't be fast enough to reach me in time.

Staying in my spot, I used all of my power to move the Nomu's arm away from Hawks' heart. It began quickly sliding up his body, pointing from his chest, to his throat, to his mouth...to his face-

"ARI!! FORGET ABOUT ME AND GET OUT OF THE WAY!!" Hawks yelled to me from the air, before Endeavor's loud scream quickly drowned out his voice.

Endeavor slammed down, full force into the Nomu's arm that was aiming for me. Luckily, he was able to make the Nomu miss my body. However, I was still too close to the impact zone, causing me to lose my handle on protecting Hawks, and go flying backwards.

"PROTECT YOUR FACE!" I yelled to Hawks, as I flew through the air....watching the Nomu's arm charge straight towards him again, now that my quirk was no longer activated.

While Hawks registered my words, he wasn't able to lift his arms fast enough to cover his face.

The Nomu's arm smacked him in the head, shattering his aviators.

It was a hard hit. But, thanks to the loss of momentum I was able to create from my quirk, it wouldn't be a deadly hit to Hawks.

"Oh shit!" I yelled, crashing through a building window.

Screams of panic were heard around me, as I harshly came flying into the building.

After a few tumbles, my body came to a painful stop, causing a few, weak groans of pain to fall from my mouth. The crash landing wouldn't have actually been that bad.....had I not banged my head into a brick wall.

Get up. Get up, Ari.

I felt my eyes rolling back in my head, as my body refused to move...seeing everything starting to go black.

Hawks, I hope I was able to save you.
