After some mouthwash, a nice long shower, to wash away last night, and a very long nap...I was finally feeling a lot better.
I walked out of Keigo's room, expecting him to be gone.
Instead, I found him laying on the couch, watching some anime on the television.
I have to admit...the sight was a little weird to me. I have never seen that boy relax in the time I've known him. Even though he always pretended to be lazy, he was always somewhere, or doing something. He never stood still. Except for right now.
I walked over, plopping down on the couch next to him.
I was still wearing his Vegas shirt, but Keigo gave me some baggy sweatpants so I'd feel more comfortable. I also felt much better with last night's makeup washed clean from my face.
He lazily looked over at me, stretching his arms over his head.
"How'd you sleep?" He mumbled softly, his own eyes half lidded.
"I slept good. I feel a lot better. You should get some sleep, too." I uttered, throwing my head back against the couch.
He dramatically stretched his legs now...purposely nudging me in the stomach with his foot, to be annoying.
"Listen, I wouldn't go anywhere near my stomach right now...unless you want more chunks." I joked, causing him to chuckle lightly.
"Oh please. You took that hangover like a champ. You didn't even need my mentoring skills." He countered, resting his socked foot on my thigh.
"Speaking of that, I find it funny how even on my day off, I still manage to spend time with you." I said in amusement, absentmindedly placing my hand on his foot.
"It's called friendship, chicky. And it's beautiful." He said, wiggling his foot around in my hand so I'd give him a foot rub.
I lightly glared at him, before starting to rub his foot.
"Only because you took care of me last night." I mumbled begrudgingly, as he kicked his other foot up into my lap.
We were quiet for a while in comfortable silence, before a thought dawned on me.
"Wait. It's my day off, but shouldn't you be at the Hawks Agency today?" I asked, absentmindedly watching the tv.
He shrugged carelessly, starting to flip through the channels again.
"Even the best heroes need a day off, chicky." He smirked, already knowing he sounded like a total douche.
I chuckled lightly, enjoying this lazy, carefree side to him. It was a different kind of carefree attitude than what he displayed to the public. He was obviously more relaxed, and he wasn't trying so hard to act like he doesn't care. He was soft, quiet.
Even so, Keigo has done a lot for me in the past twenty four hours. I don't want to overstay my welcome.
"Yes, yes. You're amazing, Keigo Takami." I stated dramatically, before pushing his feet off of me.
I finally stood up from the couch, stretching my arms over my head.
"Wait, where are you going?" He pouted lightly, causing my heart to melt.
"I'm going home, so you can enjoy the rest of your day off, without me all up in your feathers." I mumbled, grabbing my phone off the counter for the first time.
I saw my text messages had blown up, with texts from Nejire, Mirio, and Tamaki all asking where I was.
Whoops. Sorry friends.
"You don't have to go. Unless you want too." He stated, forcing himself to sit upright on the couch so he could look at me.
I quickly texted my friends back, letting them know I was okay and with Keigo.
"Keigo. Are you sure? You literally see me every single day, except today. I understand if you want some space. You won't hurt my feelings, by asking me to leave." I laughed, wandering into his kitchen to find something to eat.
"Maybe I like seeing you every single day." He retorted with a big cheesy grin, patting the empty couch spot next to him.
I smiled, feeling flattered that he wanted me to stay. Of course, I wanted to stay too...so how could I say no? The answer is, I can't.
"Put on a movie then!" I called out from the kitchen, trying to find something in here that wasn't related to poultry.
"Yaaaay!" He cheered adorably, already looking for movies we could watch.
I'll just watch one movie with Keigo, and be on my way.
.......
"Are you serious!??" Keigo shouted, throwing an egg roll at the screen.
"Who ends a movie like that!??" I shouted back, shaking my head frustratedly at the ending of the fourth movie we just watched.
"I don't know, but man does it piss me off!" He laughed, placing his takeout box on the glass coffee table.
I set my own takeout down, quickly looking over at my phone that was currently ringing.
I didn't recognize the number.
"Turn it down." I mumbled to Keigo, gesturing to the loud television in the background.
"Who's calling?" He asked, muting the tv.
I shrugged my shoulders in confusion, before swiping my phone to answer.
"Hello?"
"Babe!! So good to run into you again." A girl's voice exclaimed from the other side of the line. My shoulders slumped, as I immediately realized who it was. I recognized that shrill, nasally voice anywhere.
"Hi....Kiara." I mumbled unenthusiastically, causing Keigo to whip his head around at me in shock.
He titled his head in question, clearly not understanding.
"Why is she calling you?" He hissed out, causing me to wave my hand around at him in response.
"I'm really good! Thanks so much for asking. So anywho....I haven't been able to get ahold of my boyfriend today. Do you happen to know where he is by chance?" She stated, my heart clenching at the word 'boyfriend.'
Being able to here my conversation through the phone, Keigo began silently telling me what to say.
"Uh....n-no. He's...going for a.....run?-ah, I mean a flight! He's going for a flight....very....very.....bye? Oh! Far away! He's going for a flight, very far away." I explained choppily, trying to make sense of Keigo's stupid hand gestures.
"Ugh. Sounds like him. Don't ever get a boyfriend, Ari. They are the worst sometimes. But, I'm sure you'll have no problem staying single, so don't worry." She reassured, causing me to furrow my brows in confusion. It sounded like she was actually trying to reassure me, but unknowingly ended up giving me an insult.
"Wow, um....thanks, Kiara." I stated deflatedly, waiting for her to stop talking to me.
"Well, I'm sure you'll see him tomorrow and when you do, tell him I have his watch. Apparently, it slipped off his wrist at the bar, last night. So, I'll give it back to him later." She explained nonchalantly.
"Sure. I will tell him." I sighed, even though Keigo could hear every word.
"Awesomeness. Oh! And one more thing. My mother has another assignment for him, and apparently he hasn't answered his phone for anyone today. Not just me. So, tell him tomorrow to give her a call immediately." Kiara said, actually sounding pretty civil with me.
Of course, something else about those words caught my attention.
"Your mother? Keigo-I mean, Hawks works for your mother?" I asked curiously, watching him let out a deep breath of doom. It seemed like he already knew where this was going.
"Yeah. You work for her too, dummy. Diane Himura. Duh." Kiara said cluelessly, as my jaw dropped to the floor.
"H-Himura. You're....Diane's daughter...? I-I didn't know she had a daughter." I said in shock, watching Keigo run a hand through his hair.
"Yeah. She doesn't talk about me much. My quirk wasn't strong enough for her-anyway, that's not important. Just tell Keigo this stuff, okay?" She said impatiently, clearly getting sick of talking to me.
"S-Sure." I uttered out, before she hung up the phone.
I tossed my phone on the couch, turning my eyes on Keigo, who wasn't speaking a word.
I patiently waited for him to speak up and explain, realizing he wouldn't.
"You're dating Diane's daughter?" I asked lowly, scoffing at him in disbelief.
He let out an uneasy sigh, running a hand through his hair.
"I'm not dating her. I told you....I just went out with her as a favor-"
"Yeah! But you didn't say that favor was for Diane. I mean, we both have a relationship to her, so I figured you'd say that part. Not to mention, Kiara keeps calling you her boyfriend. What was the favor for anyways, Keigo?" I asked, starting to get slightly annoyed with him.
He rolled his eyes, simply shrugging his shoulders.
"It's just a favor for everything she's done for me." He replied curtly, not elaborating on the topic any further.
I'm not his girlfriend. He doesn't owe me an explanation.
But the fact that Kiara isn't just some random girl, has apparently triggered this reaction from me. Plus, I'm not sure why he didn't just tell me she was Diane's daughter. It's like he didn't want me to know. With the way Keigo talked about her, Kiara wasn't important. She was just some random hero's daughter, or something like that, who wanted to be set up with a famous hero. Any hero.
But, Diane....she's close to Keigo. Not in a kind way, but she's been with him for awhile, the same way she has for me.
And Kiara isn't just some random girl. Kiara is the boss's daughter. The very powerful boss's daughter. And this "favor" he's doing by dating her, is a lot more serious than I thought. This isn't just some one time blind date we're talking about. Diane wouldn't stand for that.
No. When Diane wants something from someone, she makes it happen.
"Okay. It's just a favor. And how far were you planning to take this favor exactly?" I asked calmly, not being able to stop myself from prying more.
"I don't know. It won't be going any further than it is right now. She'll lose interest in me at some point." He countered, before I abruptly stood up from the couch.
"She'll lose interest at some point? So, you're just giving her the power to control this relationship how she wants? If she controls how long this goes on for, she'll definitely control how far you go, too." I reprimanded, going to put our dirty plates in the sink.
Keigo got up, too...following me over to the kitchen.
"Look, chicky. You're making this a way bigger deal than it actually is. I don't see what the problem is." He shrugged, leaning against the wall.
His careless tone of voice began pissing me off, as I scoffed at his answer.
"Oh cut the shit, birdie boy. You're a smart guy. I know you see what's going on here." I mumbled, leaning over the counter.
He threw his head back against the wall. I could tell I was starting to push his buttons. That's how he was when it came to his personal life. He didn't like to talk about it. I'm guessing it was dark for him, and that there were triggering points he didn't want to remember. That's how Diane made it seem awhile back, when she visited the Hawks Agency. But, Keigo doesn't like talking about any aspect of his personal life. He especially gets weird when we talk about relationship stuff like this.
"Nope. I really don't know what's going on. Feel free to enlighten me, since you seem to know everything." He retorted...his tone was relaxed, but it still held some passive aggression.
"Okay, so you don't like the girl. Or, so you say. You share a few kisses with her every now and then, before she pushes you for more. Thinking a little more won't kill you, you give it to her. Then, she'll just keep requesting for more and more, until she has you wrapped around her little finger." I explained, crossing my arms at him in annoyance.
I know. This shouldn't matter.
But, I guess some part of me is afraid that Keigo will fall for Kiara. This scares me, because then....I no longer have a chance with him.
I know I never had a chance before. Yes, I should be over him. Yes, I'm still pining over him when I shouldn't be. But, I can't tell him that so of course, I'm probably lashing out my feelings in the wrong way.
It's starting to dawn on me that if Keigo is letting Kiara take control of this situation, maybe he actually likes the attention. And that hurts me a little.
Keigo simply scoffed, dismissing my words as he grabbed a glass from his cupboard.
"No way. You're reading way too far into this. Kiara isn't that smart or manipulative. She's just a tease, who wants attention." He muttered, pouring himself some water.
"Heh. Yeah, she's not the only one." I blurted out, causing Keigo to turn around quickly.
Whoopsie daisy! Didn't mean to say that.
"Oh yeah? What the hell is that supposed to mean?" He retorted, his brows furrowed together in visible annoyance now.
I realize I may have just sparked a slight fight, especially since Keigo and I were both getting more irritated with each other, as this conversation went on.
Oh well. Time to pour more fuel into the fire.
