chapter three

Painted Faces and Busy Places

"Why are you up so early?" Michael asked Jasmine as she pulled her hair into a ponytail. "It's not even ten yet."

"People are coming to meet up with me in an hour Michael." Jasmine said, pulling a denim jacket over her black and white flannel. "If I were you or the band, I'd do the same."

"Do you want me to wake them up?" He asked as she looked in the mirror. She nodded and he stood up. "First I need pants."

Jasmine rolled her eyes and then pulled the necklace hidden behind her black t-shirt out. It was a black cord, a simple clear crystal on the end. Only it wasn't as simple as it looked.

It ran blue if an angel was nearby, red if a demon, purple if a hunter. If combined, it was black, and you'd have to figure out what combination of the three it was, which was always so much fun. Her father gave it to her before he died. It was crafted by his grandmother, who was a proud witch.

She smiled in the mirror a bit, her thin pink lips curling upwards as she looked over her outfit. Black jeans clung to her legs, steel toed boots on her feet, and a knife may or may not be hidden under her semi loose black shirt.

She took her black face paint, wiping a single, thin streak on her right cheek. The single mark made her feel free, as if part of her was hidden, the humane part. It looked crazy, lord knows it did, but if it helped her hunt then she would do it.

It was almost as if that single black mark sucked every inch if her humanity in, leaving her a cold blooded hunter. Revenge tasted sweet, but the guilt behind it was bitter, and this prevented the guilt from arising.

"You have something on your face." Michael said when he came back and she nodded as her phone rang. She picked it up and then leaned against a wall, looking down as Michael began to change.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Hey Jasmine, we're in New York. What hotel?" Sam asked and she looked at Michael.

"Hampton Inn?" She asked the bleach blonde and Michael nodded, a vintage rock n roll tee slipping over his torso. "Hampton Inn Sam."

"Alright, we're on our way." He said and she hummed. "Hey uh, mind having coffee-"

"Whiskey-"

"There's a shop not too far from the hotel, we'll stop by there and talk. All of us." Jasmine said and he thanked her. "Dean, you're not drinking now, it's not even noon."

"Whatever. Fine. Buy coffee." He said and she chuckled as Michael glanced at her with confusion clouding his features.

"Who are you talking to?" He asked and she crossed her arms, her shoulder holding the phone to against her ear.

"Friends, they'll be meeting us soon." She told him and he nodded. "I'm gonna go. I have to wake up others. Try not to get lost."

"Alright, bye." Sam said with a light laugh and she hung up. She put her phone in the back pocket of her jeans and gave Michael a smile.

"Let's go check on the others." She said and he nodded as he finished lacing up his boots. "Don't you need something before we leave?"

"Right! My phone and wallet!" He said and grabbed them. He tried to slip them into his pockets, only to turn red with embarrassment. "Pants. I need pants."

"Yeah you do." She said and he fell on to the bed, immediately taking his shoes off as she laughed.

-

"What happened to your bike?" Sam asked Jasmine as she crossed her legs, taking a drink of her mug of coffee as the six boys scarfed down a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast.

"Sold it to buy my baby." She said and Dean pointed a finger at her. "It's no 1967' Chevy Impala, but it's mine and I'm in love with it."

"What kind of car is it?" Dean asked, a mouth full of food. She rolled her eyes at his lack of manners, but then remembered the guy lived off of junk food, booze, coffee, and crappy motels, all so he can save the world, especially his brother, so she cut him some slack.

"You'll ve surprised, it's a Ford Mustang, same year as your's, 1967." She said and Dean nodded. "Painted black, like my soul."

"Like the Rolling Stones' song." Ashton said and Jasmine chuckled as she nodded. Michael and Calum broke out into the song, Sam and Dean staring as if they were mentally fucked.

But it didn't take long for Dean to laugh and nod. "Alright, alright we get it. You like the Stones." He said and Jasmine nodded.

"Dean listens to the same seven rock n roll albums on repeat all the time." Sam said and laughed as Jasmine agreed.

"Rock n roll for life Sammy. It's a lifestyle." Dean cut in and Michael nodded. "So, about Madison Square." He said and looked at Jasmine.

"Right," she said and nodded. "A total bust. In the middle of the concert their tech was malfunctioning one by one, then all the lights just broke. No ones phones worked. The only things that worked were flashlights from officers, who weren't in the building when it all went down."

"Like I told Sam, maybe your equiptment was bad." Dean said and Michael shook his head.

"No, I-I saw something." Michael said and they looked at him. "I did! In the dressing room, we were doing a video for Snapchat and I saw a shadow, but no one was there." He told them, hoping he didn't sound absolutely crazy.

He didn't even give anyone time to reply before he was babbling again.

"I'm crazy I know, but I saw it. Ashton said it was nothing, that it was maybe Calum's shadow, but it wasn't. I don't know. It was weird. I got all cold and shivering after and an eerie feeling on stage. I can't explain it. I don't think it was just a shadow." He said and Sam nodded.

"Like-Like someone is watching you?" Same asked and Michael nodded. "We'll check it out."

"What? You think some kinda ghost did this? They don't even exist." Luke said and Calum shook him quickly, gaining weird looks from neighboring tables.

"I told you that ghosts exist! I'm not crazy!"

"Calum," Jasmine snapped as people began to whispered about the young rocker. "Calm down." She said and Calum nodded as Michael took a deep breath.

"Look, even if it was a ghost, how the hell are you supposed to catch a damn ghost? Ghostbusters isn't real." Ashton said quietly and looked at everyone. "I doubt you can suck them into vacuums."

"No, but trust us alright?" Dean said and Ashton looked at Jasmine skeptically. "Look kid, we know what's going. Let us handle this."

"Cause you've delt with ghosts." Ashton said and Jasmine chuckled. "What's next? Have you met Jacob? Edward?" He asked and Dean gave a sarcastic laugh.

"Yes, seen a nest, took them all out-"

"You mean I did." Jasnine said, giving him him a cocky smile and he rolled his eyes. "I saved your ass Winchester. Death would have grabbed you by the balls and never let you go if I didn't step in."

"Can't say she's wrong." Sam said and Dean shook his head.

"Shut up Jasmine, shut up Sammy." Dean said and Jasmine yawned as she knocked her head to the side, leaning back on to a wall.

"So uh..." Sam started, looking at Michael with confusion. Michael caught on and nodded.

"Michael."

"So uh Michael," Sam said as Calum and Jasmine talked quietly since they were side by side. "What exactly did you see?"

"It was just a shadow like thing, I can't explain it really. It was like a person's shadow, only a person wasn't there." Michael said and Sam nodded.

"Is this the first time you've ever seen something out of the blue or whatever?" He asked and Michael tapped his fingers on his mug. Unlike the others, he couldn't drink coffee, seeing as he relied too much on the caffeine induced drink, so he had a cup of hot chocolate to keep him awake.

"Yeah, it was freaky." Michael said and Dean asked if he saw the same thing on stage. "It was kinda dark on stage, the lights only do so much. I uh, I don't think I did." He stammered under Dean's hard gaze.

"What do you mean you don't think you did? Either you did or you didn't."

"Can't expect the boy to remember, he was playing the biggest show of all time, the stage every artists wishes to sell out; Madison Square Garden. Dean..." Jasmine said and he nodded. "It's alright Mikey."

"Who are you guys anyways?" Luke asked and looked at Jasmine. "I don't think it's in our agreement that we allow other people, complete strangers to us, to know so much behind doors." Luke told her.

"I signed a contract, yes, but nowhere in the contract stated I could not have mates of mine help me if necessary." Jasmine said and Calum nodded. "Sam and Dean are-"

"FBI agents-"

"Cut the shit, you're hunters." Jasmine said and Sam chuckled as Dean huffed. "They seek out what you guys know was monsters and mythological creatures and kill them. Trust me, you do not want to cross the wrong line with them."

"I heard of... of hunters but I didn't think they existed." Calum said quietly as he swished his coffee around. "You guys kill like vampires and demons and stuff. My friend told me about them but I called him crazy."

"Guess you're crazy for not believing him." Dean said and Calum nodded. "We exist. We're very much real."

"We can see that." Luke said and Jasmine chuckled as his sassy attitude. "Why are you hunters?"

"Our d-"

"Not important." Sam said as he looked at Dean. The two shared some unspoken conversation and Sam tore his gaze away from his brother's. "We'll help look into it."

"Thank you." Michael said and Dean just nodded as Jasmine saw paparazzi sit outside the café, awaiting the band's departure from the small shop.
