Afni was staring at the beautiful surrounding they had arrived in when the car had come to a screeching stop.

She watched as he switched off the car and unlocked it before stepping out. She followed suit as well.

They shut the door simultaneously as if on instinct and that's when she stopped to really look at him.

He was wearing a three piece grey suit that looked really expensive. He wore a grey tie and a white shirt with black dress shoes to go along.

He looked really handsome. Only when she realized what she was doing did she duck her head in shame.

He started walking in the direction of the huge mosque doors and she trotted along.

He opened the doors and strolled into the lavishly decorated mosque and walked towards the secluded section.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
An hour later, there she was, sitting in the car with her forceful husband. Then to take you back a few minutes ago,

"Assalamu alaykum Mr. Adnan,"

Afni heard someone say from behind the barrier and she instantly recognized the voice of the devil.

"Wa alaykumus salamu Wa rahmatullahi Wa barakatuhu. Kaifa haaluka, akhi(How are you, my brother)?"

A man probably the same age as Almir or even older queried as they shook hands.

"Ana bi khairin Wal hamdu lillah(I am good, all thanks to Allah)!"

He exclaimed and pulled the other green eyed man into his embrace as they did that man hug thing while Afni stood behind the barrier, a curtain watching them.

"What brings you here today? Did you get into a fight? And who is that lady i can see behind the curtain. Don't tell me you got married without telling your bestest friend in the world!"

He feigned hurt and Almir glared at him.

"I don't know what brought me here. Perhaps your appointment book will tell you what I am doing here."

He answered through gritted teeth. He hated everything scantily and liked order. And he was angry because Adnan knew that clearly.

"What?! How dare you talk to a qazi like that?"

He answered playfully but almir just growled at him and he scurried off but not before winking to probably look for that appointment book of his.

A few minutes later, he appeared with a pair of rectangular reading glasses resting on his face which made him look like an old man.

"Did you see it or not?"

Almir asked, irritated at his childish friend.

"Haha, so turns out you were right. You came to get married, and you booked your appointment a few weeks back."

He answered and stuck out his tongue. But Afni was confused. He had said weeks when clearly it was days since they arranged the agreement. She wondered if she had misheard him though.

"Put the thing back in your mouth before I cut it off and get your ass into that court room and get me married right now!"

Almir gritted out and his friend laughed. He hated waiting too. It got on his nerves and sometimes Adnan's behaviour was a contributing factor.

"What? You didn't even introduce me to the lady you were getting married to. How rude of you."

He exclaimed and turned to Afni who almost shrunk from behind the curtain.

"She has a mouth and so do you."

He rolled his eyes and whispered under his breath how impatient he was.

"Hi, I am Adnan kazim. The friend of the devil over there and a high judge. Don't mind the idiot, I'm waaaay older than him but he treats me like a child."

He introduced and it earned him a chuckle from her but Almir just crossed his arms and turned his face away while muttering that he was just nine years older than him.

"Hello, I am Afni Imran, soon to be wife of the devil over there and a college student."

She answered in the same manner as Adnan and then received a glare from the afformentioned devil.

Adnan led them to a small private room and sat down in his chair with his assistant by his side.

Blah blah blah long story short when they got to her turn to give her approval, well there was a little bit of hesitation. Well a lot of hesitation.

"-Afni Imran, do you agree to take Almir Akhdan as your lawfully wedded husband in this room before your Lord---?"

He asked in a serious tone and she suddenly froze.

The doubts had started again. Her heart was telling her to say no but her head was telling her to say yes. She wanted to follow her heart like she always did. She wanted to follow her heart and ignore her head.

She stared at her palms intensely until almost 7 minutes had passed and she hadn't given an answer.

He asked again. She kept on opening and closing her mouth like a goldfish and she thanked God that her mouth was hidden behind her veil so they couldn't see the action.

She was close to tears. She knew she seemed like a crybaby but then again she was certain that anyone in her situation will probably feel the same way she did.

"Na'am, I do."

I finally answered with a quivering voice and shakey hands. The hesitation was obvious but nobody said a word at all.

The judge asked Afni the same question two more times and she answered with a positive, each time her voice getting louder and clearer than before.

He turned to Almir and repeated the same thing he had asked Afni but the man in question answered immediately with a yes.

Adnan gave them a document to sign and Afni picked up the pen and wrote her name neatly on the spot before handing it to Almir so he could do the same.

"By the name of Allah and the power bestowed upon me by this mosque, I know pronounce you man and wife."

He said some duas but Afni only caught the last one as she had zoned out. Almir looked at her from the corner of his eyes and could see how distracted she was.

"-barakal laahu laka, wa Baraka 'alayka, wa jama'a bayanakumaa fee khayrin(May Allah bless you, and shower his blessings upon you, and join you together in goodness)."

Adnan prayed for the newly weds and they both answered simultaneously with an amin.

Adnan packed up his stuff and walked over to them.

"Congratulations to you two. May you always be happy."

He smiled with his super white teeth on display and walked away.

The two also walked away in silence to the car. Her husband's car to be precise. It felt weird to call him her husband. She had a hard time believing that she was married.

She turned to look at him to see that he was staring and she suddenly felt self conscious. A million things were running through his head, each about the mysterious woman who stood beside him as his wife.

When they made eye contact, his eyes turned ice cold. He turned away and then he opened his door and sat down.

She too opened her door and sat down but that time, in the passenger seat and Almir made no rude remarks about it.

"Allaahumma innee 'as'aluka khayraha wa khayramaa jabaltahaa 'alayhi wa a'oothubika min sharrihaa wa sharri maa jabaltahaa 'alayhi(Oh Allah, I ask You for the goodness of and the goodness upon which You have created her, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of her and from the evil upon which You have created her)."

He recited softly not intending for her to hear but she still did. She smiled despite herself upon hearing him accept her as his wife.

"What are you staring at?"

He snapped when he saw her looking at him and she flinched at the tone he had used and turned away.

"Nothing."

That was how her life story had began, with her marrying the arrogant billionaire forcefully yet willingly.

Well only 365 days left, yay! Note the sarcasm. She knew he had to feel the same way but maybe -just maybe- he felt different about her as his wife.

First, I'm sorry if that's not how a court marriage works but then again, I'm just a teenager.

I added a new character to the book. Did you like him? If you did, drop a comment and a vote.
