The Angel
IT was bad to be Seattle in the summer, not bad honestly, if you were used to the heat that is. Felix knew all about heat. He was currently in the best club Seattle had to offer. Lucifer's. It was an all-race accepting club. Seriously, it was rare these days. Seriously, a place where Demons, Phoenixes, half-angels, and other monsters to just relax and have fun. Ben was just at the bar at the moment after getting kicked off the Poker tables. He couldn't help it if he was good at reading people. So he'd cashed in his winnings, and gone straight to the bar. Even though Felix was only twenty, he drank excessively, and not anything light. Why? Because it was very difficult for him to get drunk.
Why, was a simple, yet slightly complex story. Phoenix was a Half-angel. His mother had been The Angel Hannah. Had being the key word. And with being an angel came an immunity to getting dunk. You could feel a definite buzz, but that was all. And Felix could hold his liquor. So spending roughly three hundred dollars on whiskey, he waited for a minute, and felt a slight buzz, but nothing. "Stupid, immunity." He grumbled making his way to a small booth, and ordering dinner.
Felix looked around the bar. There were two vampires drinking each other's blood. One male one female, both of them with black, hair pasty skin, and scarlet colored eyes. Who gave Felix an angry look when they saw Felix look around uncomfortably. There were a few shape shifters moving around through the crowd, who either weren't who they said they were, or a man. Or you could get the occasional one who was telling the truth. But that was rare, unfortunately, they could make themselves look so damn good.
Then there were the werewolves, who let themselves go when they were in the club, keeping up a normal persona was hard for them especially on the full moon. It wasn't very attractive, but this was the only place where they could let their hair down. So Felix didn't have a huge problem. Then there were the half-angles. They were the most popular customers here. There are so many of us, and we need somewhere to just be us. We all look human, normally, unless one of our parents is something like a werewolf or something.
Though being a Half-angel was dangerous here. Especially for Felix. The club was run by Devils, and its owner was Lucifer himself. No joke, Lucifer the king of hell allowed half- angles into his club. Why? Because despite how the bible depicts the guy, he's not actually that bad. He shows up every now and again to play the piano, entertain his guests like a good host should, and buy everyone in the club a drink. Felix didn't know if it was an act, but honestly he didn't care. Just that he was in a nice club, with beautiful girls, great people, and who were actually like him.
As Felix sat there waiting for the event he'd come for, the whole club fell silent. Now that rarely happened. Everyone had stooped to look at a figure that had just stepped in through the front door. Felix was curious to see who it was, but a sea of heads was blocking his view. "As you were everyone." A strong and confident female voice called out. And just like that everyone went back to what they were doing. Felix was honestly confused, that never happened, not even when Lucifer himself showed up. But as intrigued as he was, he still needed his dinner, and then prepare for his gig.
But his thoughts were interrupted by someone clearing their throat. Felix looked up and nearly jumped. There was a woman standing in front of him, and she was put simply beautiful. She wore a black silk dress which ended ten centimeters above her ankles, long raven colored hair, black eyes that had small white particles scattered all over. They were quite mesmerizing. That and also she was slightly top heavy. She also had pale skin, perfect teeth, and a seductive smile.
Felix quickly composed himself, not wanting her to think he was drooling over her. Which he would have had he not had some decency. "Are you expecting anyone?" She asked. Felix raised his eyebrows, it was the woman who had just stopped the show earlier. "No, I'm just waiting for the main event." He smiled, ushering her to sit down. Smiling the woman sat down, and ordered a lobster dish with salad. "Are you a regular here?" She asked her eyes looking him up and down. Felix thought for a moment, and smiled. "As regular as I can be, but if your around maybe I'll come around more often." He smiled, waiting to see her reaction.
Instead of what most girls did which was just sigh. The woman simply smiled and immediately shot back. "Well, then I promise to make a few more appearances." Felix was taken aback. Finally, a girl who knew how to joke around, with him anyway. "I hope so." He grinned as he saw two meals making their way towards them. His salmon, and her lobster. As they began into their meals, Felix couldn't help but ask. "You must be a pretty big deal to halt up this club, mind me asking who you are?" He said slowly taking a bite of salmon. "Well, ok, my name is Ivy Blue." She said slowly. Felix wanted to run, and run fast.
Ivy Blue was Lucifer's daughter, so if you upset her, you were in deep shit. Felix's fear was clearly evident. But Ivy simply chuckled and took a bite from her meal. "Don't worry, I'm not as bad as the rumors state." She giggled. "Well, the fighting skills are true, but everything about my bad attitude is slander." She said flashing Felix a sly smile. Felix still wanted to run, but he stood still, she was right, of all the rumors he'd heard, none of them described her like this.
A few seconds later he was back. "Well the rumors about how you look certainly don't do you justice." Felix chuckled slowly finishing his meal. "Oh, and what are those rumors." She grinned, leaning forward on her shoulders. "I dunno, will I get in trouble?" "That's up for me to decide." She smiled, biting her lip slightly. "Then, I'll save that for another time." Felix smiled heading towards the dance floor.
She suddenly just appeared in front of Felix. "Where are you off too handsome." She smiled placing a hand on Felix's shoulder. Various people had stopped to take a look. But Felix just smiled, and slowly removed her hand. "I have an event to prepare for." He said motioning to the two thick black metal Gauntlets he had over his hands Ivy looked surprised. "You're a fighter?" she said in disbelief. "Oh honey, I'm not just a fighter, I'm the main attraction." He said making his way to the center of the dance floor where it slowly began to sink. And soon he was in a twenty by four-meter pit, which was slowly filling up with demons of varied sizes, at the other end. When he saw his completion, Felix was fairly disappointed. Two hell knights, six possessed, three Imps, and a Siren.
Sighing Felix shook his wrists up and down, feeling his bracelets grow and bend over his fore arms. Until there were thick metal gauntlets, covering his forearms, and they had all kinds of goodies. The Possessed were up first. They were zombie like creatures with a taste for blood, particularly angel blood. But they were painfully slow, and Felix decided to end them while having some fun. Walking forward Felix grabbed one by the arm, ripped it off, and crushed his head with it. Then he split another's head open with his hands. Though the gauntlets did provide him with some strength. For the rest he just practiced the gauntlets secret weapons. Both had a spring loaded blade just under his wrist, which could flick out at the flick of his wrist. He simply tackled two to the ground and placing his hands to their throats, flicked his wrists back.
For the other two, he grabbed two small darts from a pouch he held on his belt, and hit both demons in the eyes, killing them instantly. Then came the Imps. They were monkey like in shape, had long talons, could throw fire balls, had giant mandibles for mouths, and had red leathery skin. They charged throwing fireballs at Felix from a distance. But Felix let them hit him, feeling his strength grow. "Thanks for the top up boys." Felix yelled charging in, tearing them apart one by one, each of them wailing in horror as he did so. The last one he simply flicked his wrist back, and large caliber sleeve pistol shot out, and Felix made a golf ball sized hole in the creature's head. The gauntlets had been one hell of a purchase, but it had been so worth it.
Next were the Knights. They were basically bigger imps, with amour, a sword, and a shield. Felix simply ran forward, and started punching the shields with his gauntlets. And slowly, little by little, they began to break, and then shatter. And one that was done, Felix stabbed one in the throat, and shot the other six times in the chest. The crowd roared with approval, he was the crowd favorite, as of a few months ago. He'd taken on more, but he still managed to make it look good. Felix heard the Siren before he saw it. It sang a soothing melody, which was how it caught most of its victims. The sweet song would have entranced any human. But Felix wasn't human, not even close.
Sirens at first looked like beautiful women in white dresses. But as soon as you angered them, or were in range of their claws. They would change from beautiful woman, to a skin and bone old crone, with missing bits of skin, and razor sharp claws, and a good set of lungs. Because damn those things could scream. And that's exactly what happened. As soon as the Siren was within two meters of him, she changed, and was no longer attractive. Felix immediately ducked under the first strike, but immediately felt a second pair slice into his shoulder. Right, they could also move extremely fast.
Felix was struggling now. Both his shoulders were now shredded, the Siren was playing for keeps, and the crowd was getting restless. But there was nothing he could do. Well, not without showing everyone what he was. But it was going to be that or die so not much of a choice. The siren was standing over him, its claws laced with Felix's blood. "Silly Angel." The siren tutted. Slashing him over and over. His chest was ribbons, and his heart was exposed. This wasn't looking good. Slowly the siren turned into its beauty form. Oh that was low. "So, my dear angel, any last words?" The said raising their hand in the air.
Above Felix saw Ivy. There was a look of concern on her face. It was look he had received often, from Ziva. Felix closed his eyes, and waited for the final blow. He thought back. Too five months ago. "Is it dangerous?" Ziva asked. "Hmm?" "Your job, is it dangerous?" She asked, looking Felix directly in the eyes. Felix just smiled. "Would it pay so nice if it wasn't?" He chuckled. Ziva looked at him exasperated. "Jesus Felix, you could get hurt, or worse." She said her eyes full of worry. "Ziva, think about it, all I only have to fight twice a week, then were set." He said gently, holding her close. She finally smiled and gave in. "Ok, fine, but no more than six months, and don't you dare die, promise me?"
Promise me, those two words were burned into his mind, giving him strength, and power. Felix saw the blow flying towards him, but he had other plans. "No." He yelled, holding his left gauntlet up in front of his throat. He knew what this was going to do. He would reveal who he was to everyone in the club. But he didn't care. The Sirens claws raked across the gauntlets straps, cutting it clean off. And revealed what was underneath it.
From the elbow down. Felix's left arm had a red rock like amour surrounding it, with red and blue glowing lines, each of the fingers were clawed, and was harder than reinforced steel. There was a collective gasp from the crowd. "No way." "He's a hand." "I thought it was just a legend." "Why is he here?" There were hundreds of questions flying around the club. But he didn't care. All that mattered, was seeing her again.
Clenching his Left fist tightly, Felix felt energy flow through him. And his wounds on his chest, and shoulders, instantly closed. And reaching out, the siren began to tremble. "No, no please." It screamed. Reaching out with his power Felix felt the Sirens soul. It was broken and fragile, just a tap away from shattering. Felix used his Left arm to navigate his way to it, and grasping it firmly, crushed it. The siren wailed, drowsily floated around, and then flopped to the floor. The entire crowed went silent. Even Ivy, who earlier had looked at him with admiration looked shocked.
But that was the burden of being a Demon hand, you just had to live with that. So Grabbing his ruined gauntlet, Felix collected his winnings and left. Sixty thousand dollars, and he'd nearly died, and his secret was revealed at the most popular nightclub among his kind. Yeah, he so wasn't paid enough for this gig. He hated his arm, it was the reason he had to hide, even from his own kind, not just everyday people, it was a fate worse than death.
