Chapter IV: Sorry, He's Shy

𝚃𝚑𝚒𝚛𝚍 𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗 𝙿𝙾𝚅

"Hello, how may I help you?" Chiharu chirps to the three men that just entered the agency. The large one smiles, walking over.

"Hi, we need to see the head detective. Agent (L/N)?" He asks.

"Do you have an appointment?" The girl asks.

"No, but it's urgent, we think we have a lead on the Blue Ridge Killer?" The male asks more to himself than anything. The girl's eyes widen.

"I'll get you in right away." She says, picking up the receiver, and waiting for (Y/N) to answer.

They had a short conversation, but the men couldn't hear what the detective was saying.

"She's ready for you. Last door on the left." She told them, pointing down a hall way. The large man smiles wide, saying thank you. The one with green hair smiled and nodded in thanks, while the navy haired one kept his head down.

When they entered the office, they saw a tall woman with (h/l) (h/c) hair, that bounced when she turned to greet them. She was dressed formally, suit and tie.

"Hello, I'm Agent (L/N), who am I speaking with?" She asks, holding out her hand.

"I'm Mirio Togata!" The large one says, seizing the agents hand.

"I'm Midoriya Izuku." The green-ette tells her, smiling kindly, and shaking her hand gently. She looked at his eyes, thinking about how they looked oddly familiar.

When the navy haired man stays silent, shifting on his feet, Mirio places his hand on his shoulder, making the man flinch.

"You can do it, she won't hurt you," he comforts the man. "Just lift your head a bit, say your name and shake her hand. That's it." The man lifts his head slightly, so the woman could see his eyes.

"I-I'm Amajiki T-Tamaki." He stammers, slowly raising his hand.

"You're scared stiff. You don't like talking to people, much less touching them. You don't have to shake my hand if you don't want to, honey. I didn't want to make you uncomfortable." The woman says softly. Amajiki blushes harshly, putting his hand out.

"I'm t-trying to socialize m-more," he explains. The woman smiles, shaking his hand slowly.

When their hands drop, she looks at them all again. "So I believe you had evidence for me?"

"Yes we do!" Mirio exclaims, making Amajiki flinch again. "Sorry buddy."

Midoriya's reaches into his back pocket, pulling out a large yellow envelope.

"Dear Mirio, Amajiki and Midoriya, I know you. Take this to Agent (L/N). Do not open without her. It's about the Blue Ridge killer." The agent reads off of the envelope.

"Well men, someone wanted us to meet and went to great lengths to make sure we did. There's no address, so obviously it was dropped off, not mailed. Where did you find it?" She asks, looking from man to man.

"It was slipped in through my mail drop at work," Midoriya explained.

"Well, let's open it then." She carefully pulled the prongs towards each other, and slipped the flap up. She took a careful look inside, and then took everything out. "At least there wasn't a bomb."

"I'm sorry?" Midoriya asks.

"I can't tell you how many times I've opened an envelope with quote un-quote 'evidence' that contained a bomb." She explained, making the men's eyes widen. She sifted through the papers, seeing documents and police reports, and mugshots. All of one person. She picked up the desktop phone on her desk and dialed a number.

"Daichi, you're on speaker and I have guests, be civil. What can you tell me about this man?" She says. "I'm sending you a picture now."

The clicking of keys can be heard before a man speaks on the other end of the line.

"Criminal record for sexual assault, armed robbery, and get this, involuntary man slaughter. He's a plumber, and his recent jobs included all the victims!" The man exclaimed.

"Lovely, thank you sweet heart," Agent (L/N) says, hanging up.

"You guys wanna see how a SWAT team takes down a suspect?" She asks.

The men share glances before they all nod.

"Put your hands in the air!" I yell at the man. He puts his hands in the air and turns around.

"I am the Blue Ridge Killer. I tortured and killed all those people." He says, smirking.

"Save it for the court, ass hat!" I yell as my men handcuff him. He doesn't resist at all, but I keep my face neutral, but concern and confusion swirled around in my head. Why did he just surrender with a smile? Why did he confess so easily? Why?

As he's dragged towards a cop car, he turns and smiles creepily at me, sending a shiver down my spine.

"He has plans for you." He says simply before being forced into the backseat. He gave you the creeps, most killers you caught did, but he was different. I cleared my throat, turning to the men I brought along with me.

"Well, it wasn't very exciting, but how was it seeing a SWAT team in action?" I ask, taking off my bulletproof vest.

"It was awesome! You were so cool in action!" Mirio exclaimed, taking his vest off as well.

"Well I'm glad you thought so, usually there's a bit more action to see, but this guy was easy."

"I've never seen anything like this before, so it was really cool to watch! It makes me wonder about your quirk." Midoriya says, making me laugh. He fiddled with the clasp as he tried to remove his vest.

"Need some help?" I ask, walking over.

"Maybe a little," he chuckles, obviously embarrassed. I walked closer, putting my hands on the clasp, clicking it open. I slip my hand on the collar, pulling it off of Midoriya. Looking up, I see him blushing madly, probably from me being so close. I look down pretending not to see. I take his and Mirio's vest, and throw them in the truck with mine. I look over to see Tamaki just getting his off, and he walks over to throw his in.

"Hey," I say when he walks over. "If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." I hold out my business card, smiling. He flushed as his hands shakily reach out to take it. He stared at it a moment in his hand before pocketing it and looking at my face. We lock eyes, and before I can stop myself, I accidentally read his thought.

She's pretty.

My face heats up a bit, and I flash Amajiki one last smile before turn back around.

"Well, the guy is caught, so now I have to get his confession on tape, and do a lot of paper work." I explain. "I'm sure you have better things to do than that, so here we part, unless you want a ride back to your work?" I ask.

"If it's not to much trouble, we don't want to inconvenience you." Midoriya says. I smile.

"Not at all. I'll drive myself."

(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)/(/)

"Wow, you're..."

"Yep."

"Wow. Well, I'm sure you need to get back to being a hero." I say as I stare, wide eyed, at where they worked. It was Deku's agency. The number one pro hero's agency. I knew Midoriya's eyes looked familiar.

"It was a pleasure to see you in action." Midoriya says.

"It was a pleasure working with you. We should do it again." I smile. "And Midoriya?" I ask, making him turn towards me again, while Mirio and Amajiki kept walking towards the glass doors of the building.

"You wouldn't happen to be 'shitty Deku,' would you?" I ask.

"That's something a child hood friend calls me. Well, friends is a bit of a stretch. He kind of hates me." Midoriya laughs nervously.

"Well, sorry to stir up old memories."

"You're fine! Really!" He exclaims.

"If you insist. Well, I'm gone. If you ever need anything, let me know. I'll be glad to help." With that, I get into the car and drive off, leaving Midoriya standing, confused, on the curb.
