After the whole cigarette thing, we snooped around the house a little longer, not really discovering much other than the man's manga collection and hatred of cleaning. We all had our moments where we held back the urge to puke.

The contaminated cigarettes were safe in the lab getting tested when Bakugo, Eijiro and I walked back into the meeting room.

Todoroki sat alone at one end of the meeting table, looking bored as he scrolled through what I assumed were prison quirk records. Iida stood at the whiteboard full of victims, mumbling to himself as he scanned police reports and victim statements.

Izuku and Ochaco sat at another end of the long meeting table, engaging in a very heated conversation.

"Look at it this way, if heβ€” oh, you're back!" Ochako said, smiling as we walked through the door.

"Hey guys!" Eijiro said as he sauntered in, holding out a fist to Shoto.

"Like you showed me?" He asked.

"Yeah bro, like I showed you!"

Shoto bumped his fist to the red head's, making him smile.

"Hell yeah!"

"Did you find out anything substantial, Deku, or were you just useless as always?"

"Bakugo, play nice and stop being a dick!" I exclaimed, looking back at the blonde.

"It's fine (Y/N), I'm used to it by now," Izuku assured me as he smiled softly in my direction before tilting his head back to look at Bakugo. "For your information Kacchan, Ochako and I actually uncovered something while you were gone."

"What's up?" Eijiro asked, walking over.

I didn't say anything, spinning around a chair and sitting down in it backwards.

"So all the victims just disappeared without a trace right? Well, Ochako and I looked over crime scene photos from the victim's homes."

"And look what we found," she finished, holding out a stack of photos in my direction, Eijiro and Bakugo approaching me to gaze over my shoulder.

The picture was of a living room with a rather ugly carpet covering the floor.

"Look at the top right corner of the carpet, very, very closely."

I held the photo closer to my face, inspecting the top right corner of the carpet.

Is that...

"Are those drops of dried blood?" Eijiro asked, finishing my thought.

"We think so," Iida said, nodding over at us.

"It's so small and kinda blends in with the carpet so it's easy to overlook." Ochaco stated, leaning back in her chair. "If you look closely at a few other photos you can see a few drops on the floor."

...careful to step over the mysterious drops on the floor...

"But there's the catch," Izuku picked up, "not all homes have them."

"So we can assume that the kidnapper hurts his victims in some way, probably to get them to comply. If the drops aren't in the homes then they might have gotten picked up from somewhere else." I rationalized, tapping my bottom lip in thought.

"Not bad Round Face," Bakugo scoffed, almost as if he hated praising her.

"This guy, always with the 'Round Face,'" Ochaco scoffed, looking at me and shaking her hand.

I laughed softly, raising my hand and hitting the blonde in the side.

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"It was for being a dick, now leave Ochaco alone."

"Thanks babe," she said, smiling at me.

"Anytime hon."

"I'll have to inform you both that this behavior is not appropriate for the workplace! Please pay attention to your work and not each other!" Iida pleaded, his hand slicing through the air.

"Are you two dating?" Eijiro asked, nudging me and wiggling his eyebrows.

"Eijiro, please do not encourage this behavior!"

"No, we're not, but we could be," Ochaco said, winking at me and laughing as Iida looked as if he were about to pass out.

"Ladies, this is a work place!"

"Alright, alright, we're done Iida," I assured him, raising my hands in surrender. As Iida turned away, I looked at Ochaco and winked, making her snicker.

"Hey! (Y/N) winked!"

"Bakugo, you snitch!"

I looked from the files in my hands to the watch on my wrist, shocked at how late it had gotten.

7:30, geez. Shitβ€” I'm meeting Takami at midnight and I should take a nap and eat before then.

"Hey guys, I'd love to stay longer but I have an engagement I have to attend to," I said, standing up from my place and organizing the files I was looking at.

"Yeah, of course. Thank you for your help today." Izuku said, turning to look at me.

"Of course. I'd like to continue helping with this case if you'll let me."

"I would love that! We're heroes, not detectives, your professional help is greatly appreciated."

"Yeah, you're a real life saver (Y/N)!" Ochaco exclaimed, spinning in her chair.

"I'm glad I could help at all. When should I come again?"

"The lab said the tox report should be ready by tomorrow," Eijiro added.

"Yes, but that is her day off, we shouldn't bother her!" Iida exclaimed.

"It's no trouble, I can stop by tomorrow afternoon." I assured them all, smiling.

"Good, then I won't be the only smart one in the room!" Bakugo exclaimed, smiling as he leaned back further in his chair.

"Iida is right there dude." Eijiro said, pointing in said man's direction.

"And Izuku and Ochaco are to my left, do you need glasses?" I asked

"Eijiro is right beside you Bakugo, don't be rude!" Ochaco exclaimed.

"I'm here too," Shoto added, making me nod and point at him.

Bakugo rolled his eyes and then looked at me, eyebrow raised as if expecting me to say something. I just stuck out my tongue and reached for my bag.

"I'll see you all tomorrow then?"

"See you then!"

"Goodbye (Y/N)!"

"Goodbye my love."

I waved in their direction and walked out the door, eyes set on the elevator in front of me.

I'll eat when I get home and then take a nap. This is so gonna fuck up my sleep schedule.

As I walked back to the agency to grab my bike, my mind wandered to Takami.

His wings had always been and will always be iconic. They're his, you see a pair of red wings anywhere and you immediately think of the pro hero Hawks.

Lunch boxes, stickers, shirts, my tie, jackets, pants, signs, beer cans, nail art, candles, on birds, all roads lead to Hawks.

Almost every person's dream is for Takami to take them flying, to be wrapped up in his arms as they fly over the city, lights glinting below their feet as they rise, up, up, up...

To share a kiss in the pale moonlight, the only sound being the beating of his wings, no other souls around to witness.

How many other people had he promised this to?

How many other people had the ability to take his quirk?

Maybe I was special, maybe this is a one time thing for him. For us.

But when he's one of the most desired bachelors in the city and has been for years, so it's hard to believe that I'm the one he truly cares about.

I can't figure you out Takami.

And I don't think I like it.

Fun Fact: Dabi and Toga's cell shares a wall and they annoy each other all the time by beating on it when they're bored.

A pretty girl complimented me today and I am still riding off that high✨✨

Reminder: I know that it's scary and that you're nervous, but you've got to just get up and try. Rip of the bandaid and it'll be over! You can't regret the things you don't try. I love you allπŸ’žπŸ’ž

Over and out.
