The Oscorp Tour

The next morning, Peter and I, made our way to the large Oscorp building in the middle of the city.

"So, how are we getting in there?" Peter asked me with a raised brow.
"Uh, I'm not sure yet..." I chuckled nervously.
"You don't know? We are about to walk inside. We need to have some sort of plan..." He said worriedly.
"Don't worry. We will do what we do best. We'll improvise." I shrugged and pushed my way through the doors, before he could argue.

We looked around the large lobby in awe. The front desk was to our right and one of the worker's spotted us just standing around looking.
"Excuse me?" She called out and we both turned to look.
"What?" Peter said nervously.
"Can I help you two?"
"I don't know..." Peter said.
"Actually, yes. We are here to see Doctor Connor's." I told her confidently and Peter looked at me with wide eyes.

"Right. You will find yourselves to the left." She told us and we both looked at her confused.
"Huh?" I said.
"You are here for the internship?" She questioned us.
"Oh, yeah. Of course." We said nervously.
"Then you'll find your badge's to the left."

When I looked beside us, there was a couple of badge's left.
"Are you having trouble finding yourselves?"
"No, no trouble at all." Peter grabbed two random badges and held them up.
"Okay, Mr. Guevara and Ms. Sinclair." She gave us a weirded out look and we nodded walking away.

"Harley Sinclair? Rodrigo Guevara? At least mine's believable." I chuckled quietly.
"Hey, I didn't see you stepping up to grab the badge's." He shook his head and we made our way up towards the internship group.

"Welcome to Oscorp. Born from the mind of our founder, Norman Osborn, the Oscorp Tower houses 108 floors of innovation. Our scientific minds are pushing the boundaries of defense, biomedical and chemical technologies. The future lies within." The announcement lady said over the intercom system.

We hid in the back of the larger group of student's. We needed to keep a low profile as not to get caught. But as soon as we both heard that voice, we knew we were going to be in trouble.
"Welcome to Oscorp. My name's Gwen Stacy. I'm a junior at Midtown Science, and I'm also head intern to Doctor Connor's. I'll be with you for the duration of your visit. Where I go, you go. That's the basic rule. If you remember that, all will be fine." She smiled at the group of interns.

"How did you not know she was gonna be here?!" Peter whispered alarmed.
"I forgot! Don't worry, as long as she doesn't see us, we should be fine." I stressed quietly.
"Should. Key word, Cate." He sighed.

"What's wrong with you? Listen, tell them Rodrigo Guevara is here!"
"Get your hand's off me! There's been some kind of mistake! Harley Sinclair! I'm supposed to be here."

A boy and girl were seen down below being dragged away by security shouting. Peter and I hid our face's from the group as best as we could as they all watched the scene below.

"Well, I guess I don't need to tell you what happens if you forget that. Shall we?" Gwen said and led the group onto the tour of the building. "Let's have you all come around this way." She pointed to an area within the lab we had all just walked into.

That was when we saw him for the first time. Dr. Curtis Connors. He was a tall man, with blonde hair, glasses, and he was missing one arm.
"Good afternoon, Gwen." He greeted her politely.
    "Dr. Connors." Gwen smiled.
"Welcome. My name is Dr. Curtis Connors. And yes, in case you're wondering, I'm a southpaw." He joked and the small group of interns laughed. "I'm not a cripple, I'm a scientist, and I'm the world's foremost authority on herpetology. That's reptiles, for those of you who don't know. But like Parkinson's patient who watches on in horror as her body slowly betrays her, or the man with macular degeneration whose eyes grow dimmer each day, I long to fix myself. I wanna create a world without weakness. Anyone care to venture a guess just how?" He asked and he called on the one student whose hand rose.
    "Stem cells?" He asked.
"Promising. But the solution I'm thinking of is more radical."

"Don't do it, Cate." Peter whispered to me.
"I have to Peter." I whispered back.
    "Dont..."
"No one?" Dr. Connors called out as no one else answered.
"Cross Species Genetics." I said softly.
    "What was that?" He asked.
"Uh, Cross Species Genetics." Peter repeated louder.

The crowd of kids separated and revealed Peter and I. Dr. Connors smiled and Gwen looked down to her attendance sheet in shock.

"Uhm, a person get's Parkinson's when the brain cells that produce dopamine start to disappear. But a zebra fish has the ability to regenerate cells on command. If you could somehow give this ability to the woman you're talking about, that's that... She's curing herself." I explained further.
I watched as Dr. Connors smile only grew the more I spoke.
"Yeah, if you can just look past the gills on her neck." One of the boy's in the group scoffed and the rest of them laughed.

Peter grabbed my hand and smiled at me, making me blush.

"A-and you are?" Dr. Connors asked looking at me curiously.
"She's one of Midtown Science's best and brightest." Gwen told him, when I didn't respond. Gaining his attention back away from us.
    "Really?"
"Second in her class." Gwen said and I smiled at her.
    "Second?" I asked.
    "Yep."
"Are you sure?" I raised an eyebrow and she smiled.
    "Pretty sure."

Dr. Connors beeper began to go off.
"I'm afraid duty call's. I'll leave you in the more than capable hand's of Miss Stacy. Nice meeting you all." He gazed over at me once more and the turned on his heel's and left the science lab.
"If you'd like to gather around." Gwen said.
A large hologram appeared.
"Welcome to Oscorp's tree of life. Our planet's tree of life is immense. At Oscorp's Cross-Species Division..."

As the group gathered around, we knew our cover had been blown. So we tried to sneak by to leave the building. I scrunched my nose and closed my eyes and Gwen noticed us walk by.
"Hi." She said simply. I cleared my throat and turned around towards her. Giving her an awkward smile. "So what are you two doing? UH, Rodrigo and Harley." She read the name's off our badge's we had clipped to our chests.
"Oh. Yeah..." Peter said nervously looking at his badge.
"Oh. Hi, Gwen. I didn't know you were going to be here... today..."
"Uh-huh. I told you weeks ago that I was working here." She chuckled. "So, what are you doing here?"
"We snuck in because we love science." I shrugged as I lied. And Peter nodded.

Gwen looked at us both, obviously not believing us.
"You guy's love science?" She said in disbelief.
"Yeah, we are passionate about it." Peter told her.
"So you snuck in... I have to lead this tour group. So I'm gonna talk to you about this later. Do not get me in trouble. Stay with the group." She said firmly and we both nodded our head's vigoriously.
"I promise, we won't." I said as she eye'd me suspiciously.
"All right, guy's. I'm gonna take you to the bioreactor room now."

Gwen spoke to the group of interns, they began to walk away and with one look Peter and I were ready to leave. Peter turned around and started heading for the stairs. As I turned I knocked into a gentleman and knocked a folder of paper's from his hand's.
"Oh, gosh. I'm so sorry." I said as I tried to help him pick up the paperwork. I looked curiously at the double zero's on the paper work and he snatched it from my hand's. He didn't say anything, only turned around and kept walking.

    "Cate, let's go." Peter whispered.
"Uh, you go. I'll catch up with you in a minute." I whispered back and began to follow the guy.
"Cate... Cate!" Peter called out quietly as I disappeared from site.

I followed the man through the Oscorp hallway's, inconspicuously. Eventually reaching a hallway with a door, that carried the same double zero sign on it as my father's paper's. Bio-cable Development Unit. The door sign read. The man input a code on the door and when it opened he was met with two scientists. They spoke quietly for a moment and I couldn't hear there hushed whispers.
I waited to see what they would do from behind a wall, where they couldn't see me. The three of them walked away and I couldn't help my curiosity. I walked over to the key pad and copied the same code, I had watched the man put in and the door clicked open. I snuck inside it.

The room was bright white, clean and there was machine's packaging small cartridges of Oscorp Cable. One set of the machine's was actually spinning the cables together and it looked like a spider's web.
"Whoa." I breathed out quietly to myself. When I turned around, I noticed a big glass door that said restricted access. "Nope. Don't do it. Walk out." I huffed and turned toward's the exit door. I sighed and looked back again. "Well, one little peak couldn't hurt."

I looked inside the glass, and there was large rotating machine's filled with actual spider's web's. Covered in hundred's of spider's. I checked the door handle and it was open, so naturally. I walked inside the room. I was completely in awe of the machine and the spider's, secretly wishing Peter had come with me to see this. I walked through the rotating device as I looked around. I couldn't help my curiosity as I reached out and touched one of the cables. The strength of it was incredible.

It vibrated up the machine and suddenly everything stopped rotating. My eye's widened at what I had done. The webbing began to whir and fall down from there metal posts. Spider's upon spider's fell on me and my head. I stood still for a second with my face scrunched, trying not to scream. I wiggled by body and shook them off of me, trying not to squish them.
"Ew, ew, ew. Oh, my god." I whispered freaking out.
The machine started up again and as I thought I got all the spider's off I snuck back out the door.
