Chapter 21
A lot of time has passed since the fight between Jack and Darrius and before they both knew it, it was a day before the date planned for the attack.
Darrius paced inside his tent, his thoughts filling up the silence.
What would Pearl say?
What would Darren say?
What would his child say?
He knew it was gonna be hard, especially for his child. He was pretty sure everyone thought that it was Darren's child, so imagine him coming up there and changing his child's life.
And Pearl, it's gonna be hard for her as well. Imagine her finding one of her dead mates was alive and that her child, the one she had been raising with her other mate, was his.
He sighed before letting out a loud groan and leaving his tent.
He needed to talk with Jack one more time, he needs some advice.
As he walked towards Jack's tent, he felt as if he was being watched. He could hear the whispers around him and thanks to his alpha blood, they were all talking about him.
"When do you think Rouge Jack is gonna tell Rouge Darrius?"
"I feel bad for him to man, I mean, I gotta admit that Rouge Darrius is a nice person."
"Rouge Jack said the attack is tomorrow, It's definitely going down tonight."
"Rouge Darrius had it coming though."
Darrius stopped himself, not wanting to hear more. He was overall confused at what his fellow rouges where saying.
What was Jack going to tell him?
He stood outside of Jack's tent, ready to enter when he heard Jack talking with some rouges.
"Alright, I'll tell him tonight, then tomorrow morning, we'll--- oh, hey Darrius."
Darrius gave them a fake smile before sitting down on Jack's bed. Darrius turned to them and noticed they weren't talking anymore. He began to urge,
"Oh don't mind me, please, continue."
"Well," Jack cleared his throat and clapped his hands, "I think we're done for today. We'll review the plan tomorrow morning before the attack, alright?"
All the rouges nodded and left the tent, leaving Jack and Darrius in silence.
"So, what were you guys discussing?" Darrius asked, his eyes looking forward.
"Well, we were discussing the plans for tomorrow's attack."
"Without me?" Darrius asked emotionlessly, as he turned his head towards Jack.
Darrius looked completely different, his eyes looked almost dead which surprised Jack. Jack scratched his neck before looking around the tent, looking to change the topic.
"Well," Jack said as he clapped his hands, "It's about dinner now. Why don't we have dinner together?"
"No thanks, I'm just gonna go back to my tent."
Just as Darrius was about to leave, Jack called out for him, causing him to stop.
"What?"
"Why don't you want to have dinner with me? Today is the last time we'll ever have dinner with each other."
"What do you mean?" Darrius asked confused.
"I mean, after we overthrow Darren, you'll take over as alpha and we won't see each other anymore."
"I, I never really thought about that," Darrius muttered.
"So, you wanna join me for dinner?"
Darrius nodded his head and the two men walked out of the tent and towards the kitchen. Everyone was inside, eating up for tomorrow's attack, and werewolves were big eaters.
Darrius and Jack picked out their meals before deciding to sit outside. They sat outside, on top of a hill not far from their camp.
"So how are you feeling about the attack?" Jack asked as he took out a bottle of water.
"Kinda nervous."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, what will Pearl say when she finds out I'm alive? That her child whom she thought she had with Darren is mine? What will my child say when he finds out that the man he thought was his father wasn't?"
"Dude," Jack said as he placed a hand on his shoulder, "Stop overthinking it."
"Pearl is your mate, years ago she did say she chose you over Darren right. She'd be glad to find out her child is with her true love not with that jerk. Your child, I'm not gonna lie, might become hard to deal with for a while but I'm sure he'll come around."
"But what if--"
Jack knocked on Darrius' head before looking back at him with a dumbfounded look,
"Hello," he stretched out, "did you not hear me? I said, STOP THINKING!"
Darrius flinched as Jack yelled into his ear. Jack then sat back down in his original spot and began chewing on his sandwich.
"Trust me, dude, everything will be okay. I promise."
Darrius nodded before giving Jack a smile and digging into his food. As they both had a quiet dinner, Darrius could see Jack giving him side glances.
Just as Darrius was about to ask the reason, he suddenly found himself lying on the floor, his face facing Jack, who had a look of guilt on his face.
"W-What—"
"I'm sorry Darrius."

Darrius groaned before laying upon the cold floor. He looked around to find himself in an unfamiliar place.
"Darrius?" A familiar voice called out as they escaped from the darkness, making Darrius look at him clearly.
"Jack? What-What's going on?" Darrius asked as he stood on his own two feet. He groaned as he felt an immense headache before his legs gave out and he fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry Darrius."
Darrius, confused, looked up at Jack to find him looking away, hiding his face.
"For what? Nevermind that, let me out of here."
"I can't do that."
"Huh, why not?"
Jack finally turned to Darrius, his eyes showing guilt, "Because I'm the one who put you here."

Hey guys, if you read the comments of the last chapter you'd know that this is the last chapter of the past.
But, I've decided to change a few things and now there will be a second and final chapter of the past.
I feel that having this as an ending is better because it leaves a cliffhanger.
Read the next chapter to find out why Jack is doing all of this?
