2. The Lone Wolf

October Twenty-fifth at two fourth-five in the morning.
Thirty-three years ago, I was born.
The first born to the Alpha of Os Lobos pack.
My dad, Julian, was initiated as Alpha when he was eighteen years old.
My mother, Rosita, had me when she was nineteen. My dad was twenty-three by then.

I went to visit them the year before they died.
My dad was fifty-two and my mother was forty-seven at the time. My dad was a tall, muscular man.
I was an inch taller than him and he hated it.
Nick looked more like him than I did.
He had jet black hair with some gray in it and light brown eyes.
He was a lady killer when he was younger.
I guess that's where Nick and I get it.

My mother was very beautiful. She was one of the most classiest women I've known and a hell of a Luna. She was about five foot and six inches tall. She had short curly brown hair with blue eyes.
I use to think I was adopted because I'm the only one with hazel eyes. Until my dad showed me a picture of his mom and she had hazel eyes like mine.
Nick's daughter, Ava, does too.

Growing up Nick and I were always close, even with the huge age gap. I was shockingly the good one when we were kids. He was the troublemaker, but I always took the blame for him.
One time when he was in fifth grade, he was in love with a girl named Natalia who was in his class.
Well not in love, but infatuated.

I was almost twenty at the time and already fucking my life up. That was the year I dropped out of school.
I was held back a couple of times so that's why I was an almost twenty year old in twelfth grade.
I was so stupid back then. I was literally on my last year of high school.
I started hanging out with the wrong types of people and started doing drugs, that's why I quit going.

Nick wanted to surprise Natalia with a gift so he went into our parent's bedroom and stole my mom's favorite diamond necklace. That necklace was an anniversary gift from my dad that I know had to be worth at least two thousand dollars.
The next day, my mom started yelling about the necklace and I took the blame. Of course she believed me because like I said I was doing drugs. She thought I pawned it for some quick cash.
I let her think that and she never found out.

After that, I left home and stayed with random girls who I met at clubs. The ones who took me home at night.
I was a womanizer back then.
I was suppose to be the Alpha of Os Lobos since I'm the oldest, but I wasn't around so Nick took my spot.
Most siblings would fight over titles like that, but not us.
I don't hold any resentment towards him.
I'm actually proud of him.
He makes a better Alpha than I ever would of been anyways.

The only thing I'm jealous of is how quickly he found his mate.
He was only eighteen for a short while before he found Ariana.
I've been all over the world and had fifteen years to find mine and yet, I have nobody.
What if I never meet my mate?
What if she died?
Too many possibilities and not enough answers.

I may have been a screw up when I was younger, but I have changed drastically. For the better.
Over the last four years, I went back to school and got my GED.
I've been working at our family business as Nick's assistant to save money. I took the job that Josh use to have before he was promoted to Vice President.
He deserved it.

I started attending drug rehabilitation centers and volunteering there to help addicts fight their drug problems. I even became a sponsor for a young teenager named Zack who was a heroin addict. He's been clean for four months now, but he calls me anytime if he starts to crave for it.
Day or night.

I thought it would be good for me to help others like me.
I didn't have anybody to help me fight my addictions, but I've been clean for the last five years.
I mean I had my family, but I didn't want to come home and face them so I beat it on my own.

I saved enough money to buy the old bar downtown next to Ariana's restaurant Tres Amores. The owner is getting too old to run it and couldn't afford to fix it back up. I gave him well over his value price to buy it just so he would have some extra cash. I have two more weeks until I can officially open the bar. I'm just waiting on my liquor license to come in the mail. I tried to convince Ariana to add a bar into her restaurant but she wasn't having it.

As I'm sitting on the couch, watching my nieces and nephews run around playing tag together, Nick sits down beside me.
"What you doing bro?" He asked.
"Just trying to come up with a name for the bar." I say. "It will be ready to open in two weeks and yet I have no name for it."
Nick chuckles. "Well do like Ariana did. Name it after something that is meaningful to you."

I give him a look like did you really just say that to me?

"Nick, you know I don't have anything meaningful in my life like that. I wasn't blessed by the Spirit with a mate like you were." I say grumpy. "I'm probably going to die alone."
Nick rolls his eyes. "Don't be so dramatic! You will find your mate."

I roll my eyes back at him. "Nick, I'm already thirty-three. I don't think a mate is in the cards for me. I'll forever be the lone wolf." I say feeling sorry for myself.
Nick chuckles and slaps me on the back. "Dude, you just came up with your bar name." He smirks. "The Lone Wolf."

"No." I shake my head laughing. "O Lobo Solitário."
