Avery's POV

"Avery!" I heard someone call my name.

I turned around and Melissa running towards me.

"Why didn't you tell me!?" She shook me.

"Tell you what?" I asked.

"That my asshole of a cousin wasn't leaving you alone yesterday."

"Huh?"

"Ash is my cousin."

"Oh  right! It's OK he apologized."

"He? Apologized?" She questioned.

I nodded.

"Is this a prank!? Josh!? Oliver!? Lola!? Where are you hiding!?"

She searched the halls for them but hey weren't there.

"I'm serious this isn't a prank." I cleared up.

Her face lit up. "He never apologizes. To anyone. About any thing. I think he likes you."

A red color and warmth went straight to my cheeks.

"No! No way."

"Your bushing!" She laughed.

"No I'm not!" More heat rise to my cheeks.

She laughed more. All of a sudden her mood changed. It was all just pure anger?

"Avery don't turn around." She said.

I looked at her confused. "What?"

"Don't. Turn. Around."

That only increased my curiosity. I turned around slowly and a similar burning, stinging sensation returned to my chest.

Ash was kissing a girl. I remember she would always with Mandy. It's probably one of her minions.

"I told you not to turn around." Melissa grabbed my arms and spun me around to face her. "Your crying."

I didn't even realize I was. I used my sleeve to wipe the salty liquid from my eyes.

Melissa wrapped her arm around my shoulder and led me away from the scene.

We walked into the girls bathroom. She rinsed out a paper towel and wiped my face with it.

"I'm fine." I lied.

"No, your not. It's ok to cry. He's a jerk anyways."

I gave her a sad smile and she returned it.

"Let's get to class. I'm chill with most of the teachers so I match my sweet to match yours." She smiled.

"You didn't have to do that."

"I wanted to. You're my lun- I mean friend now."

She grabbed my hand and lead me to our next class.

Once we got there the teacher assigned us to different seats.

Luckily I was far away from Ash. Melissa was sitting behind me.

I brunette sat next to me. I didn't recognize her but then again I only got here yesterday.

"Hi I'm Brittney." She greeted me.

"I'm Avery." I smiled.

She extended her hand for me to shake. I gladly took it.

The teacher started her lecture but I could tell what she was talking about.

The room was also dark because she had her presentation up.

"Do you know what the teacher is talking about? I'm new." She stated.

"Me too. And to answer your question I have no idea." I laughed.

She laughed with me.

"I'm a little hurt your having fun without me Avy." A voice said next to me.

I whipped my head around only to see a smirking Ash.

"Why are you over here Ash?" Melissa asked sassily.

"Come on. Don't pretend you don't enjoy my company." He smirked at her.

She rolled her eyes. "You're lucky I don't tell your mom about the company you keep."

Brittney looked at me confused.

"Cousins." I cleared up as she nodded.

"Stalking me already Avy?" Ash smirked.

"No idiot. I told her. Your head is already the size of the statue of liberty. Quit making it bigger." Melissa insulted.

Me and Brittney tried to contain our laughter as Ash glared at us.

"You love me Avy. Don't you?" He did the puppy dog eyes and pouted.

I chuckled. "Nope I don't."

A flash of sadness went through his eyes but he quickly masked it with humor.

"Your loss."

I rolled my eyes at his behavior. "Man up."

I heard Melissa and Brittney laugh beside me.

"Whatever." He muttered.

The bell rang and Ash was already out of the classroom.

"Is he your boyfriend?" Brittney asked beside me.

I chocked on my spit. "No!"

"Oh come on I've seen the way he looks at you."

"What way?" I asked.

She shook her head.

"He's a little different isn't he?" She changed the subject.

"How so?"

"I don't know. He saved me this morning earlier but he was kinda rude."

"Saved you?" I asked.

"I was almost raped but he knocked the guy out and saved me."

"Oh well I'm glad you're OK." I rubbed her back.

"Maybe I can change him." She wondered.

I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Why am I like this?

"Well you can't really change people. They can only change themselves."

"Words of wisdom?" She smiled.

"I speak from experience. No one can change you. Only you can do that."

She laughed. "Well I got to go. Bye."

I waved. "Bye."

The halls were empty. I had a free period so I could just go home.

I made my way to my locker and entered the combination.

I literally shoved my stuff inside not worrying about neatness.

I closed it shut and started to roam the halls.

I didn't know my whole way around yet or the best memory  so I was having trouble finding the closest exit.

I turned the corner and saw Ash talking to Mandy.

I didn't stick around to see there next make out session so I ran out of there as fast as I could.

I didn't know in what direction I was going I just kept running.

After a while I somehow ended up in the woods. I was out of breath and my legs were starting to throb.

I was never the best at running.

I slowed my pace down to a slow walk at an attempt to find a way out of the woods.

All I could here was the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling in the slight wind. Every no and then I would see a squirrel run by but that was it.

I am so lost.

I couldn't even find the way I came from.

All of a sudden I heard leaves rustling. More violently than usual.

I panicked so I hid behind a tree at an attempt to blend in.

I peaked my head out slightly to see that a large gray wolf had jumped out from the bushed.

A wolf?

It was huge!

I just wanted it. I hope I'm not being creepy.

It shook it's fur out. I soon heard the sound of bones cracking.

All of a sudden the wolf wasn't on all fours any more. It didn't have a snout or fur. It was human.

Not just a human. Ash.

Not just Ash. Naked Ash.

I loud ear piercing scream filled the air. It scared some bird in the trees.

It took me a moment to realize that the scream came from me.

Ash's head snapped towards my direction.

I could hear my heart beat in my ears, pounding louder than a drum.

My feet started moving but it felt like I wasn't in control.

I could hear footsteps behind me.

I turned around and saw the gray wolf again.

Ash.

I tripped over a collapsed tree and lost my balance completely.

I felt the hard dirt come in contact with my body. I landed on my wrist.

A large throbbing pain erupted on my ankle and wrist.

I panicked and backed away from the growling wolf stalking towards me.

My back hit a tree and there was no where else to go.

Tears streamed down my face as the Ash got closer to me.

Black dots started to cloud my vision.

I'm going to pass out.

The last thing I saw was Ash's human face. A worried and scared face.
