Avery's POV

"Um... I-I was--" I stuttered over my words until Ash cut me off.

"You were what!? Huh!?" He growled.

"Don't take that tone of voice with me mister!" I scowled.

"Then what were you doing!?" His grip on my wrist tightened.

"I heard whimpering coming from down there! I went down stairs to the basement and Mandy was in a cell crying uncontrollably!" I yelled.

"Don't yell at me!" His grip got tighter on my wrist.

I bit my lip holding back a whimper.

"She didn't do anything wrong Ash! She sounded be in that cage like an animal!"

"She lied to an alpha! That is a crime! And she will stay in there until I say so!"

His grip tightened and this time I couldn't hold back the whimper.

He looked down at my wrist and immediately let go.

I cradled my wrist to my chest and rubbed it. It was definitely bruised.

Hurt and worry filled his face.

"Avy! I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have down that! I got angry! I'm sorry!" He apologized but didn't take a step closer to me but I couldn't tell it was hard for him.

"It's OK. I'm fine." I reassured him.

"How!? How are you fine!? I hurt you!?"

"But it's my fault. I should have told you I was in the basement. I'm sorry too but I forgive you."

"I don't understand." He mumbled to himself.

"What is it?" I took a step closer to him.

"How can you be so forgiving to me!?"

My eyebrows furrowed. I was not expecting that.

"What do you mean?" I took another step closer.

"I have hurt you so many times! And you mange to forgive me every single time! How!?"

I took another step closer until our chest were almost touching.

"I just do."

I cupped my face with his hands and kissed me passionately.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and his hands traveled up and down my waist. I pulled away for air.

"I don't deserve you." He spoke.

I looked at him confused.

"I don't deserve you. You're too good for me. You always manage to get on my bad side but still forgive me in the end." He leaned his forehead against mine. "I love you."

I froze. Completely.

The last time I love a male he changed and hurt me and abused me.

My foster father.

I loved him as an actual father and he hurt me.

I took a step back from Ash and removed my arms from his neck.

He looked at me confused and hurt.

I was nearly at the verge of tears.

"Avy what's wrong? I'm sorry. You don't have to say it back. But I do lo--"

I didn't wait for him to finish.

I walked out of his room and enter d mine.

I began searching through my closet till I came across my old photo album. The one with the pictures of my foster father.

Good memories and bad ones.

I carried it in my hands as I walked back to Ash room. The door was closed.

I knocked on it softly.

"What!?" I heard him growl.

"A-Ash." I called out to him

He opened the door with a pained expression on his face.

"I need to talk to you and your parents Ash. Please." I didn't wait for a reply.

I made my way to the kitchen and sat down at the kitchen island. I places the photo album in front of me.

The other pack member had left and soon Artemis, Blake, and Ash entered the kitchen.

"What's wrong sweetie?" Artemis asked me.

"My foster father." I answered.

"I know sweetie you told me. He used to be a father to you." She said.

I opened up the photo album in front of me.

"This photo album has every picture of me and him since the day he took me in. I hid a camera in he living room every time he would abuse me and I set it on a timer. I always did this in hopes that if I did escape him I would have proof that he hurt me." Tears ran down my cheeks.

I heard growls all around me. Not just from Ash but from Artemis and Blake's too as hey looked at a picture from when I was three.

Artemis grabbed the photo album angrily and started at the picture.

"This is Logan! Logan Jake!" She yelled.

"W-what?" I asked confused.

An arm wrapped around my waist and held me tightly. I looked over and saw ash looking at his mother with a worried expression.

Artemis then stared at me. "I recognize you. In this picture. I was about to kill Logan until you came out of the woods."

My eyes widened at her words then a sudden memory hit me.

~Flashback~

I giggled as I ran through the woods looking for my new daddy.

"This time I'll make sure you stay dead!" I heard a girl yell.

That's such a silly thing to say.

I giggled as I ran towards the noise.

I was in a clearing. There was a lot of people.

I saw my daddy. He had a tree around him. And there was a girl with a really big knife. I think it was called a sword. She kinda looked like a ninja.

Everyone was looking at me.

My daddy smiled but then it went away. "Avery I told you not to follow me."

"I'm sorry daddy. I was just bored." I told him. "Daddy why do you have a ninja and a tree?"

"Daddy's just playing with some friends." He replied.

The girl looked at him. "You have a kid!?"

"He's not my actual daddy. My mommy and daddy got stuck in our car and become stars in the sky. He found me and helped me." I answered.

My daddy looked at the girl. "See Artemis. It's fate that I stay alive."

"How many times have I told you Logan. I don't believe in fate I believe in choice." She cut the tree that was around him. "And I choose to let you live. For Avery's sake."

"I'll be back Robin Hood." He took my hand and led me back into the forest.

I was really confused.

"Daddy what was that?" I asked.

He kneeled down the my level. "Listen Avery you can't tell anybody what you saw today. OK?"

I nodded my head.

"Good. Now let's get you home."

~Flashback over~

I remember that day so clearly now.

I looked at Artemis she had an emotionless expression on her face.

She walked up to me and hugged me.

I quickly hugged her back.

"I should have taken you away from him." She spoke as she pulled away. "I should have taken you away from Logan the second I saw you and killed him. You hurt you and I could have prevented that!"

"I'm not your fault." I spoke. "You couldn't have known the he was going to hurt me."

I hugged her again. After I pulled away I noticed Ash looking at a photo from when I was 9.

"I've seen you before." He said.

I looked at him confused. "What?"

"I got lost in he woods why I was 6 and I saw this pretty girl all by herself near a lake. I walked up to her and talked to her. She told me she needed to get home. I gave her a hug and ran back to my mom. That was you Avy." He smiled. "I never once forgot that face."

I smiled back at him as the memory popped up in my head.

I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his cheek.

"Ash I lo-" I started out but a loud sound cut me off.

The widow shattered as a brick fleet through the window.

Ash grabbed me and pulled me to the floor as Blake did the same thing to Artemis.

After we noticed mother else happened we stood our selves up and liked at the brick.

There was a not attached to it.
